  4. This might as well be in the international forum. Its all Greek to me. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  5. It is only a legal requirement if its stated in the certificate of authorization. Don't get me wrong its prudent to do and almost everybody does it out of common sense even if there is no requirement, but it is not a requirement to make a jump per the regulations. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  6. According to USPA maybe but not according to the feds. That for sure was not an open air assembly of people. Over a congested area maybe but since there is no definition of a congested area in the regulations its a roll of the dice. Feds don't care unless something happens. I know that at the dropzones I jump at I would consider them located in conjested areas. CrossKeys, Keystone skydiving... So a Demo jump into an airshow would be considered a demo jump by USPA and the feds would call it a jump over an open air assembly of people (105.21)requiring a FAA form 7711-2 Certificate of Waiver or Authorization. The feds then go to AC 105-2c and list requirements in an opspec format authorizing the jump. So while you might consider it a demo and USPA might consider it a demo to the FAA its just a jump. 7. "USPA certifies that existing drop zones meet some minimum requirements in conjunction with the FAA. Anyplace other than those have to get waivers from both the FAA and USPA." That is what you said. USPA does not certify dropzones. You send them $200 and you become a group member. You promise to follow their BSRs. FAA has nothing to do with it unless there are airspace issues. Nobody certifies anything. Due to the fact that we live in America you can pretty much jump anywhere you want as long as you comply with part 105 of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations. No drop zone required. No wavier or certificate of authorization needed. No notam necessary. No USPA membership or BSRs. As long as you comply with the requirements and restrictions in part 105. I will give you credit for knowing the pilot needs a license and that USPA list requirements for demo jumps. 15. co2 emissions from turbine aircraft is already on the list for alternate fuels for aviation. Problem is there is no safe alternative for lead currently available. Most piston powered jump planes can run on car gas, if they didn't put the alcohol in it. Its really only the high compression engines that "need" the lead. The general aviation fuel industry/ system is so small compared to everything else it can't justify more than one type of fuel these days. Plus there isn't any data showing a problem, its mostly speculation. You would think fuel handlers, pilots and airport employees would exhibit some ill effects if it was a serious immediate problem. This isn't a California issue, its global and its going to take some time to resolve. Don't sell your gear. 16. Local airport had that about six months age. Played along with them even to the point where they overnighted them the "Check". Took it to the bank and FBI. At least the scammers had to pay for the overnight. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.

  18. You know if there was an easy way to look at a PDC and tell when it was exipred I would agree with you. Its an antiquated system, left over from the military that based things on the Julian calendar. Everything else in aviation expires at the end of the month from the date it was done.Get your annual signed off on July 1st and you get an annual thats due July 31st the next year. If I pulled my data packing card out I couldn't tell you within 6 days of when it pumpkined out without finding a calendar or looking on the internet. Hell I've been told that the wiz wheel that they give out at boogies isn't accurate. So as long as somebody uses the right color pen to add a 1 or a 2 for 10 or 20 days who cares Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  19. WTF isn't the expiration date of the pack job put on the pdc along with the date it was packed? Might eliminate the need for a pencil a lot of times. Replying to: Re: Stall On Jump Run Emergency Procedure? by billvon If the plane is unrecoverable then exiting is a very very good idea.
  20. Depends on what you want to do at the boogie and what you mean by bang for the buck. If your interested in low pressure fairly sucessful organized belly jumps at a slower pace, the first half is for you.The second half is more of the traditional partying, trips to the fire tower etc. Its all good though. 22. Doesn't happen every time but every now and again .... Humidity is a factor in packing. When the humidity is high canopys pack smaller then when the air is dry. Have someone with more experience check the lenght of your closing loop.
