  1. And, frankly, the man should be absolutely RESTRICTED from helping the woman in any way in the raising of his offspring.. Unless invited to by the woman in a formal and non-demanding way to have the option to do so. This would also apply to married couples of course as the wife may choose to abort or not regardless of her husband's position on the matter. ... 2. The final choice is the womans' and hers alone - it's her body. In a nation of individuals, responsibility and decisions are tied together intimately. So - The choice is 100% hers, therefore, all the responsibilities are 100% hers. Abort or not Use contraception or not Raise the child Pay for college Pay for the medical bills etc It makes sense right? If one is to simplify the equation so much, then the man should be responsible for NONE of these if the main choice is 100% the woman's. And that includes any taxes that would be needed to support programs associated with raising children. His contribution would be completely voluntary without government or personal pressure of any kind. It would really be charity, in fact. The exception is rape, that wasn't her choice - in that case, the rapist made the choice. He pays for it all. And goes to jail for the rest of his life. ---This is over-simplified to respond to an over simple position held by many, but it's a logical conclusion and we haven't broken this old ground yet (again) and the current trend of emotional crying in the thread is wearing thin. So instead of the right vs wrong of the primary topic, how about digressing to the concept of choice = responsibilities and who is willing to 'man' up, so to speak, to that concept. ... 6. I can't think of any Bush actions that would be categorized as heroic, by any definition. He didn't put himself in harms way - he didn't even show for the state national guard. Standing resolute in ones convictions against political opposition has been labeled courageous at times, but I don't believe I can point to any of those that were made either. Going to war against Iraq was very popular politically in 2003, and up until the 2006 midterm elections which hurt the GOP, not Bush. "refused to back down", stuck to his guns" Just using the same standards laided down in the post. nonsense, Tiller stood toe to toe against those 'viable life masses' man to man so to speak, it was him or them - while Bush hid behind a desk ... 9. This is actually one I could join you and get behind, but I can't take it when the word "free" comes out. I'm not a fan of forcing one demographic to pay for it and not another (Tom's idea). 11. do you mean tax payer provided birth control? I wonder if there is a road forward in having pro-life groups subsidize birth control? I'm not pro-life, and I understand that some pro-life folks are against birth control too, but I wonder if you could get them to kick in funding for long-term birth control, to reduce the number of abortions? If it were voluntary support? I'm all for it. But no one here ever talks about voluntary. ... 12. nonsense, it's SOP - since one guy is in only 4 or 8 years (typ), then the position is defined by blaming the status quo wait until the Dems decide that 8 years "just isn't enough" and they install the king for life - that's the end goal. 14. I'm torn on the issue, but I continue to see extreme examples put forth instead of the core issue. Pro-choice people talk examples in this way: "Extenuating circumstances justify abortion, therefore (?) it needs to be on-demand for any reason" I understand the argument, but not the conclusion. I have a similar issue with Pro-lifers that would require life 'no matter what' - denial of scenarios for extenuating circumstances is not realistic. The "on demand without a justification" crowd is just pushing an agenda without thought and it's impossible to respect that crowd. abortion for medical reasons, or to abort a defective baby - I understand abortion in cases of rape, etc - I understand for convenience and birth control - hard to accept that, but if so, absolutely no reason to do it except right away so I'm somewhere between Pro-Life considering special cases....and Pro--choice, but only the first tri.... ... 16. Not a universal truth. Not applicable in this case, but abusive PMs or email enjoy no privacy under netiquette (though 15 years later, the word is unknown to most). I disagree - abusive PMs have 2 courses of action. Refer privately to a moderator. and block the sender. The only thing I'd 'break' the privacy rule is if someone PM'd to me about how they are going to attacked someone else. I'd refer to a moderator and block that sender, but I'd also warn the intended victim. ... 17. So my 2nd camp I was still wearing my FF helmet (Mindwarp) in the tunnel for Mantis practice.... During a drill I tool a huge shot to the chin from my teammate's knee and it rang my bell something good (and I've taken some good shots when I was competing in marial arts, and this was better than any of them). The attendant watched me, and as soon as I shook it off and grinned at him, he grinned back a stepped back from the entry. I had a Z1 on order within a week. It's fantastic and I wish I had tried one years before. Other question - I've had a Z1 for nearly 8 years and a dozen tunnel camps, etc and have never had the visor open on me unexpectedly. ... 21. That would be a party that I could wholeheartedly support. How do we pull this off? Both parties are ready fracture, but neither will do it while the other party stays whole - so we wait for one to collapse under it's own weight and the midline party to form from the ashes..... either way, it'll let the OTHER nuts take over for a while - they'll start bailing out banks and industries, nationalizing everything, butting into everybody's private activities, taking all the income and putting us into bad economies etc etc etc - good thing that's not happening. Sad, I think the first party to choose to fracture out from their nutjobs (picture the Reps losing the uber-hawks and the religious nuts, and the Dems.....well......LOTS of splinter groups) and adopts a more libertarian viewpoint will absolutely draw out like minded people from the other party. It's inevitable, it's just a matter of how much damage the two current parties will do until it happens one way or the other. ...
