  1. News: Government pushes ahead with firearms laws Quote: "THE federal government is pressing ahead with plans to create new aggravated offences for trafficking firearms or gun parts across state and national borders. "These new offences will carry a maximum penalty of life imprisonment," Mr Clare said in a statement. Life sentences are a part of a major reform package announced in June to tackle the illegal weapons market. Federal and state ministers have also agreed to develop a national firearms register and a ballistics identification network..." http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/breaking-news/government-pushes-ahead-with-firearms-laws/story-e6frg13c-1226522914093 Yeah, this is a good move! Lock 'em up forever, and watch illegal guns, and the murders committed with same, plummet. I'm glad to see that someone is serious about the scourge of guns. We need to do this in America too.
  2. News: National German gun registry on target for launch Quote: "The German interior minister has said a countrywide database of all legal gun owners is set for launch on January 1. Hans-Peter Friedrich predicted a "considerable increase in security" as a result." http://www.dw.de/national-german-gun-registry-on-target-for-launch/a-16390894 It's about time that America caught up with the EU and got these killer weapons under control.
  3. Perhaps you would like to explain who Major Nelson is, and what Tango Uniform means.
  4. Quote from "About the book": "Two friends, Jens and Gary, both Dutch, travel in 1992 to California for a sports training camp and are involved in a devastating plane crash. They barely survive; out of the twenty-two people on board sixteen are killed, including two of their Dutch team mates. A young Dutch woman, who unknowingly belongs to a subculture guided by underground powers, is indirectly involved in the accident. Back home she tries to find the Dutch survivors. Jens and Gary experience the most difficult period of their life – having to deal with the grief of losing their friends and recovering from severe injuries. In the period after the accident, their lives start changing. They are caught up in events they never thought possible. Jens and Gary meet occasionally. In intense discussions they discover that not all is what it seems. Twelve years after the accident, several striking signs draw Jens’s attention. “Too many to be just coincidental,” he decides. “Is someone trying to tell me something? Does Gary have a point after all?” he wonders. In 2012, a remembrance day is organized at the crash site. Back in California Jens meets a presumed lost friend. From this unreels secrets, mysteries, and an explanation of them which points to mankind’s true genesis. From it Jens learns how human society was built and what the greatest threat to human survival is." Underground powers, and the genesis of man, oh my!
  5. Why? Why not? Skydivers did it for decades before they were invented, without any problems. They're a lot of hassle. They make running out a landing difficult because they restrict foot movement. The bottoms wear out bringing a premature end to the life of the jumpsuit. And they make some people think that anyone without them is a incompetent or dangerous skydiver.
  6. Did your instructors use the words "pilot chute in tow", or is that your phrase? Are you sure it wasn't really just a pilot chute hesitation? If "in tow", why was it in tow? Was the pilot chute collapsed for some reason? Bridle half-hitched around the pilot chute so it produced no drag? Incorrectly routed bridle? You need to find these things out, and make sure that the source of the problem, whether equipment or procedure, has been corrected.
  7. What is the comparison of CO2 release between burning coal and burning wood? Do they produce the same BTU's, or would you need more of one than the other. How much of the wood burning would be mitigated by live trees reabsorbing CO2? What about other particulates released into the atmosphere from each source? Need more info... I don't have a problem with coal the way my buddy Obama does. Half the electricity in America comes from coal plants. We need it. It can be done cleanly. There's plenty of it. So we ought to use it. I'm not ready to deforest America to replace it.
  8. Headline: "Obama’s ‘Constituency Groups’ Checklist Offers No Options for Whites or Men" Link: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/obama-s-constituency-groups-checklist-offers-no-options-whites-or-men No constituency group for rich white honky muthafuckin republicans either. Go figure...
  9. I didn't bring it in. It's been there all along. Why do you think 95% of blacks vote for black candidates? It ain't because the love rich white honky muthafuckin republicans. If 95% of whites voted only for white candidates, you can bet your rich white honky muthafuckin republican ass that the blacks would sure cry "racism" against them.
  10. 1. Because they like his daddy. 2. Because he's black. 3. Because they hate rich white honky muthafuckin republicans.
