How many jumps before you replace your pilot chute?

I have, as long as it's working they said it was fine. -

I have over 800 on mine and no issues with it. Although it sure doesn't feel crispy anymore But it got me to thinking when should I replace it? -
I used to all the time, even after I got back from attending school in England. Then they changed the rules and will not allow you to donate if you were over there more than three months I think.

Wasn't me and didn't see the person do it. But did see the aftermath in the hospital this morning. I'm not scurred to land downwind Who was it?

Nice! Where's the video?

Alright, I need some video camera advise
tetra316 replied to freefalle's topic in Photography and Video
Whoops that's what I get for posting when I'm tired. Yep it's a 32. -
I have a HC 32 that I bought of ebay for under $300 brand new. Works great. If I remember right the only difference between that and the 26 is the still photo capability. The 26 cannot take stills.

I have a HC 36 and it does come with a lanc port. The 26 do as well I'm pretty sure. Great quality for tandems and cost under $300 brand new off ebay. -
Top Mount on the Optik Illustion Question...
tetra316 replied to dabase's topic in Photography and Video
I have my video camera on top. Had a local metal shop make an aluminum metal L bracket that I screwed into the helmet as well as the camera. Also added a strap under the bracket and around the camera. Very lightweight and compact. Cost about $35. -
I had planned on getting a canon elph to use as a still cam for tandems. Only when I called skydance they said they no longer modify them since canon quit making them. Is there any other similar still cam that is modified that would work> I don't the $ to buy a rebel nor do I want the weight or size of one. Just looking for one that would work with tandems.

I think so too. I'm looking at getting an individual plan once I go back to school since it seems to be a lot cheaper than both going cobra and the schools plans. After talking with the rep he said bluecross has no exclusions for extreme activities like skydiving. Just got the info in the mail so hopefully I'll be able to figure it out myself.

I plan on contacting pd but was unsure if it would be good protocol to ask them to reline it with hma as it probably still has under a 100 lines on the new lineset. Plus the added expense.
-
Sorry about the ignorance but how is hma and technora different? In simple terms..
-
What do you mean by that? No benefits to relining with 'standard' hma?
-
I really don't know much about high performance canopies but I know that much I was looking for some more specific experiences or if anyone knows if pd has changed their recommendation for lining the canopy.
-
(Note: I plan on contacting pd with this question, but I just keep forgetting to at work.) So what kind of lines are on your katana? I bought mine second hand right after a reline at pd and they relined it with microline. I've also heard a couple people say pd now has recommended the katana be lined with hma. Is there a wingloading factor in this recommendation, like high wl definitely, and a lighter one not so much?

Tandem Instructor Poll: After opening - Do you re-attach the lower laterals?
tetra316 replied to clint's topic in Instructors
I disconnect them. ONLY after a controllablity check and BELOW my hard deck. So there's no way I'm cutting away with disconnected laterals. I think it makes landings easier..but then again that's what I was taught. -
Skydive Alaska, especially when you can see McKinley and the nearby glaciers and lakes.

Skydiving injuries and medical insurance

Why? For future insurability reasons? -
Skydiving injuries and medical insurance
tetra316 replied to niolosoiale's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Depends on the insurance companies policies. I specifically asked mine and they stated they will pay for anything skydiving related as long as I was doing it for personal reasons. If you're skydiving for compensation (getting paid), that's where a lot of companies draw the line. -

I'm going to try to get back down there this weekend for the 100 ways. Just did the big way camp and had a blast. I'll be flying into lax or ontario Wed nite and leaving sunday night 7:30 or monday morning from lax or ontario. Anyone else leaving early on sunday? I'm talking to my boss on Tuesday so we'll see what I can take off. If you're interested in sharing rides pm me, especially if you're leaving early sunday since I'll probably have to.
