  1. Generation Freefly will be releasing a new 0.2 Diamond lens soon that will work will for such a mount. Ask Rob about it...hes flown one....
  2. Yeah, we wouldnt want you to be a "Tragic Hero".......
  3. The diffence between a water impact in lets say a lake or other non moving body of water, and a cliff dive is the amount of air in the water. Ever notice that the cliff divers almost always dive into a cove? Notice how the water is almost white? Its because of the turbulence of air and water from the waves smashing into the cliffs and mixing with air. This makes the mixture compressable and not nearly as hard of an impact as straight water. This is also why they aireiate the water underneath the exit point for olympic high divers, it allows the body to penetrate the water much further allowing it to decelerate for a longer period of time. So, if you are going it, and are over water..........aim for the bubbles.....
  4. Well, I can see that you dont agree with most of the thoughts on the subject here. But, I think you are confusing 2 different thought processes here. I dont believe anyone here, including myself, thinks that someone who contemplates suicide, or is depressed is a fucking idiot. Please dont take my responses as that, as I hope these people recieve the help they need to pull them from the such clutches. What I do NOT condone is suicide as a "solution" as you so put it. It is this kind of thinking that will change most peoples sentiment on the subject. Suicide is never a solution and the fact that some bleeding hearts here have a problem with the majorities thoughts on this guys actions, only reinforces the act for those who are contemplating such. This clown wanted an audience for his act. He wanted it permanently put on film and in the mind of the cameraman or anyone that sees the film. This is what pisses me off so goddamn much. Assholes who want an audience. Being in the fire service I see many suicide attempts that are just people wanting attention. As a matter of fact I just came back from a call 1 hour ago from a moron who took some Decon and whisky. He then called 911 and waited for us to show up. I have no sympathy for most of these people, because they are full of shit, but at least the get help and dont leave thier families with so much grief. Most people that REALLY want to kill themselves do it in private. I have yet to go on a call where someone offs themselves with a shotgun in front of the whole familiy. Alot of them take meds with lots of alcohol at night and no one knows until the next day when they are already dead. Trying not to be callous here, but at least these people had the decency to not leave such a permanent visual imprint on their loved ones minds like this asshole did. Trust me when I say that I know and see on a regular basis the effects of suicide and depression. I see it everyday I am on shift. It sucks in ways that most dont understand, but if we as a society keep up the "no responsibilty for our own actions" way of thinking, assholes like this guy will continue to act on such an unbelievably selfish exit. Or maybe he just watched "Cutaway".
  5. Im with you and Shadowjumper on this one. What a selfish dick. I cant imagine the pain that the cameraman will have now. I wouldn't be surprised if he quit the sport. And what about the kids he left behind? Especially the one that he PURPORSELY TEXT TO!?!?!?!, just before he got on the plane. What a complete asshole for leaving his family with all that pain. I guess we were all supposed to feel sad for the unbelieveable pain that he must have been going thru, but its all but removed when you realize that he was purposely making his own snuff film, and at the horrible expense of the cameraman. The only ones I feel sad for are those that like and loved this guy, and now have to deal with this shit. Im sure alot of them are angry with him for deciding to "deal" with his problems.
  6. I am not an expert at this, but I can tell you that using large parts of your body for movement when your close isnt as good as using your head. I have found that once on level with my partner, if I am relatively close I use my nose to edge in and out. What I mean is keeping my whole body flying the pipe, and if I want to go forward nice and controlled, I stick my nose out. This will wash air off the back of my neck and push me forward very controlled for hand docks and stinging the base and such. The reverse head movement for backing up slightly. The rest of the large driving movements, I really dont think about, my body just goes where I want it to. The only thing that I have been concentrating on lately is controlling my orbit with my hips.
  7. Bump.....comeon guys...I know someone knows the answer to this one!!!!
  8. A couple details on Fibrezone helmets. They use all stainless hardware. The helmet construction is 2 layers of carbon fibre and 1 layer of Kevlar. The harddeck uses a chin-cup ratchet type mechanism with the ratchets on the cup itself and the straps mounted on the helmet. The camera mount is carbon fibre and is mounted using 1 bolt allowing slight piovoting of the camera for HU and HD flying. The camera box allows the usage of the Diamond 0.3 lens from Max's Generation Freefly and both the Red and Blue lenses that are of the same thickness. Allows for 2 dytters. These are quality helmets that are comparable to 2KComposites style, with added construction techniques that one up most others. Email me for any additional info if you would like.
  9. Shitty weather made for interesting hop and pops. Never underestimate the boredness of freefliers and what we can do from 4000'. Hanging from knees off wing and taking right hand grip with guy on the wheel makes for a interesting 2 way. In the end..... 0:2:1 (frist knee hang off Cessna)
  10. Ebay baby here is the item number. Lots of them to sell and it comes with a tripod, for only 50 bucks!!!! Item number 3814427305. I just bought one and its brand new. Cheers!
  11. Sure hope you get that camera, and if you do make sure its not grey market. Dont ever trust a NYC camera store. If its not too late, I would cancel the order before you get screwed.....
  12. Um.. you don't want to do that, you need the stereo one for the 300D. Iwan Ok, my bad. I have a MONO plug now. Is there a way to convert it to stereo? Thanks
  13. What about when you already have a bite switch that is a stereo plug? Can I rewire my current stereo to a mono plug?
  14. Damn you Rob, now the value of my .3 is down on ebay! Yeah, thats a nice lens huh. I'll be gettin one soon myself so I can film your floundering one armed students this summer. Dont worry about what Colin says people, hes totally gay. And he cant fly on his head. But at least he was there on Sunday this year!
