  1. Regardless of morals, values, and those things, i think OP wanted to go to Dubai cuz OP thought it'd be cool and to have the bragging rights. Am i right OP?
  2. Interesting observation and info. I believe the draw to Dubai is that there's a bunch of youtube videos out there featuring people having the time of their lives jumping behind a beautiful backdrop...but what most don't realize is that said people generally have extensive experience in the sport. OP, do you really really want to learn at Dubai? Because it is not outside the realm of possibility. Or do you want to go to Dubai for some other personal agenda (just to get away from home, just to say to your friends that you did your AFF at Dubai for bragging rights, or is it some other personal issue)? Because obviously there are other options for you.
  3. bro, have you considered that skydiving is expensive? You mentioned you're in school but are you lined up for a job after school? or do you intend mom and dad to front the money? just asking cuz if you decide to go full bore with skydiving it will suck away your money
  4. it all really comes down to is "how much money can i dump into wind tunnel training?". the more money you can dump into it, the more time you can get, the more quickly you can develop the skills.
  5. So just to be perfectly clear...$6000 is your budget and you think it's relatively expensive. So you want to travel/live in Dubai so you can skydive. But it seems like the limiting factor is $6000 (if we can consider that your cap). So the first question you should ask yourself is "can I move, live, rent a place, and taking an AFF jump course in Dubai for no more than $6000. A plane ticket from New Zealand to Dubai is approximately $2000 (i rounded down and got a flight from travelocity.com). You can find a room for about $50/night (i used this as reference https://www.airbnb.com/search?location=Dubai&sort_by=4&af=1922719&c=A_TC%3Dh5nhfhz928%26G_MT%3Db%26G_CR%3D19494182416%26G_N%3Dg%26G_K%3Drenting%20rooms%20in%20dubai%26G_P%3D&gclid=CNWay_Wu-rYCFWbhQgodkxEAJw). Now let's assume Dubai's AFF jump course is 5 days and knock off $250 to just rent a place for those 5 days and now you have approximately $3750 left over which you can now consider to use to pay for the jump course. According to http://skydivedubai.ae/school/index.htm, their jump course prices are as follows: 2200 AED or 598.00 US dollars initial deposit 1500 AED or 408.00 US dollars for category A-C 1300 AED or 353.00 US dollars for category D-F Which brings the total to about 2881.00US dollars for the jump course. In your purse you now have about $869.00 of "free money" which you can use for food, beer, and more importantly extra money just in case you need to retake a jump. I did a little budgeting for you in just 10 minutesand gave you some references to look. But before you start asking questions here on the forums most of this stuff can be found by just doing some research on your own. And finally, i don't want to assume, but I am assuming you are a young buck and it sounds like you are doing this on a whim. How do you know you'll like skydiving when you haven't even made a jump? How do you know you'll stay in the sport when most of the drop outs leave before they hit 100 jumps? If money is of concern, did you know skydiving is expensive. I dont' care what anyone says, the initial investment from jump course, to license, to getting your own gear will cost you between $5000 - $15000 (factors include, using wind tunnels time for training, individual coach jumps, used gear, new gear, going to the drop zone, buying beer for everyone at the drop zone, etc) Good luck
  6. Typical freeflyer response...and attitude
  7. Why thank you. As in my previous post about "having a crush on my instructor" I would like to stay incognito with hold any information as to where my home DZ is at. Let's just say, if you were to divide the United States in half on the map, I jump on the left side of that division (including Hawaii and Alaska) But if you become available again please let me know since i would like to go out on a date with you someday. Thanks
  8. Would you date me? I'm mid 30's, have a career (not a job), I still snowboard, i'm a licensed skydiver, i'm a scuba instructor, i'm in great shape, i'm strikingly handsome, and (here's the kicker) I have great endurance and stamina (if you know what i mean)
  9. 33 jumps with a new rig? Looks like someone has too much money on their hands they don't know what to do with it..just saying. have you considered you're WL is close to 1.0? have you considered seeking advise from the instructors at your DZ (whom you recently got lessons from)? have you considered a canopy course?
  10. LOL! I'm with you on that. No offense, but you freeflyers somehow think you're god's gift to skydiving. You generally do not say hi to new flyers, give them dirty looks at the tunnels, pack away from the rest of the crowds, pack where the RW's are packing yet come off as the "bad ass loners" and don't say hi, fuck around on a load because you think you're god's gift to skydiving, track along the jump line (yes i've seen video of a freeflyer tracking along a jump line). Out of all the freeflyers i've seen only 1 came up to me, said hi, sparked up a conversation, and even suggested we jump together knowing full well i'm an RW flyer. Now that's a cool freeflyer unlike most of you.
  11. i think the real question is, did you date or marry her yet?
  12. My inner thighs would tend to disagree. what's wrong with your inner thighs?
  13. Bro, you're going skydiving, not MMA fighting
  14. I'm not going to lie, on hot summer days think of my jumpsuit as a kilt...i'm naked underneath
  15. Will this offer be extended to the other iFly centers?
  16. Chlorine takes that blood right off in a second...which reminds me, i once used chlorine on my bathroom floor right after a....
  17. you do realize this is your first in the sport so you owe a few people some beer (namely your instructors, staff, and those at your DZ,,oh and me).
  18. How do you qualify that statement? Please prove to me that the the Vector is the best. Please prove to me that it's not??? The issues shown in these videos are not limited to Vectors, but I would expect the best container to not be affected by either. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYIUjKGxagI www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5_KLch6ziA&feature=plcp FWIW I always wanted a Micron until I saw these and now my choice of container is dictated by the ability of the reserve to deploy quickly in the worst case scenario, low altitude, low airspeed (AC emergency below 1000ft) Of course you are entitled to your own opinions, even if they are wrong Nice find! ooOOOo..someone just got mooded!
  19. Perhaps if you check on Mirage's site you can take a look at their sizing chart: http://www.miragesys.com/sizing-guide/
  20. Hi! My AFF was a birthday gift at a vigorating age of 36. By the way, might i interest you in perhaps a date?
  21. don't mind the price hike...i have a well paying career, no credit debt, no school debt, a paid off car, no wife, and here's the kicker, no kids
  22. I sent you a PM. But i'll put it out here as well. Thank you and you are THE man! When can i buy you a beer?
