  1. Don't belittle my 2nd favorite pastime
  2. Damn..that sucks.. You now know the required maneuvers for AFF3...have you tried to practicing in the wind tunnel? 5 minutes in the tunnel will help out.
  3. You know, prospects..as in the ladies I call all my potential ladies "prospects"...if ya know what i mean
  4. Are you saying you've hooked up with a few prospects at the DZ in your days of jumping?
  5. Umm...your timeline is a bit off. I started out when 1/2 the canopies on the load were ROUND - neon didn't come out till quite some time later, followed by the creation of the 'SAPS' organization. I may be old...but I'm far from work-force retirement! Back then, being a member of 'POPS' was a considerable statement of status within the sport. It meant for the most part - that skydiver had started jumping in or around the late 50's & had 20 years in the game. You didn't see a whole lotta guys with a POPS patch walking without a limp! You certainly didn't see as many over 40's just starting out as you do now...that says much about both the perception and equipment these daze. I'm a card carrying member of both POPS & SAPS...the first is more of an identifier of age, the second a clue as to 'time in the sport'. Neither holds the 'status' that they once did...and maybe that's a GOOD thing! see airtwardo, that's why i like you!
  6. The majority of skydivers are either: Mid-30's - Late 40's : these are the one's that have a career (not a job) and can afford to skydive without having to sacrifice rent, food, car, school payment, or whatever other life things they need to pay. Retired People : these are the one's that stuck with the sport back when having a neon green and pink main was cool. However, these dinosaurs have a wealth of information and experience and are willing to jump with anyone.
  7. What helped me out is I have a career..not a job. Rule #1 : Skydiving ain't cheap.
  8. Well, no. The PDFT are basically employees of the company, and they hold the health of the company as being important to them (which it is). They're also stand-up guys, which means that they care about the rig. And while a company can probably eat one rig, the profit margin and sales volume on skydiving equipment companies is low enough that it's not like saying Kroger can handle that strawberry you swiped off the produce counter Wendy P. Well then, strictly from a business point of view, the dude/dudette who got their rig stolen should be fired and/or pay for the rig right? Wouldn't it ultimately be their responsibility to take care of the rig; ie not have it stolen? And don't say, "oh, it's not the dude's fault for having it stolen" because at the end of the day, it was issued out to the sponsored person. If a recently graduated student got rental gear stolen the company issuing the gear would IMMEDIATELY charge the student's credit card for the loss. This is no different then. Saying it is no different is now putting sponsored people in a different class above all the rest in terms of "borrowing" gear.
  9. Why is that relevant? Stolen gear is stolen gear. Someone has to pay to replace it..... From the perspective of the person that got his rig stolen, it doesn't matter...considering the dude (or dudette) is sponsored (which is most likely the case) he doesn't care, will get a new free rig to jump, and case closed. From the perspective of the company that lost the rig, then yeah they need to recoup the cost, which is probably just a fraction of what they make in a fiscal year.
  10. I never leave my gear unattended or unlocked at the DZ. Got my bag (just a cool bag to keep all my dive accessories and luckily none of that stuff was in the bag at the time) stolen once...ever since I have one of those micro locks on my zipper and another lock that attaches to my bag and rack. Will it stop someone from taking my bag if they really want it? Nope. But it is a deterrent versus a bag that isn't locked up. Just like anywhere else, there are some shady people (both skydivers and visitors ) at a DZ. To the dude who got his rig stolen, you must be sponsored to be flying that rig right? if so, don't worry, most likely you are sponsored and will have a free rig in the near future.
  11. Damn, that sucks! In good news, there's not alot of dudes that can fly a Peregrene 67. With that, the owner of the rig is probably sponsored and will most likely get another rig to fly.
  12. There is another mistake, you THOUGHT. How do you know she has a little but? And how do you know she doesn't have any class? *confused*
  13. Of course this is a skydiving forums... But i didn't hurt to ask.
  14. Yeah OP. you just got too excited and it bit you big time in the ass. Move on bro.
  15. bro, your wife is taller than you? just putting it out there, but i think that's hot!
  16. bro, in all honesty, in general a seller is not looking out for your best interest. In general, the seller is looking to get rid of gear so they can get money to get new gear. That's the nature of the beast, bro. Go to your local DZ and try to put that rig up for sale.
  17. welcome to the sport! by any chance,,,may i ask you out on a date if you're in the western half of the united states (if you ever come visit)?
  18. Sorry to say bro, but i'm not going to say 100% it is your fault but you made a poor decision on this. And the seller does not have to give you a refund. If you didn't work with an escrow, you should have. If you didn't make an agreement with the seller for a possible refund, you should have. If you didn't make an agreement to try the rig before the purchase, you should have. At this point you have a few options: Sell it back and try to get your money back that way. (provide a picture so i know which rig to avoid purchasing ) File a small claims and bring it to court.
  19. hmmm, it didn't use to..until i started seeing your mom
  20. sucks to be you...but that's the nature of the beast. While the instructor is there to keep you safe as possible and to teach you and to guide you, the tandums are giving priority and the presidential treatment..after all the tandumbs are the ones that keep the DZ open which allow us licensed jumpers to keep jumping.
  21. I'm not throwing it out just to do so, but if they seller won't refund you could file a small claims and take it to court...just saying....it could be an option you should not overlook.
  22. Is it not the seller's right to refuse a return? Aren't you taking a chance purchasing from the classifieds? Try to put it back on the classifieds for the same amount or close to the same amount you purchased it for. Just let me know which one it is so i can avoid it