  15. Whos that homo with the blue and grey wings rig? That guy couldnt seem to fly his slot worth a shit.
  16. My partner landed in a field on the other side of the road. As far as the spot, out pilot is the plane and DZ owner. He uses a really nice expensive in dash GPS unit, so the spots are usually great. I trust him with the light, but maybe I will be a little more self reliant from now on when im in the back of the load. Doggie biscuits sounds like a great idea. You can gross out the newbies and tandems by eating them on the plane.
  17. So, first jump of the day with a buddie who the last time I jumped with smashed his femur into 7 pieces. 2nd to last out. King Air is at base of clouds at 11.5, cant see ground. Green light is still on, so we go. After an good HD jump with a couple spocks, we turn and burn. Looking down in a track, I think to myself, "Self......this terrain looks unfamiliar....maybe I should take a gander around.....hummmm....I dont see an airport.....this could be a problem" So I dump a bit high, at 3500. Of all the time for my canopy to open nice and slow, it snivels...... Stow slider, loosen chest strap and search for airport. I find it, but there is NO WAY IN HELL, I am going to make it back. Like miles away no way. So all I can see are ditches, wires, asphalt, and fields that are mostly torn up right now with the growing season just starting, ie, big clumps of dirt from plowing.....not a good surface at all. I really really really dont want to land on the street dammit. I finally find a nice big yard at someones house that is perfect for a good landing, and hell, the wind is even going my way. I set up for a nice landing and with a 180 carve I'm just starting to skim turf........then I see him. Dog.....oh no....BIG dog.........PISSED DOG! Hes starts runnin for me and there is no way I can do shit about it now......if he runs in front of me......I'll cream him and myself too. But the funniest thing happened, as he got closer I think that the whole speed and canopy thing scared the SHIT outta him. He turns and runs like HELL outta there with his tail tucked TIGHT! Holy Jesus, I thought I was a chew toy, but ended up scaring the hell outta this dog. So the owners come out and are cool folks, but the dog wouldnt get near me. I tell ya, that was the last thing that was in my mind when I decided to land there. "Am I going to be eaten by a dog if I land here?" I could just see that headline in the incidents forum......"Skydiver gets mauled off the DZ" Good times.....
  18. Too bad I called and the celing was at 2000.... Hhahahahahah.....went to Pitt to jump the King Air. Oh well, the weather WILL come. And all will be well in the world.... or at least in Sno.
  19. Ya know what the coolest fucking feeling in the world is....yeah besides that.... Seeing yourself in someone elses video that you dont even know. NOW THAT IS COOL! I was to the immediate left of Omar in that track jump in Eloy over the X-mas boogie. I'm wearing the yellow helmet with blue and white diamonded FF pants. I was going to take Omar's shoe off, but I made the mistake of telling him about the bet that was on the line. He notioned that I might "accidentally" get kicked.......aaaahhhh...maybe not. But I could have! Thanks dude....whoever you are. You just make my day.
  20. jose

    I'm. In. Love.

What I wouldnt give for this honey. I keep visting her in the local shop, like a dog marking his territory.
  21. So the ringsight I have that came with my new used helmet is the orange plastic one with the dot in the middle. I have seen others out there that seem to be much better, ie newton. My question is, which style works better for all around filming. There is the hyperbole, the concentric and a couple others. Since I havent flow any of these, I dont even know if these styles are necessary. Some fly with a damn dry erase dot on their glasses, so whats the advantage here?
  22. I have jumped there. All I can say is stay away from Steve, Peter, Ryan and John. Those guys are assholes...... And that dick, Jim, if he ever comes back. BELLAS! Edited to add: I almost forgot about Shitbag, if he is still living in his trailer there. If you see any plastic bags on the ground around the dumpster....DONT PICK THEM UP! Skymama......please see the sarcasm here.
  23. Can you feel it? I can, feel the love that is....... Spoken like a true JACKASS friend! p.s. you sound just like my bro....
  24. Ya know, looking back at your post, I realized that I have to object quite strongly. First of all, how can you even have a grasp at the many different operations of DZ's out there? At your jump numbers how can you have a "D" license pending? No offense, but at 150 jumps, you don't know shit, just as I didn't at 150 jumps. I still dont know as much as ALOT of flyers out there, but you sure as fuck dont know anything about my flying skills and under what capacity my DZ works. Hey, if your DZ wants to require all camera flyers and TI's have 1000 jumps, thats fine with me. BUT, in no way does your DZ set the standard for camera flying, the SIM's do for USPA flyers. Which is what I belong to, and am a "D" licensed flyer. And no, unlike yours, its not pending. Speaking of the SIMS, Section 6-8, no where does it say that I should have 1000 jumps to fly camera, only 50 recent jumps with same equipment. Well, how does near 200 jumps suffice? Still not a shitload of jumps, but meets and exceeds the requirements by a longshot. The SIMS also speaks of knowledge of the both the camera flyer and instuctors abilities and communication. Since I only fly tandem camera at my own DZ, I can safely say that this isn't a problem. Hell, these same tandem masters were my PFF instuctors when I was a CSPA student. So before you go and spout off with your limited experience, you might want to check others memberships affiliations and rules governing such. That could help you create your posts more educationally, and prevent that embarrassing hole under your nose from making such a stench.
  25. Rawa has quite a following as most designs do, but if you were to pick between the Rawa and the FF2, I would definetly pick the FF2. The quality of craftsmanship is hands down better than the Rawa. For example, the Rawa uses cheap aluminum rivets to hinge the d-box and the hindge is kinda cheap. The FF2 has much better hardware, and the helmet shell is thicker. The Rawa seems to be too flexible. Just my 2 cents.
