  1. nope and nope but that type of bias he has and what you are showing typically come from very similar sources But if bluster and threats is what you equate with justice, then good luck with that. It's pretty popular here. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

  3. I suspect there is an age correlation here as well. I think there are 3 kinds of drivers 1 - clueless (they think they are excellent) 2 - average (everybody else - I mean, seriously, driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants.) 3 - people that have done formal training and actually do know more than those in the first two groups think of themselves. so I'd say just about everybody should be in average. ... 4. So I'll clarify further - as you know, in engineering we have this situation all the time. So which is more productive to finding the real solution 1 - "there are pluses and minuses to both, and there's no clear winner. So let's do the same experiment a few more times to get more data. I refuse to recommend a course of action yet. " 2 - "there are pluses and minuses to both, and there's no clear winner. So let's make and executive decision to move down path B and see if that works for us. We can always revert to path A if this doesn't work right. " lot's of variations on that (such as adding more decision criteria, etc), but I find we make more headway with scenario 2 than scenario 1 and, I fully expect someone to respond to this with the "what if the decision is a bridge design? what then? huh? HUH?" and that's fine, it's part of the other scenario thing ... 5. Adam completes middle school (grades 6-8) in three years. Bob takes 15 years to complete the same three grades. During the last nine years of Bob's middle school attendance, Adam went on to graduate from high school, earn an undergrad degree and started grad school. But, in the end, they both earned their middle school educations. kinda a 'so what' point isn't it? the smarter guy has more potential, by definition, as long as he uses it, this also moves into application of learning as well so I agree with you Edit: I'm so indoctrinated with the 'typical' SC bullshit, that I was sure you were intending to call that a social inequality/unfairness situation when one person is smarter than the other - then I read the next couple posts and see you were just clarifying my point. sorry about that trip down the left/righty stereotype path (retroactively) ... 6. absolutely - also IQ can be inferred from the number of repetitions it takes for one to learn something. Guess what - I you take 3 reps to learn something, and the other guy takes 15 reps to learn something. You might just be smarter. (but in the end, you both learned it) ... 8. I believe that the most important mental discipline is the ability to make decisions. I find this is VERY often inversely related to direct IQ. (it does relate to risk averse personalities and the unwillingness to be wrong). It's a huge point to balance between: dumb - bad decisions super intelligent - no decisions balanced - good decisions which take into account risk ... 9. I think it comes from people that are SO narcissistic, that they just can't possibly imagine someone that would disagree with their "obviously" superior viewpoint. They accomplish four things: 1 - they come up with a shallow "excuse" as to why the other person can agree with them - validating, in their minds, their position as the more logical one - making themselves feel like they are superior 2 - they belittle the other person - making themselves feel like they are superior 3 - they think they cut off the argument so they don't have to try any more - allowing them to rest and appreciate their feeling of self-wonderfulness 4 - something else - I like lists it's really cool - everybody's doing it edit: or......they just have chips on their shoulder and can't help but throw it out there all the time
  10. you keep saying they admitted threatening help me find those quotes - All I saw was an old fart who says "we gave him a few options" or something like that. 11. he is not denying them the right to vote - they can get their ID and then vote if a non-citizen votes that IS a crime - how do you propose it be enforced so that legal voters are not disenfranchised? If a non-citizen votes for candidate A, and you vote for Candidate B - (the only two on the ballot). Don't you consider that his action denied you your vote? In terms of you getting to vote, how is that different from that person kidnapping you the day before and duct taping you to a flagpole until the polls close? why don't you think having your vote count matters - is the only thing you consider important is just the act of going to the poll and pushing a button - even if it doesn't count? ... 12. I hate running and running hates me. But I like the cross trainer/elliptical (has to have the hands move too though) You're in your 20's - it was ok to prioritize - strength, cardio, flexibility 30's - cardio, strength, flexibility 40's - whole different animal - flex, cardio, strength Every day - cross trainer and stretching (the stretching is very extensive now - I use the P90X routine as best I can remember) - that's an hour total since I've maxed out the cross trainer resistance (about 30 min each cardio and stretch). I'll just stretch in odd moments too - I'm really not flexible and want to fix that. odd days - dumbells for chest and tri and arms (instead of bars or machines, I believe dumbbells give more to the stabilizers) even days - back and legs or I go rockclimbing for the evening I'm really neglecting abs and rotator cuffs though. But I'd need to choose to set aside more time to add that in - cuffs are easy and don't take much time - the core work would require more. once I hit my target flexibility, I'm going to try the P90X sequences per the plan and see if that covers all the bases instead of my current efforts. I think shocking the system might have more benefit than just grinding away every day I really like yoga, great workout, but I can't stand the videos with the 'moonbat' trainers and their idiotic spirituality aspect they're smoking on. "C'mon people VISUALIZE the toxins flowing away from your ORGANS" shut up and feed the workout to me correctly (I do like the p90 yoga, it's type A without the moonbat) ... 16. following posts show you getting the wind drift contribution as the main cause. so I'll edit for the throw only scenario now - what about 'throw' (example) --- a no wind day.... in this case throwdoes affect separation - if you think about it - the FF get more throw than belly (belly decelerates more effective in the horizontal direction as they present more surface area) so you still want belly out first as the reduced throw increases separation from the faster falling groups however, on a no wind day, I think there's likely plenty of time between groups that it wouldn't matter anyway And - if there is a newbie (self proclaimed) "freeflyer" on the load. I also don't trust his flailing about either and might send him out first. I can add enough delay to still stay safe. and - people that obsess on tracking perpendicular to jump run (not a tracking dive, just separation tracking) are an annoyance - separation between groups should be sufficient for any track direction (even up and down flight lines) - but, on a 1 or 2 way it's an extra safety margin that (that we shouldn't need) ... 18. careful, there, Lucky - I'm assuming you are also pro-union, so the pecking order must be supported in your answer even though it conflicts with your other philosophies..... 21. absolutely except 1 - even below some percentage there should be a small tax so all citizens understand they have ownership in the government - I'd be in favor of a token low percentage up to a certain amount, then a step to a flat tax above that amount 2 - why deduct for any kind of donation - that's a private transaction so the gov shouldn't get involved in that either ... Cliff - I don't think having an 'instant excuse argument' like this is your get out of jail free card you might try getting to know a few local cops in your area as friends to help you get over your issues surprisingly enough, if you play pool and talk about life with a couple cops, you totally forget about the extra fingers and the gills they have that indicate they aren't real people instead of aliens. ...
