What Kevin said.

They're generally legal, but you had better be right about the crime that's been committed. The police have immunity if they have probable cause to believe a crime was committed and the arrestee committed it. If it turns out they arrested the wrong guy, too bad for him. Private citizens, on the other hand, don't have immunity if they arrest the wrong guy. If you perform a citizen's arrest on somebody who didn't commit a crime you're looking a false imprisonment complaint, even if you had a good faith belief that the arrestee committed the crime.

Hey Frank, I'll be in Atlanta that weekend, but if you need help I could probably do a road trip and do a few jumps on Saturday. Chuck

All of the listed CRW instructors are extremely experienced and won't put you under a canopy that you're not comfortable with. The ideal wingloading is 1.3, but nobody wants anybody to get hurt. So, if you don't have experience with a WL of 1.3, just say so & they'll find a canopy that's appropriate for you. If you have any interest in CRW, I highly recommend a beginners camp. You won't regret it.

Looks like this will be competing with the Puerto Rico Freefall Fesitval.

Absitively. Now, personality is the deal breaker.

Three cheers for this young pup! Somebody needs to finish the job, though.

Damn! Didn't think I should've run a search. Where's Ivan?

Reminds me of a story here where a cop pinned a robbery suspect against a wall with his police cruiser. The robber sued the city. And won.

Pretty f***ing pathetic. My understanding was that the Russians were trying to recover the bodies of those killed on the first day when they got into a firefight with the insurgents. The insurgents then detonated the explosives in the gymnasium where the children were held. The explosions blew the roof in killing most of the children. The Russians are still fighting some of the insurgents in surrounding buildings. Sad story.

Anybody can get a floor pass if they have a political connection. Nobody except the Secret Service or law enforcement is getting a weapon into MSG.The concept that the floor demonstrators were a security concern is pretty lame. Embarrassing? Yes. A safety risk? I don't think so.

I just went to Kerry's website and he's posted PDF copies of his citations. He doesn't claim to have the SS w/V, but instead claims to have the BS w/ V.
-
Something's weird here. The Newsmax article is premised on no Combat V being issued in connection with a Silver Star, which I believe is correct. But, I don't think Kerry ever claimed to have a Silver Star with Combat V. He claimed to have a Bronze Star with Combat V. Big difference. I'm pretty sure the Navy handed out those. Kerry & his campaign staff are idiots. He's getting creamed on this. The guy gets shot at in Vietnam while Bush was chasing p**** at home and he's on the defensive for his military service. As much as I dislike Kerry and think he would be a lousy President, he did serve in combat. Voluntarily.

Veterans Group Sends Challenge to Kerry
chuckbrown replied to bodypilot90's topic in Speakers Corner
This is a battle that's constantly being fought with Bill. I had the same back and forth several months ago on this issue. -
How about this guy? Corrupt prosecutors and law enforcement officials are not a product of the war on terror. They're only getting new victims.

Good point. When paying cash, it's the penny. If I use a credit card, I put a BIG O in the tip section of the bill.

Good job. I had a cutaway on my 18th jump. And my 19th. I went home for the day after that one. It's amazing how calm you can be when your life depends on it.

If I get shitty service, I leave NO tip and make sure they know it. I'm about the easiest customer to please. Smile, be nice, do the best you can & I leave a generous tip. Even if my food shows up late & cold, if the waiter/waitress is trying, they get a good tip. On the other hand, cop an attitude ...

Well said. Bravo.

Should students be allowed to use audibles?
chuckbrown replied to lewmonst's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
FWIW, I said "Yes" because an extra device to help a student may keep them alive when they're overamped and about to die. We have AADs to keep students alive if they completely lose it and we have RSL's to minimize the effort to get out a reserve. Why object to something that can only help a student? Device dependency? Rethink what an AAD does. -
Not to be a smart ass or anything, but I really have to laugh at the irony of your comment. And who you're making it to.

why aren't we participating in olympics yet?
chuckbrown replied to yurbai's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh I agree, I doubt skydiving will make it into the Olympics, nor am I fussed about it. My point was that of any sport's viewers, the overwhelming majority view sports through an electronic medium (TV) and not in person, so the fact that you can't view skydiving in a stadium is not critical. How many people watch sailing in person? On the interest of whuffos in the sport, I'd bet that their interest in skydiving's many disciplines would be elevated beyond their interest in sychronized swimming, curling, and many other Olympic "sports." But hey, I recognize I'm biased.
