  1. i have both...prefer the 1000 for hand cam and weight. 330 is a bit big.
  2. Looks like it is not angled back enough, like the way cool glove. Cookie glove is angled more, greater than 45 degrees off the knuckle line, but the cookie construction is lame at best. Ill get one if they are willing to angle it back more. Way cool is not willing to do this last time I asked. I like to have the cam pointing at the student while my arm is at full extension without having to turn my wrist to the right.
  3. Just did one last weekend. We did a video waiver with the student repeating and agreeing with the dictator (lengthy) and proceeded as normal. He was first out and the TM can assist by guiding his legs out the door.
  4. The rig in question here had medium stoes through the grommets and large tandem bands on the sides. No tube stoes and the same experienced packer with thousands of tandem packs. I feel every sigma master should have it in their mind to clear risers and plan to have a bag lock at any time.
  5. Shouln't a bag lock supply at least 30 pounds of pull force?
  6. Riser covers were open. Lots of slack in the lines to the bag lock gave the mal the appearance that there was not enough tension to release the 3 ring. Similar to a horseshoe. TM fired the reserve with the baglock and it clears. Sickening to watch.
  7. I have video of a sigma bag locking and the cut away not releasing the mal. RWS said SOP was to clear risers manually in the event of a bag lock after cut away then deply reserve. josh
  8. Depends if its a male or female pax. Females we hook up backwards so we say raise your legs and cross your ankles around you TM.
  9. So...I'm sure you eat 100% organic and purchase only free trade products since your mentality is that the the consumer should have a 100% best product possible and not one made with cheap or inferior ingredients to maximize profit. Im sorry but many successful businesses have to let go of "best product possible" and go for most profitable product that still sells. It exists in your food, your beer, you toothpaste and yes your tandem video. Your argument is the same as a Budweiser employee arguing that we should be using the best possible hops. Our customers are getting ripped off! When in fact there are many satisfied Bud drinkers as there are hand cam customers. Yes customers have an inferior product. But then a tandem from 10.5 out of a 182 is more inferior than 15k from a CASA? Are they getting scammed then too?But...182 hand cam tandem masters are making sometimes $2500-$3000 checks so they'll stick around. DZ's are more profitable so there's more $$ for engine and equipment upgrades. While the CASA DZ is hanging on by a thread with overstaff issues and guys making $500 checks. ancient japanes freeflyer say..."skydiver with open mind may end up with empty pocket".
  10. Ive got waycool .25 and it is noticibly wider to a .3 josh
  11. your riggerob glove is capable of some awesome centering as displayed on your profile shot. josh
  12. OK I bought a 340 and would probably not get another. I feel the thing performs not as well as the 370. 1. I am a tandem swooper and the 340 balloons me (like a SET 400) if I plane out too high with an "out of gas"feeling at the end with not alot of lift left. The 370 keeps the dive around the corner and has no balloon effect. Kind of like a crossbraced canopy, staying in the dive but will stab out if need be. 2. I feel the 340 is less stable in the gusts than the 370. If one side closes, the effect is much more dramtic than with a 370. Yes toggle pressure is light and it is fun and fast but the real test is 10 feet off the ground where you sometimes have to be on it. So, its not my favorite canopy and I would probably buy an Icarus 365 if I was to do it again. Why? to date: 8 RWS chops on 370's in 3000 tandems and Zero on the same number of Icarus tandems. Thats one missing canopy and several freebags and PC's to pay for. josh
  13. my concern is the leg strap(s) coming over the knee during exit or opening. ive been having the sinlge amputees wear their prosthesis and haven't had any issues with it coming off. my worst case scenerio was with the double that both prosthesis came off allowing the leg straps to slip over the knee. I am trying to cover all angles obviously following the tandem tradegy of two weeks ago.
  14. Ive been taking quite a few single amputee tandem students lately (Iraq war veterans) and am now being asked by double amputees to jump which I have declined. Any TM's with double amputee at or above the knee student experience?
  15. i had a lay down and it is not bad if you carpel tunnel your hand over and stick it in front of the student. I now have a vert glove.
  16. Tape motor lasts much longer than a camera's. But with a skydiving camera, the motor is the last to go. josh
  17. Im sure you could get away with 5-6 in a day. But with my PC 330 and 8 or more I was very sore through my shoulder and trapezius. I have since bought a PC 1000 With camera flyer necks we are now going to have hand cam shoulder syndrome!
  18. OK...Got my Cookie glove in...not bad. I wish they had better quality neoprene. seems like beer coozie stuff. Way cool had like 6mil thick rubber but the angle was bad. I think the Rob glove will last longer being made of cordura but who wants to wait 4 weeks. Waycool might be angled back now...they just dont answer e-mail. josh
  19. newer cameras have progressive record. best i can do is capture video on this mode and save to disc. 5 x 7's come out ok with a nice camera (PC 350, 330, 1000). I charge $10 more
  20. I just bought a PC 1000, waycool blackeye x, and cookie upright glove. i chose cookie because my friends waycool upright didn't angle back to the student enough and you had to bend your arm to film. the blackeye x on the pc 1000 caused some vignetting on the bottom but it is wide enough where I can get the students toes in the picture. maybe should have gone with a standard blackeye. i agree with skymonkee with the cam i. being also a conventional camera flyer for 14 years, cam eye has not proven to be a reliable solution for me.
  21. at those prices, it sounds like its worth the risk.
