  3. Thanks a TON, Sunny as it turns out, it's even better than I thought. The last party, some old fart with green ink stains on his hands bought my entire inventory with a bunch of SUPER RARE 3 dollar bills. Hell,,, they are so rare not even the bank will take them. And now, in fact, I think the Treasury department is going to buy them from me - they want me to stay home and wait for their reps to come and 'appraise the evidence'. They talk funny, apparently, "evidence" must be what they call really rare currency. I hope they give me a prize....

that's a good solution - he gets the work on days he is specifically asked to work. he just doesn't show up and expect to take precedence over the senior contractors nicely handled by the DZO ... Seriously, the two of you should get with the DZO and see if there is any way to get more business. If you succeed, then you'll both be thrilled to have a packer and there is still nothing wrong with the kid making money packing - it's the DZO that decides, not you or the other contractor ... absolutely - when does the other instructor write a post mentioning that his DZ is slow and the other instructor's kid is now taking away his livelihood by stealing his potential income. I think the real solution here is for both the instructors to help the DZO find ways to increase the business so everyone profits. The kid packs for the instructors, the instructors keep flying all day so they make Tandem/AFF money instead of packing money, the DZO gets more biz, the pilot flies more, etc etc etc. ... 11. Dear Sunshine - I find I'm a bit ashamed of this activity. I've recently been buying discount markers before parties. Then, about half way through, and few adult beverages, I bring them out and sell them to all the old farts that have been nursing drinks - especially effective for the ones that seem to be staring and pointing at the young light weights that are nodding off. Problem is, I'm really cranking up the price and feel like I'm taking advantage, financially, of these fossils. How do I continue to make the money and not feel bad? Signed, Conflicted ... 12. not likely applicable to this trailer, but the smaller ones usually have a bed stuck in a corner. All trailer beds are custom sized, IMO, but a Queen normal will usually fit in a trailer queen slot and only have a little extra length at the foot - no biggie. We did that on our camper - the foot of the mattress overhangs about 4 inches vs the mattress that came with it. but the "full size" really splits the diff between a real full and a twin - for that, if you find a mattress wholesaler that builds their own, you can get a real full with a row of springs removed and then finished as normal for a good deal and it fits tightly and normal into those spaces. Locally, our place was called The Mattress Factory. (we had that for our previous camper) we did firm pillowtops for both updates - absolutely worth it don't drill holes in the walls if you can help it - surface integrity inside AND out is important. 3M sticky hanger/hooks are fine for all that. Seal up the entire outside - water finds its way, even UP between siding seams (think windy days) ... 14. Then you admit that the 'dirtier air' point was bogus? It's a start. His comment was bogus in that it was phrased falsely - and unnecessarily confrontative as it was a strawman accusation. Regardless, the point he was making (strawman or not) was clear enough and could have been responded to without the semantics pissing contest. And the, right here, Mike - Bill pretty much owned the silly comment (at least as best as he can) - at that point, you could have just stopped. Or at least just answered the intent of what he was saying rather than the mis-wording of that intent. But no. you guys always have to try to declare victory. Now we have a freakin' entire page of tit for tat and more of this semantic childishness, Kallend smells that and dives in, and, now, rush too and we'll have another page of the same stupid crap. With this crowd, it'll never end. happy? ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants
  15. But none of these are additional expenses in order to perform volunteer work. The only one here that might be such an example is if you needed to get a class A license to drive the fire truck rather than the class C (California designations) used for personal cars. really? We've done lake cleanup activities, I've had a friend do some explore and rescue work in lakes - So should all our PADI expenses should be paid by the taxpayer? Volunteering means you have a skill set you are offering to the community. Obtaining that skill set is your business and expense. Not necessarily the taxpayers'. each local government should be able to decide on their own if they CHOOSE to pay or not. When times are tough, then it seems like cutting as many expenses as possible is a good thing - teaches the officials to prioritize what they want to spend it on. Edit like Billvon's response - IF the community wants to pay, then find the funds by cutting something else. If the citizens don't like it, no one stops them from conducting a fundraiser, either. People are lazy - no one does fundraisors any more for these things - the default action is to bitch about it and try to force the government to do it for them. ... 16. Only going back two administrations: 8 years of out of control spending 4 more years of TURBO out of control spending Mitt or Newt would be a real boost to the voters saying with strong conviction - "Damn it, I'm tired of it all and want to return to just regular out of control spending" RP would be a nice statement that we can't stand either party and their socially driven spending philosophies - the chaos he'd bring to all the other areas of government would be worth it just to hear the fiscal common sense and see a few spending vetoes and actually have someone that understands the intended structure of the country as originally laid out. As for Huckabee 2012........we can hope Rick goes down the same path to obsolescence and a Fox news opinion show. Hopefully sooner than later. He'd just be Obama from the other side - we tried that for 8 years and no one was happy there. Any of them would be an improvement, but it's a matter of real steps vs idiotic teeter tottling. ... 20. So please explain how keeping the status quo will 'resulting in dirtier air' than...the status quo. so that was a dizzying cycle of strawmanshipmansship a lost "opportunity" or lost "entitlement" (used as a term to describe a potential gain) is an oxymoron. But similar in philosophy to claiming that not getting a raise is a "pay cut". So one can see how the dizzying intellect of gov-speak makes the argument 'seem' usable even though it's a pile of dung. Counting our eggs is a silly game before they get gathered. It's such an entitlement (used as a term of when the gov' "owes" me something) mindset. ... 23. I disagree - they are politicians for one reason, to exercise power over others - rather than as you note, to only accrue a benefit from those actions political reasons are why they sometimes restrain themselves because their personal desires would threaten the long term retention of that power I'm sure most politicians have a list of things they'd love to do if only they could get away with it with the political criteria being neutral rather than a benefit hint - it's all that 'stuff' that both sides try to scare the other side with ...
