  1. Ah yes...I am referring to the 109...sorry.
  2. Fine for tandem vids especially outside vid. I edit a pc9 and 1000 (hand cam) and can definitely see a picture quality diff in focal length (pc 9 seems "zoomed in" slightly or not as wide as the 1000 with the same lens. 1000 also performs better at sunset and with high cloud layers causing a backlit situation when shooting upward. Audio seems to be worse on interviews with pc9. 1000 might offer a better resale too. hope it helps.
  3. I agree with diablo...maybe backfly practice with emphasis on belly to earth transition by pivoting on your head. Like a head down transition from backfly. Mostly legs doing the work with an arch as you rotate over. Backfly will take the velocity out of the spin, transition with a blast from the pelvis and chuck it when you feel yourself going on the belly axis. Barrel roll from the back doesnt work for me as the fetal arms and legs get in the way and requires more arm effort. You have a small window of opportunity. If you wait too long, you'll end up on your side again as the student is probably still in a terrible position. Its the same transition I used to teach freefly students to get on their head...maintain backfly, then arch, head back to look for the horizon behind you and drive with the legs. The good part here is that your arms are mostly out of it...maybe driving with the legs to a back track position and should be right next to the drogue ready to fire. It is the same position many TMs use as a backloop exit on the relative wind. I love this exit as it places my back to the relative wind, not a fetaling student. I just have to backloop 1/2 way and the drogue is already properly positioned to the relative wind and often my hand is on the handle ready to chuck when I see the ground come around. The fetal student actually helps you rotate around but again dont wait... I dont recommend grabbing or grapevining the student. Youve just stopped flying your body at that point and have taken away the power of your legs. Maybe as a last resort to gain control but never as a primary means. Solo sidespin practice is a waste of time. Its like trying to practice grappling by yourself. I recommend practicing the back to head back to belly transition.
  4. I find the cheaper sonys, (ones you can find at walmart) are cropped or "zoomed in" compared to higher end ones like a PC 1000 or cx7. (DSE come to my rescue with the tech reason here) Also, annoying tape motor hiss during the interviews. .3 is not wide enough for handy. couple that with a camera that has a shorter focal length and it is too close. I use a pc1000 with blackeye and my buddy has a pc 109 with same lens and people complain "man your video looks better than mine"
  5. 330 sq ft icarus. Do you guys ever worry about the velocity of a spin under the 330 with no brake setting? Ive been under the PD 340 that wound up real fast with brakes set. I love the idea of lighter pressure and all but when does it become a point of diminishing returns or specically a safety factor when loaded and spinning. Anyone been there? Also, would you put a novice TM under a 330?
  6. wanna come do some tandems with us this year?
  7. Hey guys, Im looking for recommendations on building an editing system for the dz. We're finally ready to go from linear AVE 5 to a computer based system especially with the death of many tape cameras. My computer savvy ends at checking e-mail and MS word so try to keep the phraseology basic. Looking to use sony cx7 HD cameras and leaning towards Vegas. Would also like reasonably fast renders and dvd burning. So, advice on processors, software, storage, memory, graphic cards etc without going overboard on price would be great. josh
  8. Its not so bad until you try to film some high right hand spiral shots! Those hurt...I had a century .3 on it for a while too! Heavy lens.
  9. I have about 300 handys with a PC 330 and it was find for a few months but my shoulder started to get sore from a 10 hand cam day. I would prefer a ligher camera. I like the new Sony CX something. Definetely lighter and betting image is superior. PC 1000 saved my shoulder and thing the cx weighs about the same maybe slightly more. Would imagine the HC 3 and 5 would be heavy.
  10. Guys, Seems like we're going back to big cameras again after years of healthy necks due to the PC age. Remember there are lots of 80's and 90's camera flyers who have permanent neck damage from bulky hi 8 and vx 1000 camera usage. I say keep the quality a tad less and keep yer neck healthy with lighter cameras.
  11. Of course Ill buy one and and next year they'll make one smaller than my pc1000.
  12. cant the cam extend out a bit? Im considering getting a glove for one. Cookie and waycool have gloves for this cam. Its really not that big...lighter than my pc 330 which I used for a bunch of handcams.
  13. the girl who actually shit herself. vomitted too...lost all orifice control.
  14. just adhere to FAR's and you shouldnt need a gps. the suunto wrist watch GPS wasnt fast enough.
  15. Any chance this cam is possible with hand cam? ive got a bunch with a PC 330 so Im used to the weight. Also, Im still stuck in Panasonic AVE 5 analogue mode of editing technology recording to a dvd recorder. Am I wasting my money with this camera? I currently jump a PC 1000 but I am looking for a camera to replace that one (handy). I am a fan of keeping image quality high vs buying budget. josh
  16. one of the few times i hurt my neck was when doing weighted neck exercises. just do the above mentioned ones...no weights.
  17. Another reason why handcam is safer than outside video. (he he he!)
  18. One canopy is new, others have 300 - 1000 jumps
  19. I inspected the canopies and really didnt find alot of twists. Maybe 2-3 full twists coming down the cascade to the toggle. Am I missing something?
  20. any tips here on packing? Our packer is very experienced and in 4 years we have 12 sigma chops vs 0 Icarus. Recently had 2 in one day. I thought of attaching a stoe to the slider for the d lines or steering lines to reduce slack at the throwdown point.
  21. I dont see anything wrong here...she looks hot!
  22. I love the way my sigma 370 lands but my 365 icarus is a close second. the 10 chops on sigma vs 0 icarus has me realizing why deland went to all icarus though. Those dacron lines seem to want to tension knot up.
  23. How about HDR CX7...new high def memory stick cam. josh
  24. i like my pc 1000 clint. hard to find though.
