The only thing here - "and for that matter increasing both." AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH The assumption here that size = effectiveness is rather scary, but then I don't see anyone buying into this on this thread anyway. ... I'll respectfully disagree with him getting backing. I believe France and Germany had already played delaying tactics and this example was just another one of them. They had supported ultimatum before and then backpedaled.... I'm not sure what you mean by "started the whole process years earlier". GWB was only in office a year. Can you clear up? But in the last question, we agree that both candidates would have launched a war of one kind or another - other details aside as there is no way you or I can guess what type of invasion or if the locals would have supported an insurrection type conflict any more than they did with GWB. (In other words, the evidence to go to war is the same for whoever is in government and the same actions might have taken place regardless of who won the office - this makes sense as the previous admin and Congress generally made the same conclusions and Gore wasn't a nutjob. I don't believe Congress' access to most classified data is 'filtered' by the executive branch either as Kallend implies so Congress likely would have supported in the same manner.) ... Nice thoughtful reply. About time. Three questions: Do you really think Gore would have gotten backing from the UN? (I believe we all agreed that France, Germany and Russia had vested financial interest in Iraq maintaining the status quo). I don't believe he would have been any more successful than the current president - despite him being a more polished politician (that's not necessarily a compliment where I come from). And if he failed to get the UN to buy in (to their own previous resolutions), what do you think he would have done? ... Erica - The top of you post is the big issue with the current crop of dems. Example, Clark says, he doesn't believe that Pres Bush did "everything" he possibly could to avoid 9/11. I really am interested in what is on his list of "everything" (and how much it would cost, and how he'd pay for it). But that's never come out listed and I haven't seen a reporter followup that statement of 'everything'. (short - if he had a list of additional things, he'd list them. Since he hasn't, then he's just being a generalist and pandering.) However, hopefully, when a single dem nominee is chosen, maybe they will then start giving details. I think it's likely. At that point we can compare and contrast plans and make a vote that's not all subjective and emotional. ... When in Bangkok, only eat at places where you can see them wash the dishes (no backrooms). And then, only if they have a separate sink for washing from rinsing. Nice vids on the 357 way. Way to go. . . . If we made some wild turn and pounced on the grip, then the whole thing would wobble. etc etc etc Quote Goofball, that's not 'fast', that's clumsy and out of control. But there's a difference and the cliche is way overused. We'd be better served to not spew the cliche and just teach the truth, be clean and smooth. ... Mmmm - Biscuits and gravy I like the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit better than the McMuffin. The biscuit has much more absorbed oils and goodness than the english muffin and better flavor and texture. If you ask for it, you could like get the biscuit or mcmuffin with all the good hog meats (bacon, ham AND sausage). With a slice of process melted cheese between each layer. (and a ladle of gravy on the side). I wonder if I can go through the McD dumpster and find some of this stuff over lunch. Or just wait until tomorrow morning and special order it. You know, if Atkins was of high fat content, they could likely process his corpse for use in a sauage mcmuffin. Fat equals flavor...... Sunshine - nevermind, it was a gummy bear. ... You should get one. If it doesn't work, you can always slingshot it across the airport and then use the carcass for many practical purposes (such as door stops, table shims, etc.) seriously, even a big trailer is pretty small so think hard about the hair and litter box. Cats are fine to leave alone a lot and 730 to 5 is nothing for most breeds (if you are serious about worrying about the cat being lonely, research the breed. Some are very social but 99% are no big deal about solitude). They aren't like dogs which need companionship. I'm a dog person, but we got a cat for my daughter since we are gone frequently. It's working out extremely well. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

Sometimes old skydivers throw out tired cliches and think how clever and zen they are. They are not fooling anyone and it's as educational to hear those lines about as much as anyone of us likes to hear "perfectly good airplane". Hey Amazon - I saw the spending post up above. I think the better metric here is spending as a percentage of GDP to put it into perspective. Not just straight dollars. 1 - I still think the current exec/legis will come out bad. 2 - I disagree with a bunch of the items (prescription drugs for seniors, the immigration bill, the steel tariffs, the boost to the arts, etc.) 3 - Still think it would be worse if the Dems had been in charge since they see the spending increases and argue, typically, 'it should be more'. With either party trying to constantly buy votes at the expense of the rest of us, it just doesn't work anymore to have the same parties in control of both branches at the same time...... ... So then true freeflying might have a martial arts parallel to Jeet Kun Do (Bruce Lee thought that traditional styles were too restrictive, e.g., kicks and blows only approach from up/down/left/right, but in reality should be able to come from all 360 degrees - other examples - he developed this as meaning simply 'do what works'). Lawrocket - you nailed it However, 'real' compassion is tough love, not pity. So I'd say those who made on their own are more, not less, compassionate in that giving too much charity weakens those who expect (and eventually demand) it and we are much too compassionate to create dependencies in others. ...
