  1. I'm confused now. If you run the school, and from your reply i think the tandem opperation. If I am correct in this. Then who exactly accepts skyrides vouchers? Or maybe I am missing something "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  2. There is very rarely a rigger on the dropzone where I jump. My reserve needed to be packed Two weeks ago. This involved getting my rig over five hours drive away. I dont have my own transport at the moment so It had to be sent via a network of friends to the rigger and collected the same way. It was packed last week and I will get it back sometime around the middle of next week. I hope "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  3. I just recieved my travel insurance policy On paper it looks good covers Skydiving and medical emergency and repatriation up to 7.5 million euro. also it has public liability up to 3 million It cost 13 euros for 11 days. I got it from http://www.etravelinsure.com Just wondered did anyone make a claim from them and what your experience was like "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  4. QuotePull altitude is the altitude you pull at. Deployment altitude is the altitude your parachute is deployed at*** I think that some of the confusion is caused by the meaning of the word DEPLOY some people seem to think deploy means "activate or use" as opposed to "spread out" "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  5. I' Agree with deployment altitude is when you throw the PC When I had about 20 jumps I made my first trip to Empuria as I was still on progression from static line I hadnt jumped with anyone else yet. But away from home the rules got relaxed. I went for a 3 way with the plan to deploy at 2500 ft our usual deployment altitude at home. When we landed my two friends asked me if I had an AAD. I said no."just as well " they said because if you had it would have fired. I was in the habit of ,lookat alti , 2500 ft, lookaround for other jumpers, wave off, pull. since then I start all this well above my planed deployment altitude "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  6. The big problem is if jump run is directly reverse of the rotation of the earth You will be falling with a slightly slower rotation than the earth for a while "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  7. Have a look here http://web.ask.com/web?q=blame&o=8001 this is one extract People have a tendency to find someone to blame when bad things happen. This behavior is certainly very prevalent and easy to observe in children. The burgeoning personal liability business in our country attests to the pervasiveness of this tendency among adults as well. Psychological theory and research examining this observed human behavior is quite complicated and incomplete. There is some empirical data emerging to explain why people blame others but for the most part much of our understanding is based on theory and speculation. The authors cited below have developed a theory of blame prediction based on several situational and personal characteristics. There are four situational factors that affect the likelihood that other-blame will occur. The presence of another at the time of the event increases the probability of that person being blamed. This is why surgeons and obstetricians seem to be blamed much more frequently than general practitioners. The former are more likely to be there when a bad event occurs while the latter deal with insidious or chronic problems that have no discrete starting point. In education, it is more likely, for example, that a teacher who retains a student will be blamed for the student's academic difficulties even ten years later despite the fact that the problems were there long before the event and continued afterwards. Another factor is the perceived knowledge or authority of the other person. Individuals who are knowledgeable are expected to anticipate negative outcomes and avoid them. A third factor is how well known the other person is to the victim. If the victim knows the other person well, blame is less likely to result. An example of this is the greater likelihood of one driver suing another for an accident. They are usually strangers. It is much less common for an injured passenger to sue the driver of the car he or she was I since they are more likely to know each other. Finally, the more severe the outcome of the event, the more likely someone will be blamed. When two students argue in class, teachers are not usually concerned with who is to blame. In contrast, when two students fight on the playground and one is injured, it is more likely that some effort will be expended to determine who was to blame. There are also two personal factors that are related to the likelihood that other-blame will occur. One is the person's ability to find the good or benefit in a bad situation. This ability is characterized by statements such as "Maybe it is for the better," and "Some good may come out of this." Similarly, people who tend to make downward comparisons (e.g., "I am fortunate for what I have. Others have lost so much more.") are less likely to blame others. The other factor is the person's attributional style. Some people tend to find fault with others in many situations regardless of the circumstances. Every teacher has run across at least one such parent. No matter how illogical the rationale, some people cling to the need to blame others for everything bad that happens. In contrast, other people have an attributional style which leads to a tendency to blame themselves no matter how obviously blameworthy someone else is. In any given situation, an analysis of the interplay of these factors can lead to a better understanding of when and why other-blame takes place. 