  1. Yay!!! no special subsidies no special penalties just let them be businesses and the public will choose who they support by being customers or not ... 2. How about starting with the technology of drug testing? You mean like peeing in a cup? Come to think of it, if everyone stood for thousands of miles along a single line of longitude and, in unison, whizzed in a westerly direction, the eastward thrust would be substantial. too late - patent application pending Edit: too late to copyright the concept as a solely owned artistic effort. already done. except they all pee on tightly wrapped blankets while humming Born to be Wild both Nevada and Minnesota provided state government art grants for the effort ... 3. Don't worry about it, it's clearly ok to make fun of people with Alzheimers as long as it blindly supports a political agenda. Even if the agenda is just character bashing. ... 4. That's pretty unusual. I rarely even have to hand the clerk my card these days. So this is a digression, using a credit card voting. BUT - Why on earth would you be happy that your credit card is used and they don't confirm it's your credit card? It's not something I'd brag about. Right on my card I don't sign it, I write "Please check ID" - I'm pretty upset whenever any place doesn't and I let them know it. It's irresponsible. Frankly, these stores should be held liable for any credit card fraud if that's their policy (rather I suspect the workers are careless and/or lazy) draw an analogy to voting or not, I don't much care ... 6. He absolutely deserves the numbers he has. He earned them with great effort, or at least great apathy. Stop agreeing with each other, it makes me very confused and I can't tolerate Speaker's corner when you guys are like this. Sooooo cold So very cold ... 7. no, the drugs have to be ignored....this time seems the only correct answer - even though it sucks Too late for the cop to provide any additional evidence that the stop was warranted otherwise... ... 8. 1 - cops should know the law. Ignorance of the law is a terrible excuse for those that work in the industry as professionals. However: 2 - if it was an innocent miss. As a minimum, he needs to be retrained and tested on it. At least as far as his duties are concerned. Then if it happens twice, we move to #3 2.1 - I think the same leniency should be applied for people being stopped also. So many laws are too random to just be able to know via common sense. Subjective issues like this (that didn't result in another citizen suffering any type of hardshipt) should be handled with a warning only the first time. repeat offenses after a warning then it's not ignorance, it's on purpose. I don't see cops do this, but I do see this very often and fairly if you go plea the situation (window tint, too big of a license plate frame, etc etc etc) - except in greedy left wing districts that cook tickets for more revenue. 3 - if it's an excuse and he really did know, then it's crooked 4 - I don't see how we tell if #2 or #3 is the truth 5 - regardless, the local cops now know that the driver carries drugs and they can't do anything about this instance. However, in the future....... 6 - You're pretty much an idiot to be carrying serious drugs with you and have stupid potential issues with your car's safety and warning equipment. They shouldn't worry about this guy, he'll get caught anyway, hopefully he doesn't dope up a minor or get into an accident or something in the meantime. Perhaps someone wishes to strawman my comments with a quote "oh - your Honor - I had no idea that beating a guy with a stick and taking his wallet was illegal" and claim that's what I mean in #2.1 ... 11. nonsense - politicians always choose what's best for us and never just put out laws for PR gains. especially in such emotionally charged, complicated and subjective issues like environmentalism further, they never do exactly the wrong thing just because voters THINK it's the right thing we need to trust our leaders ... 12. you are correct and I was using that very loosely and thus incorrectly - I'd rather say (and I think my post addresses) he's being much more outspoken lately on things he really should have boundaries in place. Something he previously did, but now he seems to be ignoring those boundaries in rather poor form and poor taste. I do see this quite often with many completely functional people as they get older - the filter just disappears - for whatever reason. but I generalize, I shouldn't as generalizing is really is something I don't like. ... 13. You are absolutely correct - OUTSIDE the realm of politics, he's done fantastic things and we are fortunate for his contributions to society. Inside of politics he had no idea what he was getting into and he consistently made horrible decisions and was a lousy leader - most likely because he was unrealistic about how reality works. Not surprising for a segment of exceptionally intelligent and idealistic people. Great intentions/terrible results. His issue now? as he's getting senile, he's feeling compelled to weigh in on political events (he stayed out of it for quite some time, so I have to assume his wiring is going off and now he's not all there anymore) - a good president should actually go into the background and respect those that follow him by not butting in. Clinton gets it, Bush gets it, Carter - he's blown a fuse. ... 17. I must have missed the required declaration by Congress. I find the misuse of the words "technically" and "feasible" to be rampant. We should just delete those two words from the dictionary - they are more frequently used exactly 180 degrees from the real definition than the real defs are..... ... 19. absolutely - we need one thing. A fiscally conservative party that stays out of people's business. we have two things - a spendthrift parties that butts in and tries to tell people how to live their lives. And another one exactly the same. but at least people can spend hours arguing "hey my party is less stupidly idiotic than the other party so we should go down that road to destruction instead of the other one." so we got that going for us.....which is nice ... 20. or - had we spent less on the military we'd be safe and prosperus....and we'd have spent less (rather than assume that money is congress's to spend on other things) sometimes spending less just means the citizens get to keep their money - I also don't see that 'zero sum' thing you are talking about - they aren't taking the same and just picking an choosing, they are taking more and more and fighting over who gets to spend the 'extra'. I'd love a zero sum game where we get to trade off budget decisions, not best, but much better. ... 21. Given a choice between my money feeding a bum in my country or lining Hamid Karzai's pocket I'll choose the wino every time. I don't understand why this is an either/or proposition. It should be an individual choice of how they spend their own money. Andy - can feed a bum Rush - can line anyone's pocket he likes me - I might not do either, I might purchase bacon Billvon - might not do either, he might buy a solar panel, maybe bacon, or a new pro-track Wendy - she can buy whatever the heck she likes, I'd not be surprised if she feeds a good friends, or gets a present for her kid etc etc etc it crosses the line when I start to tell the other four what to spend on - for that matter, when people group up into two camps and the goal is spending OTHER'S money, that when it become a 'choose between two things and only two things' - it's sad that this is the place where some people BEGIN the debate. let alone the strawmen we see once it does devolve that way - "I'd rather feed a homeless child than buy a missile" "I'd rather defend a city with single moms from invaders than feed some freeloader that could get a job today" ...
