  1. Well...I did and OH what a mistake I made. I write this as I wipe egg off my face. I did NOT read properly. Then I noted my error in the OOOPS entry! Do ya'll see that one? Maybe I'm not the only one around here with an occassional reading problem.
  2. I've got about 20 jumps on a 206. A turbo is great, a turbine much better and a regular piston is not bad. The issue from my jumps is the abitlity to exit. The door has to be easy to open, and you need a step right below the door and a hand rail on top would be a great additive. The gear step is reachable for a float postion but can prove difficult if not intimidating to Noobs. I think it can be a great jump aricraft if configured right.
  3. OBTW...that group of kids walking up your driveway are from Honduras, they want to stay at your place. Gonna put em' up? Gonna walk the talk?
  4. The memorial is both poor judgment and poor taste. But the First Amendment has no remedies for those who object to the memorial. Let it stay up and balance that hideous memorial to the real story of a violent man, now dead, who wished to pick a fight. Ultimately, the builders of that memorial will be exposed by their own words and actions as reprobates.
  5. Yup...those are Eisenhower's quotes verbatim. Now what do you take from all of that? I'd be truly interested and that's far from a sarcastic statement.
  6. Living about six miles from Manassas (sight of the first major battle in Mr. Lincoln's War of Northern Agression AKA the Civil War); the cops can be a bit thick headed to say the least. The prosecuting strategy is a bit over the top.
  7. In 1793, the United States was a long way from being a superpower. In spite of their defeat on this soil, Britain was still a very credible superpower. Then again, the strength of the US military in 1793 was a bit more than an average Boy Scout troop. And of course the Boy Scouts did not exist in 1793. So the analogy of one existent group in 1793 to a another group that did not exist in 1793...well, maybe that's not a good analogy.
  8. In keeping with the spirit and context of the subject matter. Anatomical appendage notwithstanding. Who is a dick? Do we need a survey questionaire or "you know you're a dick if..." Just wonderin'
  9. So...is your hypothesis based upon social media having a primary (if not the total definitive) influence in the decision loop of an individual engaging in extreme sports? Here's a data point to consider...getting out of bed in the morning is a risk in and of itself. To validate that point, a cousin of mine died in bed...alone. And I'm sure you can tell us with absolute certainty that you or any of us in this forum will be alive in the next 10 minutes? For the record, social media had nothing to do with me taking up and enjoying skydiving. So may I volunteer myself as being your first statistical outlier. Skydiving risky? I'll go you one better...it's potentially deadly. The fact is this, everytime I leave the airplane to begin free fall, I'm a dead man unless I pitch the pilot and the canopy deploys properly to square, stable stearable etc. If not, then I better be thinking (very fast mind you) about a cutaway in which case I'm left with one last card to play...my reserve. Freefall is not fatal...landing can be. I can't give you a valid reason why I skydive. I just know that after my first AFF jump, I was as they say, hooked. Yes it may kill me, then again, I'm a cancer survivor and accepted the fact a few years ago that ultimately, something is going to kill me. So if I die in my rocking chair, I hope that it is in the evening after I've returned from the DZ after a great day of skydiving.
  10. Well stated! Outstanding responses! +10
  11. Well...there is at least one more voice out there crying in the wilderness who gets it. It's reason to pause to count my blessings and say thank you!
  12. Then is it possible you believe in the soft bigotry of low expecations or just because it's contained in two communities it's OK? It's NOT OK if you live there. Quite frankly I don't give a rat's rear end if the gangbangers want to kill each other. The problem is innocent people are being caught up, shot and killed in this free fire zone these scumbags claim as "turf" and I'll bet a Grant that "Chicago's Finest" are scared down to their ankles to go in there and clean the place out.
  13. ...and I'm glad I don't live in Chicago and I hope I never do live in Chicago. What I "buy" is not a matter of relevance...just don't be bitching and moaning when the bullets break containment and start flying your way...which I truly hope they don't.
  14. Don't tell that to Al Czervik! P.S. Judge Smales is over on the next tee!
  15. Soo...might you be implying that since the violence is confined to 2 small neighborhoods that are run by the street gangs, it's palatable to understand the violence or maybe accept it? That is sheer equivocation. Sorry, not buying your argument.
  16. Who taught me directions? Not to worry, I may be confused but never lost...besides you drive on the wrong side of the road anyway!
  17. Yes, my dear departed saintly mother told me just that!!!!!! But there's also someone else on this forum who aptly notes that "Two wrongs don't make a right but a left will." Or words to that effect. All kidding aside, trucks spewing the "coal" are bait over the top but I enjoy the irony of it. But I'm still laughing my ass off every time I see a mini-Van or an SUV (particularly with Maryland plates) get pulled over by the VA State Police...and it happens every day
  18. Ever see the mini-Van and SUV Drivers particualrly during morning and afternoon commute in Northern VA? They act like they own the road, drive like no one but them is on it, make up for most of the accidents during these rush hour times and everytime I see them getting pulled over and ticketed, I laugh my @$$ off. We got some raving rectum Prius drivers as well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  19. Ya just answered your own question amigo! The Republicans, chiefly under the influence of the US Chamber of Commerce and other industrial lobbying interests LUUUUVVVV the cheap labor. There's your first 50%. The Democrats, the "do gooding crusaders" for the downtrodden using other people's money, see the votes. Thats's the other 50%. Since there are very few independents in Congress, then the R's and D's have the overwhelming majority. I think given the numbers, the arithmetic is right. A pox be on both R's and D's.
  20. Well, did graduate work and degree in chemistry, I don't need guns.
  21. 50% correct...so let me fix the rest of it. The other 50% is that the Democratic Party wants the votes.
  22. If Britain had won... We'd be drinking warm beer! YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