8. I was hopeing for something more subtle like a Fall of skydivers but maybe a slight modification to a Fuckedload would do the trick "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  9. No voteing as its my thread I get to pick "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  10. Came across this page http://www.vigay.com/nouns/inanim.html#people and just wondered was there an acceped collective term for skydivers? Or if not what would you thnk should be used? "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  11. Apart from distracting you under canopy the oly use I can see is if you land miles off and dont know what direction the dropzone is in "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  12. On my pd I find the landings very nice i have stood up about 90%. When I flare i dont "just punch it" I just keep applying more pressure to the toggles as I near the ground and try to keep a few inches from touchdown as long as I can. I would imagine just punching down the toggles would need to be timed perfectly a little too high and you stall and drop, a little too low and you hit with too much speed. If you gradualy apply brakes you can adjust the speed of you flare to suit your decent rate. just my thinking maybe someone with more experience can correct me if im wrong. As for hard openings all mine have been very nice maybe you bigger slider will help yours "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  13. Just wondering. When lines are longer than they should be must it be relined. Can you not just cut off the extra lenght? "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  14. I havent jumped a lot of zp canopies, because I like my f111 , but I have found a huge difference in them against the wind. The other thing I find is if I jump in winds over 20mph I land going backwards so now I ground myself in anything over 18mph "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  15. I just looked at your profile and see you jump a pd 190 lightly loaded. Well so do I, and if I open downwind of the target in any thing over 10 mph I am landing off. I find I have hardly any drive into the wind no matter what I do, If I have enough altitude front risers will get me some forward speed but at the cost of height and can mean one long final from opening to landing. I usually land off in this situation if I see a big safe area "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  16. This seems very high to me. I would like to see the exact question they were asked. sometimes reporters can put their own spin on things or take them completly out of context "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  17. Viperpilot just replying to your post as it was lhe last one This is one of the most entertaining threads I have read BTW to whoever said it, you could come over here and have whatever you want on a t-shirt and no one would care, Just dont insult the real god Guinness also dont expect to skydive we have been weathered out for the last 6 weekends "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  18. yea its a blast they have a great manifest you get a card and justput that on a board for the lift you want to be on "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  19. Yea I have been there the last three years, and am going again on August 19th. All the planes are jumpable and are jumped most days if people are interested freeflyers to relative is about 60 to 40 but this can cange with different groups coming and going Verry friendly and helpfull staff Oh yea there is also a delfin L29 jet that you can get a joyride in for about 350 euro "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  20. Slovakia is a great place to do AFF the cost is 1210 euro . Jumps after that are realy cheap too and they have a lovely selection of planes from a turbolett to a glider. food accommodation etc are almost free compared to here Beer is only 40 cents a pint http://www.skydive.sk/engl/fcenyev.html "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  21. Check this with your instructors. I have no problem starting a flare, say going to a quarter brakes and holding at that if I feel I am a bit too high and just apply more pressure to the toggles as I near the ground. As far as I know the problem is, If you start to flare and then let the toggles up, This will cause the canopy to surge forward in a dive. Keep at it and once you nail the timeing, flaring will just come naturaly as part of the canopy flight "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  22. What I found a great help to me in my flare was to think of it more like, "I am not flaring to land but to stop me from landing." I want to fly straight as close to the ground for as long as I can without touching it. If I feel I am dropping that last few inches I try to add more lift until I have no more forward speed left ,or no more toggel travel, in that case it sometimes needs a few quick steps. Works for me but what do I know? "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  23. I was just wondering, why not use airships as jump "planes" it appears that you could gain altitude without the cost of fuel I know you need a ground crew. What am I missing? "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  24. I jump a teardrop classic with a pd 190 main and a swift plus reserve. I don't do a lot of jumping so wont be getting a new rig for quiet a time. I would like to get a skyhook system, but Is it only available on new rigs? is there, or will there be a kit to retrofit other rigs available? "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
  25. 206 best exit is climb over the top and jump from the poilets side "be honest with yourself. Why do I want to go smaller? It is not going to make my penis longer." ~Brian Germain, on downsizing
