Nice ride! Congratulations, enjoy, and safe riding. My take on men, boys and price of toys goes like this: "The only difference between the man and the boy is the price of the toy...and the shape of the playmate!

Fairfax County plays the "crazy aunt" down in the basement to the rest of Virginia. -
Once again kallend, I can always count on you for comic relief.

PA court rules cops no longer need warrant to search cars
Boomerdog replied to tonyhays's topic in Speakers Corner
This one is headed to the "Supremes." -
As a form of music, Rap is not a preference but I don't dislike it either. WHAT is do dslike is a car at the intersection or coming down the street in my 'hood with windows down blaring that stuff. It is at that point I begin harboring wild fantasies of putting a bazooka round into said offender's gas tank.

The news report says the suspect engaged with a large pair of scissors. Sooo...the suspect was armed with weapon and a weapon I might add that can kill. Stun gun had no effect? Suspect on drugs or maybe having a mental health crisis that amped him up? When the suspect was shot, was the shooting the result of the suspect re-engaged the cops with a weapon and threatened their life? If so, shooting may be justified. If not, it's a problem. -

Take a bow! You've implicitly validated two principles: 1) Paper bags do work. 2) No one's ugly after 2 A.M. -

Uh...no. The issue has been raised but few if any are listening and the overriding issue has been determined by the press, political movers and shakers and the rest of the usual suspects are his bigoted remarks and for that Sterling is shall we say, "being forced of his own island." Professional sports here in the States have taken on a civic sense of responsibility by endorsing trendy issues determined to be for the common good. Some causes are good etc etc. Additionally, the NBA like the other major sports here do have By-Laws and conditions of ownership which do include public responsibility, keeping up an image etc etc; all to protect the brand. Owners are bound by legal contract to comply. His comments aside, Sterling does not have a history of trying to make his team a winner. He's traded marquee players who could get him a Championship because he didn't want to pay a higher salary. If ya don't have a desire to win, whaadya doin there in the first place? With his comments, he's hosed himself and is a self branded bigot by his own devices. I'm still wondering why with 100 hours of taped conversation without him knowing it, his girlfriend has not been charged with a felony under California law which requires a two party consent. Personal opinion...this is the opening act and far from over. -

billvon...great to gear from ya again! Bless your pea pickin' heart (with apologies to Tennessee Ernie Ford). I'm trying to track with your comments and have to admit some difficulty here (one brain cell thing along with being a neanderthal knuckle draggin' Conservative ya know). I don't think I called Sterling a Democrat or a Republican. So far so good? And I admit to being a bit snarky about my last post about an Illinois legislator (a Democrat) arrested for kiddie porn discovered on his personal and state provided computers. Imagine that! But you answered my implied plea about labeling a whole group of people for the actions of a few. Yea, it's a baaad idea. But I'm kinda wondering what Sterling might do in light of California wiretap laws where it's a two party consent state (I know as I lived there for 38 years). Girlfriend has 100 hours of recorded conversation and Sugar Daddy Sterling probably did not give his consent to record. Personnaly, I think this is just the first round of some real down home nastiness that could end up with a felony wiretap indictment. You know what they say, "Paybacks are a ......, well they just are. You're not confusing me with someone else are you?!?!?! All the same... Nice to hear from ya again! -

+1 OK, no harm no foul. But you and I have one huge disagreement on the death penalty. -
You're welcome to your opinion. Now here's mine. All too often we fail to make the distinction between forgiveness and justice. The two are clearly different. In breaking the law, some criminals legitimatley seek forgiveness but that does NOT mean justice will not be applied. No one can say they are accountable under the unspoken hope and veil that admitting their accountability will not exact some sanction. Not all homicides are equal. Homicide in war in accordance with the Geneva Convention is legal. Accidental homicides occur. The lone focus of my argument is MURDER; homicide WITH malice of forethought and it IS the ulitmate hate crime without explicitly stating the element of hate in the action. Many, including myself can wholeheatedly accept re-admittance to society for criminals who commit other crimes...even second degree murder. But in capital murder we are saying that the nature plus the elements involved in the crime are so evil, so heinous, the offender has gone over a line of which there is no return and to guarantee both a "no return" and recedivism they forfeit their life. Maybe too "unsophisticated" to your Ivory Towers thinking my friend but the fact is this; no executed murdrer has ever committed another murder. THAT's a 100% success rate!
-
ROFLMAO! Is THAT all you got?
-
The it is obvious you make NO distinction between crime and justice.

+1 Kinda goes along the line of one of Murphy's Laws of Combat: "Professional soldiers are predictable but the world is full of amateurs."

You're probably right about that one. In the meantime... Former Illinois state legislator, Keith Franham, a Democrat resigned office in March citing "health reasons." He has subsequently been arrested on child pornography charges. Evidence so far gathered shows he was collecting child porn on his personal and state provided computer. So the Republicans are racists and the Democrats are pedophiles? Hardly. We got two INDVIDUAL dirtbags here and they come in all shapes, sizes etc. AND political parties (R or D). -
When I hear more about dirtbags botching a murder by either getting caught or being shot full of holes by their intended victims until they are a dead swiss cheese on slab in the morgue, I'll give your indigation a little (just a little) bit of credence. Until such time...

lifetime flyer, long skydiving careers
Boomerdog replied to dzswoop717's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At 103 jumps logged and 58 years old, I came late to the sport. I'm in my second year of skydiving and it'll take a lot to keep me away from the DZ. Skydiving exerts a profound and strong pull and I'm no exception. For many years I thought about skydiving and the thought would leave as quickly as it entered my mind. That changed Christmas 2011, when my wife gave me an introductory AFF certificate. This was a gift completely unexpected and off the page. In point of fact, it wasn't even in the book or so I thought. Part of the reason for the gift was to get my mind off the beat down I took in battling prostate cancer. So far I'm winning the battle. But the memories of spending substantial time in a Radiation/Oncology clinic remain and made me realize I hit rock bottom. I count my blessings every day that I was one of the lucky ones. It tears you to pieces to see other patients of all ages particularly the children and you get the instinctive foreboding by looking at them that they don't have too many cards left to play. Ultimately, all of us come to peace with the fact that something is eventually going to take us from this Earth. My wife had it on her agenda to learn to jump as well. So a couple of fifty somethings started in August 2012 and were finally awarded their A-licenses in January 2013. I just had my first reserve ride a little over a week ago. I don't take pride in saying it but I only say it to convey that the mal has not deterred me. It's a great community and my friends at the DZ are more than friends, they are my extended family. And all the other DZ's I go to, I'm immediately made to feel welcome. The second home IS the DZ. I thought about it for many years so why now? what was really going on? I reconciled that answer about 9 months ago when I had to confront the realization that skydiving was a dream that would not go away. We spend our lives chasing our dreams then one day the tables turn and our dreams come looking to chase after us. What do you do then? It's been a great two years and every day at the DZ is a +. From time to time the weather skunks us but I'm still there with my friends and the beer is always cold. Jump when you can dz but may I humbly encourage you to keep jumping! Even us older "noobs" need someone to look up to! -

+1 What I'm hearing (yet to be verified) through the transom is that this gal has about 100 hours of recorded conversation with him. HMMMMMM.... Yes, he has a long history of paying his players as little as possible so he's probably got the terms tightwad and cheap, stinking all over him. So if the 100 hours of recording is true, this could very well be a set up and Sterling just got hung out to dry.
