Yeah, it's not just like, oh I can go anywhere for vacation, hmmm let's go to Israel! This is a really special thing to be a part of. Prolly woudn't get to jump - can't even imagine trying to get my rig thru security... I could rent if I needed to. Sooooo one of my very best friends is getting married in Israel in July. Her fiance's 300 family and friends will be there (he's from there) but not even her (mid-Western) parents are willing to go, let alone any of her friends. Everyone is too scared. My whuffo friends say "No way." I'm thinking skydivers will better understand that this is a huge opportunity - I've never been to Israel and I can't think of a cooler way of getting to know people and really seeing the real life there than being involved in a huge wedding. My first bungie jump was out of a hot air balloon - it was the scariest moment of my life up til then. (second scariest was jumping out of a plane with a board on my feet for the first time!) I've seen made about 30 bungie jumps, many catapault style, frequently highly inebriated. Not much skill involved unless you count learning to grab the cord at the right time so you can do a couple of flips on the way back up. Style points kinda max out right there. I've never gotten hurt and never seen anyone get hurt jumping bungie - just had a lot of fun doing it. Anyone up for a renegage bridge bungie in So Cal? Thanks for posting that, Genie. I am pre-coffee but here's a quick thought / contribution to your discussion. I am amazed at how Americans feel it is their patriotic duty to support the President in time of war. I personally believe it is our patriotic duty question the motivations of anyone in power. Power corrupts, it's a fact, we know it. I want to know WHY we do things and I cannot find out if the press is censored / censoring itself. No one here can tell me why we went in to Iraq. At best some people may have a well thought out idea as to why, at worst, I see a lot of parroting of either party line. We all work and have our lives and do not have the luxury or ability in most cases to do the research. We dont' have access to the information. The press do / does / ought to be doing so. Wahoooo, welcome to the joy of strapping one on! As everyone here has said, it's all about getting training. Keith Snyder at Skydive Arizona was my coach and he ROCKED. Very patient and explains stuff really well. Your profile lists you as a student. Most people won't train you on the board until you have a few hundred jumps and can fly a controlled stand, among other things. So for now, I suggest you just jump your ass off, pay attention to the smarties at your DZ and here on the DZ.com and get some time under your belt. And check out http://www.skysurfer.com (that better be clicky!) which looks to me like the only new website devoted to skysurfing there is.
