PD Forcing Residents From Home During Boston Manhunt

That's insightful, courteous and helpful. but screw him if he can't make a url clicky.... ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants -
But Bill, you have to admit the facts are the facts: 100% of Islamic extremists who were involved in acts of terrorism in the US have been Muslim. I understand that some Muslims also may own or run large corporations. And some may possibly work at Walmart. ... Now THAT I see all the time. digression - city people also don't understand the difference between a child and a pet either. Try to explain why their damn dog is NOT really 'just like having a kid' and you get the same type of obtuse lack of understanding also..... ((this particular topic generates some REALLY weird discussions disconnected with reality - more than the gun thing)) ... ouch, you think this big a swing from expectations to invoice is a good analogy for any rigger you've ever met? Edit: or, at least any rigger you've ever met that stayed in business for long? ... agreed and you can 'protect yourself' in many ways 1 - get to know your customers personally and be flexible enough to handle it 2 - have them all sign an agreement 3 - ask them each about expectations before they leave the rig with you 4 - weird checklists 5 - ESP 6 - etc etc etc that's all this is about - find what works for you and your customer base ... It's funny how hard, however, they work to keep people from smoking tobacco, exercising their 2nd amendment rights, or getting your kids happy meals. that's what 'compromise' is for: that way they all win - no gay marriage, no happy meals, weird-ass lightbulbs, no guns, no smokes, prayer in school (but in an enviromentally friendly way), unequal rights for some, more taxes AND more borrowing, background checks and psych evals for buying everything and to vote,.... everyone wins ... I'm also very impressed with people that throw the f-bomb into each post. If I see 4 or five of those, I'm not only impressed with their manliness, but I give weight to what will clearly be a well thought out, reasoned opinion. I like to read them out loud to seniors at the retirement homes. ... I know a lot of REALLY GOOD riggers. Fantastic riggers. I trust them all. I also know Mark personally and he is the best of them all. Here's what you are missing. Mark knows his customers and he pretty much does his best to accommodate their needs based on those relationships. I'm pretty sure that if he knew someone that would prefer pre-notification before extra work - he'd respect that. And any other option too. Your customers all have defaults and they are all different. So just finding out what their preferences are is all that's needed. Frankly, having the checkbox on the form is a good idea. So is just asking quickly upon receipt of the rig. So is being friends with your customers. they all work. Perhaps the better discussion here is one about each of you figure out what your customers' preferences are on the subject rather than comparing your one size fits all positions on it...? ... since when does torturing animals constitute free speech?
rehmwa replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
innocent and delicious actually, to the OP topic.... Freedom of Speech is a bit twisted when applied to 'art' (or whatever people call it), and expression other that word and print.....But it's clear that it's only limited by the law, especially in terms of 'inferential' speech. Example - Flag burning. I guess we are supposed to infer or "feel" that the "speaker" is expressing distaste for something they may or may not feel about the country that flag belongs to. Though more effective speech would be to come right out and say it....clearly they are cowardly, or bad with words, so they feel they need to elicit an emotional response....maybe because they haven't put any thought or logic into their actual position..... So - they are free to burn a flag. Their flag. They are NOT allowed to burn another's flag without his permission (that's stealing and arson). They are NOT allowed to burn the flag and risk fire to another's property or in a way to put others in danger. They are NOT allowed force others to watch them burn the flag, they are NOT...... the point is to exercise the right without breaking other laws, or infringing on other's rights. Then one can exercise their rights in as stupid a fashion as they care to. Filming animal torture is pretty stupid. there are already laws against animal torture. They just provided proof. So bust them on that. Free Speech isn't really in the mix and it was a stupid defensive gambit that a cowardly judge wasn't able to call them out on. DanG's comments were right on target - which 5 counts were dismissed, which 2 were upheld....? need to know that ... just like Hitler would (I think it's horrible overall, but there's not much to talk about since I doubt anyone will disagree. So it's pretty much going to degenerate into posturing and commiserating emotional outrage. Thus - cat people vs dog people tangent. You have the option to continue to curse and call names and flex a bit and tell everyone how you'd handle the judge and the two jerks if got them into a room alone. I'm confident that a higher court review will come to the correct decision and the two will get a fitting punishment.) ... I'm always turned off by the tough/preening talk like that post. However, what I think is reasonable to read into it is the position that one's home is private and due process is important. Just because Lawrocket is a bit more elequent in communications, doesn't mean that Lurch's post isn't essentially the same position just presented with a little bluster. I support his position. Skydivers are full of bluster. ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants -

How should Tsarnaev be handled? Criminal or Enemy Combatant?
rehmwa replied to jgoose71's topic in Speakers Corner
not because of the info he might have, not for the sake of interviewing him, not for any of those kinds of reasons - but because the job is to apprehend him - if the cops would have been exposed to an unreasonably unsafe situation, then they might have kept him contained until he died. But they were able to take him, so they should. Cops don't get to make decisions to execute. they can only use deadly force to protect others or themselves in the face of an immediate threat. At that point, apparently the jerk wasn't an immediate threat any more. They certainly don't get to take your position to "manufacture" a reason to kill him or let him die. This isn't a poorly made Steven Seagal B movie of the week. ... This. Every time something like this happens and we're lucky enough to take a perpetrator alive, people bay for blood with the rationale of "it's what they did/would do to us!". I'm so fucking tired of it. We're supposed to be better than that. That's the whole fucking point. I agree with Managing Prime - I also find it ironic that your reply is an emotionally charged statement that expresses frustration at people reacting in an emotionally charged way. ... rehmwa replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I appreciate everything you are saying here. with one exception giving the cops the benefit of the doubt is also an example of due process etc. Once it's proven otherwise (in each individual case) then you can go to town on them. I think upholding the process matters whether it's one, two, or hundreds of guys also. ...