  11. It's too variable to refine down to such a finite set of numbers like that. It depends upon the canopy wing loading, canopy type, traffic density, wind speed, wind direction, size and shape of the landing area, and so on. Hitting specific altitude numbers for your turns is the least of your worries, compared to avoiding other canopies int he air, and obstacles on the ground. Keep it dynamic and flexible.
  12. Probably humor. Also free speech and freedom of expression. Guys like Lenny Bruce and George Carlin have pissed off a lot of people using those two things also. And in doing so, they changed laws about censorship. A lot of people probably called them "steaming turds" too for their rude profanity.
  13. You mean like Rosa Parks, Martin King, Henry Thoreau and Mahatma Gandhi? Were they douchebags? You serious? Those were famous people that got recoginzed for doing something important. You think that girl was like any of the above you mentioned? She some sort of hero at their caliber? None you mentioned above was some silly "antiauthoritarian" who got negative attention for being stupid. They actually did something important. One didn't want trouble, One actually got out and created an organization to challenge unfairness, one used a considerable amount of personal dicipline and education to stand up to the Brits, one was published. The original "Breaking the rules" poster made no distinction in his comment regarding the importance of the rule being broken. And those people I mentioned weren't all that famous until AFTER they had won their cause. There shouldn't be separate more lenient rules for law-breaking just for famous people.

  16. From her employer's facebook page, quote: "On Nov. 19 at approximately 6 p.m., we became aware that one of our employees had posted an offensive, inappropriate photograph on her personal Facebook page. The photo was taken at a national historic site in October by a fellow employee during a trip to Washington, D.C. attended by 40 residents and eight staff. The photo has since been removed from Facebook, and both employees have been placed on unpaid leave pending the results of an internal investigation. This photograph in no way reflects the opinions or values of the LIFE organization, which holds our nation’s veterans in the highest regard. We are proud to have veterans serving on our staff and board of trustees, and we value their service. The men and women who have selflessly fought and sacrificed their lives to protect the rights and lives of Americans deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. We are acutely aware that this photo has done a disservice to veterans and we are deeply saddened that it was taken and shared in a public medium." https://www.facebook.com/LIFECapeCod?ref=ts It was just a personal photo, and not done to represent the company for which she works. She didn't wear a staff shirt or anything. So I think they're out of line laying her off work for something she did as a private citizen. I can see where it would be fun getting pictures of yourself violating signs: Walking on grass behind a "don't walk on grass" sign; going into a restaurant shirtless behind a "no shirts, no service" sign, etc. In fact, I kind of like this woman's spirit for such a theme, and she's probably a lot of fun to hang out with. She'd make a good skydiver!
  17. She's just exercising her 1st Amendment right to freedom of expression.
  18. See the thread titled "Not noticing my audible in my new full face Phantom X?" about a dozen lines down. We just covered this.
  19. Then I guess we need to know more abour her role in the way the Libya information changed from the military brieifings up to the White House. Somewhere along the way the inconvenient truth was altered for political election purposes. If she's involved in that, then she's unfit. You absolutely have no idea what motivations might have been involved. Blame "the government" if you want, but I have no doubt whatsoever she was doing the precise job she was supposed to be doing at that moment. "The government" has dozens upon dozens of reasons to say one thing to the UN while the truth might be different. One of them is the safety of remaining individuals posted to the embassy under attack. It's foolish and naive to expect 100 percent and absolute truth in moments such as those. You have no idea whatsoever how much "the government" may be protecting "house guests." Really foolish and insulting to simply assume anything at this point. Gosh, you really jumped to a knee-jerk conclusion there. Notice the parts that I've highlighted in my comment, to which you responded. See how I said "we need to know more", and then followed by a conditional "if"? Yeah, you seem to have missed those in your haste to slam me. Tsk tsk. And the irony is, that you've only made yourself look foolish and naive. Especially in light or your later message #13, where you said the same thing I did, and called yourself open-minded for it. Ha! You seem to be bi-polar, and I ain't talking about white bears. Have a nice day.
  20. The way that rucksack is flopping around between his legs, I hope he's wearing a nut cup.
  21. I thought so too. Would a wingtip slice off a church steeple, or would a church steeple slice off a wing tip?
