  1. THERE IT IS!!! (I'm amazed at how this single simple point is just so blithely missed. Saddened that the default is 'spend it where I want it spent' instead of "it's a cut, pay off the debt with it, or don't take it from the people in the first place") ... 2. absolutely - and trillions of dollars in military spending takes those jobs away from the private sector, and trillions of dollars in 'social programs' takes those jabs away from the private sector we know where a LARGE chunk of the problem is ... 3. it's not an either/or scenario - spend it here vs spend it there 4T is a LOT of money that decent citizens could have kept in their pockets and spent and invested and hired people with in the private sector once you guys stop thinking about spending cuts as just a means of the government stealthily keeping the money and spending it elsewhere (not really 'cuts' now is it?) then we'll make some progress ... 4. I would contend that we should already be teaching that the first statement should already include the 2nd as one of the considerations. Though, on a windier day, the winds are typically steadier and it's not a real reach to say that I'll be landing into the wind for sure. I think the application of the concept is, I'll contend, really one that has to do with turbulence tolerance (totally different than just wind speed). Or even about winds on a wind that's 'shifty' day. If you get my drift.... Short hand - if it's steady, I'll jump up to 25mph, no problem. But if it's bumpy/shifty, that number goes WAY down. I can sit and watch the tandems jump for fun at that point...... edit: maybe it's the same thing, I guess if it's steady, I'm ok with the downwind landing, I won't like it, but I know how to ride it out. I'm not one of the guys that do it on purpose, so that's a different discussion. ... 8. let's be specific since you stated one scenario (guy shots the felon while felon is in gunfight) and then tried to say it's ok to shoot the felon while unconscious and bleeding in a boat. 1 - During fire fight, Tsarnaev is shooting at cops and citizens - go ahead and shoot him. Thanks, saved lives. But, seriously, you think you can shoot him when the cops failed? 2 - Tsarnaev is bleeding and helpless in the boat - swallow your outrage and don't shoot him, get the cops instead who have a duty to arrest him and not kill him passively or directly. Those are your legal options. You take the other road, thanks for removing the threat. Sorry, but you also have to go to jail as well. simple enough? ... 10. seriously, what exactly would that accomplish? - are you so sensitive you that you can't ignore a couple news stories - perhaps you think this will make her raise her next kids better? (I'd believe she's done having kids - does she have a couple younger ones?) what's the end game other than to placate people that are so narcissistic that they can't handle a couple news stories that they'd try to shut someone up that's slightly disturbing them - I thought restricting speech and controlling the press and forcing people to think and talk to the 'approved' public sensitive PC script was a left wing end game.... do you advocate consistently that parents be punished for the crimes their kids do? how about the grandparent? how many generations do you want to go to get away from personal responsibility? Again, that's something I'd expect from a left winger. you certainly are not left from what I can tell ... 11. if you have to ask, of those four it would be Ann (it would be ok, but uncomforable, like doing an ex girlfriend), Michelle would be next (Ok, but like doing your friends very "sturdy" sister), after that, I'd probably choose the knife..... but it's a loaded question like asking if you'd like to have a cheap hot dog for lunch vs a large piece of cardboard vs 2 different types of feces..... but,,,,,different strokes for different folks ... 14. You post in here a fair amount. You should probably have at least a vague idea of certain regulars' positions on common topics. he thinks I'm just like YOU that's it, I'm gonna start doing CrW on the weekends again. I don't need no stinking baths anymore. It's really difficult to see Dr Sheldon Cooper and be anything but thrilled to read the posts. That TV character is so funny... I wonder if there's a good psychological study on how people relate to the icon one uses and how it mitigates the reception of the context of one's posts.. Airdr - you are a remarkable mix of really good posts and then tangential weirdness that I just can't connect to the rest of your stuff. I think it's FANTASTIC. really ... 16. actually, I tend to. There are liberals, there are 'liberals', and then there are self proclaimed "I am better than everyone else" LIBERALS, and then there are just people that might be open minded and don't label themselves. I tend to bump everyone into that 3rd group if they actually call themselves that, unfortunately. It's not because they are the majority of the group. Just the loudest subgroup of the bunch that do a lot of damage and make the rest look bad. I suspect the same thing happens with conservatives, and with hot dog vendors too.... it's not fair, and I try to see the word and think, wow, that's a liberal portion of hot fudge on that sundae. forget the term, and observe the actions. People aren't that much different no matter what group they think they are in or try to label themselves as. really ... 19. I'd default to the position to NOT further traumatize the mom just because I don't like how she thinks about a subject. Facts and law will guide the rest of the needed actions. Mom won't be a real factor there either way. We have enough people already trying to force people to think like they think. I don't have the desire to do it in a one-on-one manner. ... 20. OK - you now have plenty of people and builders that can help. If you find someone local, that's nice because shipping costs a bunch due to the weight. good luck (IMO - just don't buy a weight vest - it messes up your weight disty and if you had any tunnel training, then know you want the weight around your waist and no higher.) ... 21. for RW, FF or canopy loading? My wife makes three kinds - www.skimmersuits.com 1 - normal belt (usually 10-15 pounds, 10 pouches, straight form) 2 - a 5 pound thin format (usually supplements/added over the top of the other belts) 3 - the super comfy one that has a lumbar support form (really popular with a lot of freefliers).... I don't think that's up on the site yet. I'll try to find a picture. I use the lumbar one for RW, don't need weights for FF though. It's getting super popular (not Freeflying, that belt is getting popular with freeflyers) Edit: Here it is http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4282190#4282190 There's a picture in the link and it's also a good discussion. 23. whether you prefer to call him a terrorist or not - nor the amount of outrage you fell - neither is jsutification to bypass the rule of law in the country. Get over that first. Else this is just posturing and emotion on your part (or you are trying to run for congress and want the votes of the dumb and emotional crowd) and nothing substantial in the discussion. 2nd question - If the citizen would have murdered the 'terrorist' in cold blood while not in any immediate threat (or noting immediate threat to others) from that same? I suspect he would have been thanked by many (again, not for any reason that has to do with process and law). Then, he clearly should also have been arrested tried and sentenced (also correctly). Some congressmen might have tried to score points by attempting to get him off - it would have a bunch of public support - but it wouldn't change the fact that it was a vigilante move and illegal as hell, and morally wrong to boot. Here's the deal - MAN UP on the topic. If you are perfectly willing to murder the suspect in cold blood. Admit it's illegal and wrong, and you are willing to personally TAKE THE CONSEQUENCES of that act - up to and including the death penalty in this case. Don't try to rationalize a vigilante position as anything but exactly what it is. There is nothing more dangerous than a person that feels they are absolutely and morally entitled to break the law on a whim....because they'll do it again and again and again. ...
