  1. Its not just the US in fact compared to outher countrys and the size of them it doesn't take that many. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  2. I find it interesting that American Muslims seem to be alot better integrated than their European counterparts. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  3. How will you account for your lawlessness. Anyone guilty of breaking God's moral law will not have eternal life and will be judged and sent to hell. You say that Islam is the religion of justice. How "just" would God be to not punish your transgression of the law? What can Islam do for you in this regard? Do you know with 100% certainty that you will go to heaven when you die? If so, is that reasonable? 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,"[a] and he was called God's friend. 24You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. 4. Take your pick... 1. Always keep God 1st in your life. 2. Don't create an idol of worship. 3. Don't take God's name in vain. 4. Keep the Sabbath holy. 5. Honor your Mother & Father. 6. Don't murder. 7. Don't commit adultery. 8. Don't steal. 9. Don't lie. 10. Don't covet. How do you know that Darius has broken those laws? 7. I wonder what God was thinking when he, in his omnipotent loving way, arranged the Christmas tsunami a couple of years ago. People die, its a certainty, its just a matter of when. If you don't belive in an afterlife then that changes things dramaticly. However if you belive in an after life of eternity then our time here on the earth (or above it) is but a blink in time. For you maybe it seems that if God exists he must be a harsh and heartless being, to me those people died and suffered for a very brief time but God has an eternity to make it up to them. For all the bad that happend alot of good also came out of the Tsunami and when we can't see the big picture its hard to see why things might happen. (Obviously this is from the viewpoint of someone who belives in God) When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 9. But the fact is that there re some items that if you are carring in certain places by that very act you'd be breaking the law. If you've got good reason to be carrying them though you don't have to worry. As I said before There is no problem with sane adults with no criminal history or anti social tendency to having swords, but by that exception it seems that you don't think that it would be a good idea for criminals, the anti social or people with mental health issues to have swords. So where are the controls to ensure that those people do not obtain swords? Thats the issue. There is nothing stopping sane law abiding socially respectful people who want to own swords from obtaining them. This is aimed at stopping Neds hacking each other and the rest of society into tikka. 10. Maybe because loving God isn't a religion to Windcatcher but a way of life, maybe because she is so happy she wanted to share it with us and maybe because she knew people would start picking on her for her love of God but decided that she would share just the same. Personally I'm glad she did. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  11. I don't think the US could do it, just on numbers alone. Without a draft could the US strech to this kind of commitment as well as cover all the other commitments its millitary has? I couldn't imagine the draft even being a possibility in the current political environment. 12. Then you have no problem. if a man has a hammer and is walking down the road stopped by the Police who find out hes a builder on his way to a job no porblem. If the police stop a football hooligan carrying a hammer on his way to a football match most likely he'd be arrested. I've been stopped by the police who found a large survival knife in the boot of my car along with some webbing and a Bergan, clearly its a tool and they didn't have a problem. If I'd had it there along with a balaclava and some duct tape it most likely would have been a different outcome. Laws are like weapons they're tools to be used wisely. 16. The world doesn't care if Catholics get offended dude....haven't you heard. Unless you're Muslim, Jewish, or a Scientologist, the world won't demand apologies for relgious insensitivies. Maybe the Church of Rome should go back to burning people at the stake for heresy then. 17. Hey Cocheese, Whether or not religion offends you to no end, how about having some respect for your fellow dz.commers. There are quite a few posters here who hold the Virgin Mary in very high regard. I've never had a problem with you or Walt and I hope I still don't. Just understand that this thread is highly offensive to me and others. Thanks for your understanding, Chris Yea, I mean its not like they're Muslims or something! 19. My comment applies more generally than to the US or UK and swords. Why should a sane adult with no record of criminal or anti-social behaviour have to have government approval to own any item at all? IMO the govt. (any govt) should keep its nose out of people's activities to the greatest extent possible. There is no problem with sane adults with no criminal history or anti social tendency to having swords, but by that exception it seems that you don't think that it would be a good idea for criminals, the anti social or people with mental health issues to have swords. 20. Ah, John...John, John, John.... I thought you were going to answer the questions. What part of the self defence laws do you have a problem with? But instead of that you went back to your tried and tested formula of throwing in a piece which has nothing to do with the question. Instead you cite a tabloid scandle rag about a sucessful Police and intelligence operation. If you belive you have a point then why do you keep running away from the questions? Could it be that once you read them (I take it you have read them?) you discovered that there was nothing wrong with them, so you're trying to change the subject... John, it takes a big man to admit they are wrong, none of us will think anything less of you for admitting that you were mistaken. 24. This doesnt correlate with me then, you state it is wrong to be selfish then admit it is okay to be selfish. Why? In my opinion anything can be considered selfish, from eating foods that do more then sustain life, to taking pain medication when one is ill. We are motivated by our needs, which in turn is selfish ... Windcatcher didn't say its ok to be selfish, she belives she is very selfish. Thats not the same thing at all, she simply recoginses her selfishness which possibly maybe VERY Selfish to her but insignificant to another. you on the other hand have already stated that you think its ok to be selfish.
