I guess a more appropriate question would be, what is the type of port that the shutter release would plug into? Is it a lanc port like on the Sony Camcorders?

I agree with the resolution, but the problem is that I have to put all these stills on a CD and make the video in a matter of 10 minutes and try to sell the still's to them as well. It's hard to sell the pics when I dont even have a preview of them if I am using 35mm. If I decided to use 35mm, I would use my Elan 7. Anyone want an Elan 7 with a 28-210 zoom on it?

So I am going to be shooting Tandems this summer and I am looking for a small, cheap digital still that will allow me to hook up a mouth switch or some other device that will just shoot constantly like the 10D does. Of course, I would like the 10D, but dont have the cash for it, so a cheapie in the meantime would be just fine. I just dont know what to look for when it comes to hooking up shutter devices to them. Thanks. Brad

Again, I gotta ask, A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT? REALLY?
jose replied to quade's topic in The Bonfire
[reply Here in the US, we have a bill of rights that protects the rights of the minority; it even protects the rights of a single person even if everyone else is against him. It's one of the things that makes me proud to live here, that we defend even those we disagree with because we value individual freedom very highly. Holy crap, hold the presses......Bill Von just stated that he was PROUD to live here in the United States of America. Well holy shit..........you might be a human being after all....... -

That has to be one of the most self-serving, pathetic excuses for ones own beliefs that I have ever seen. No matter the topic. I can't even believe that you even support such absolute BULLSHIT. -
Sure, here ya go. This one last Nov. Note the nice snow capped moutains in the background.

Ok, I looked, I swear I did...... Weekend Numbers 2/20 - 2/22

0:5:1 DJ, Damn dude, you only got 3? The weather was much nicer that that a little farther north. The Vancouver BC area had some most stellar weather that felt like spring, except at altitude. I got 5 in on Sat, with the last one being after sunset, nice. First jumps since X-mas boogie in Eloy. 1 case of beer for pounding in on a low turn for the first time, no question who's fault this was. Walked away, easily might not have. Live and learn. Gotta stick to my own damn rules from now on. -
Stop putting your feet in your face.......or you could just throw them away.

I almost didnt make it to the bottom of this thread due to the boredom factor. Thanks for making my perseverance worth it.

*** If you were the first group out, expect to be downwind of the DZ. Additonally, the winds aloft should be available to you at all times. The pilot should know what they are, and should be willing to share that with you. With this in mind, you should be able to check your spot, and adjust your opening altitude. Davelepka, I am hoping to clear something up here about opening alititude. Unless you are the LAST one out, with no other loads in the sky, and you have told the pilot that you plan on dumping high, you should NEVER EVER adjust your opening alitude for a long spot. Albeit, the letting the pilot know is more of a courtesy, but can also have an effect on his approach back to the DZ if hes the kind of guy that likes to stand the plane on its nose to get down. Please, for the love of God, do not EVER dump high just to make it back unless you are the last one out and have given ample seperation between the last group and yourself. This goes for tracking to make it back as well. If you track back with the line of flight, and dump high as well, your just plain going to kill someone someday. I posted this as a clarification only, thanks.

Its good that you looked around you and attempted to determine your possibilities. Your situational awareness is key in determining where you are going to put it down if you have to land out. As soon as you have figured out, or have any questions what-so-ever about "making it back", go for the nearest, largest, clearest, widest, softest landing area that you can find. If this is directly under you and you are unaware of any other options between you and the landing area, TAKE IT! If this is in the opposite direction of the landing area, TAKE IT! Its great to stay with your buddies for convienence sake, but you are responsible for you and you only at this point, right? If they see you going for another spot, they will probably follow you, at least that is what I would do. As Clay has said, make that decision early and at altitude, not a couple hundred feet. Its no big deal to land out, and no one is going to judge you for landing out further than the "other" guys. Besides, sometimes it makes for good stories and some funny looks from the whoffo's that see you come in. Heck, might even be a great way to collect some digits from the local hotties while you wait for your ride.

If I recall correctly, a young man died in NorCal last year at Lodi with a stiletto 190 over him. Apparenly a panic turn. He was a very inexperienced jumper and when he bought the canopy at Lodi and went to jump it at a neighboring DZ, Hollister, he was told that he could not jump it there due to the inexperience he had, not only in the sport, but ellipticals. To make a long story short, he decided that he would jump it anyways, regardless of anyone else's experienced advice. End result? Dude dies under that main shortly thereafter at Lodi. Paul had 30 jumps. I dont think the differnce between 30 and 46 is shit, and I believe that this lesson needs to be enforced. Advice to give to this jumper? If you see him again, give him a copy of the incident, even the posts regarding Paul's incident. If he seems like hes going to blow you off because your approaching him with kindness and a non-confrontational attitude, go to the next level. In the middle of the packing area, when said jumper is there, get everyones attention and ask them if they think a guy jumping a stiletto with 30 jumps is asking for a pine box. The statements of many are more powerful than the statements of one. If he still jumps it, fuck him. Just hope that he doesn't kill anyone else in the process. All of this hopefully not needed if the safety guy does his job.

All kinds of BASE in the Vancouver area. They have lots of bridges and jumpers from the city's building's are somewhat regular. As compared to lets say LA. Need some contacts let me know.

***An Internet "troll" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the Internet. He (and it is usually he) tries to start arguments and upset people. Trolls are utterly impervious to criticism (constructive or otherwise). You cannot negotiate with them; you cannot cause them to feel shame or compassion; you cannot reason with them. They cannot be made to feel remorse. For some reason, trolls do not feel they are bound by the rules of courtesy or social responsibility. Perhaps this sounds inconceivable. You may think, "Surely there is something I can write that will change them." But a true troll can not be changed by mere words. -------------------------------------------- Geeze Bill, I think Luv2Fall looked under BillVon in the dictionary instead of Troll. WAIT.........they are one in the same!!!! Holy Cow! All of a sudden, it makes so much sense.
