  4. Steve, great post and right on the money! You will learn more about competition swooping in your regions 4 or 5 competition CPC events during a season then you will by going to 1 or 2 camps during the swoop season. The progress i saw just in our region and from what i saw at the championships was phenominal, it really was. I know a lot of the guys in the Oregon/Washington region have never had "formal" training by any of the pro's and if they had it was very little, most of it was just feeding off each other during the comps and the video review afterwards. Now don't get me wrong, if there are supposed to be "competition training camps" going on most likely i'll be attending at least 1 or 2, i think it could only help me and my goals. but to be honest, when you're in an actual competition, no matter what sport, you have a completely different mind set then if you are at a training camp or swooping the beer line. but in short, yeah, if there are comp training camps then i'm in just tell me when and where. hopefully there will be one in Oregon/Washington area. 5. i'm just looking at my neptune, maybe that's feet per second? ha, i don't know, but yeah 200mph seems a little high Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  6. ok, i'm a little confused. does 36m/s = out to cypress fire speeds? if so then mine should be firing on a regular basis cause when i'm flying in full flight i'm between 39-42m/s, and when i do my turns i'm regularly hitting 100+m/s. i am starting my turn lower than 800' however so maybe that's just it. but i am genuinely interested in this. 7. you are right, there have been few incidences in the past involving swooping and aad's. but like you said it's not until now, years down the road, when we're starting to do multiple rotations that we're seeing these things. my guess, if nothing changes we will see more of these incidence's in the future because that is where we're heading it appears, bigger rotations and higher speeds. edited to ad: for the colorado cpc championship i took my cypress out. mainly because i didn't want to get it wet, but 2 you never really know what's going to happen. and after seeing the pro's enter the entry gates at 90+mph it was an awakening experience. 8. i remember an article in parachutist where by a jumper took up a cypres and did some tests jumps on it to see if he could get it to fire during canopy flight in a very radical dive like the ones we see while swooping. he was able to get the cypress to fire and concluded that it was possible to have a cypress fire in the critical moments when a canopy pilot is coming into land. now i'm not sure but i think a lot of people read parachutist and probably read that article, but unfortunetly we don't learn until an incident usually occurs, then people start asking "why wasn't anything done or communicated about this possibility?" in the end i believe its up to the individual jumper to make a decision on whether an aad is necessary for him/her and their jumping preference. but what ever they chose it's up to them to be able to deal with the possible consequences. but that's just me thinking out loud again. 10. yeah, there are 2 of us for these 4.5 dealerships. and it's not like i've hired on all these employees my self obviously but as you might guess in the car business the turnover rate is insane. in the month of august i hired on 26 people and they're still short staffed. it blows butthole Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  11. so my 1st annual review is coming up and i want to ask for a raise. currently i'm making about 24k/year which isn't all that great for the amount of work i do. right now i basically recruit and staff for 4 car dealerships that have between 60 and 90 people per dealership, plus staff for a body shop that has about 15 people. along with that though comes all the "baby sitting" and bull shit from these 315 employee's so i've got a lot of shit to do throughout the day. so my question is, how much of a raise should i ask for considering i'm an hourly employee and do my job very well? by the way if anybody is hiring out there i would be willing to leave my current position as long as there is a dz close by to work, and if it has a swoop pond that's even a bigger bonus. 12. about 1650 on a vx 84 loaded at 2.4. it was a waist of money. Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  13. i've done a lot of experienting with all different kinds of turns and body positions and what ever. i don't know what i'm doing in MPH when i come in on a swoop, but up high i have hit 150+ m/s on my neptune which equates out to about 102mph. not really sure if that means anything to anybody but there's my info. 18. For the 1st ever Pro/Am event Ian Drennen and TJ Langren(sp) took 1st. Stuart Schoenfeld and Jay Moledski took 2nd. And i believe Mark Shimmell and John Judy took 3rd. For me personally this event was absolutely amazing and i learned an unbelievable amount from Jay. Thanks again to all competitors, sponsors, and staff that put their heart and soal into this event. I would really like to give thanks to mile-hi skydiving, they are one of the best dz's in the world and will be only getting better. like i said before in another post this will be THE place to swoop in the year(s) to come. so if you've never been there you're missing out! And i would like to give one last thanks to Nick for letting me stay at his place the entire 10 days i was there. enjoy that "rent" i left in your refridgerator for ya and if you're ever in Oregon look me up you can always crash at my place. take it easy bro and keep in touch. 19. thanks guys, and yes, i will be working on my freestyle move called "the t-bag" only the most dedicated will achieve this new move . thanks again guys, everyone i met was really cool and the level of pilots there were amazing to me. great job guys and i'll see ya around...stu Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  20. thanks kimmie, but you never know what's gonna happen. but yes, for the pro/am event i didn't get the luck of drawing Jay, so it should be fun Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
  21. Jay was loaded around 2.4 again. like somone else said he didn't do anything different. the altitude here is absolutely perfect for swooping. my personal best at home in oregon was 370, up here in one of the practice runs i did 480+. people are going huge up here and going really fast. plent of lift. this, in my opinion, will be the mecca for swooping. great facilities, great people, and great swooping weather. i have nothing but good things to say about mile-hi skydiving...Stu Slip Stream Air Sports Do not go softly, do not go quietly, never back down
