  1. I agree with your post. Especialy about the polititions. Crime and general anti social behaviour just isn't a sexy headline catcher. I think the reason for the that is that it takes a long time to enforce a change which as you quite rightly pointed out must engage the public at grassroots level. In this world of media power it just doesn't pay for career polititions to get to close to the grime. Mud as they say sticks, if their policies don't work they're doomed, if they take to long t work they're doomed. If they can make a quick win on a few easy topics then its in their best interests to do so and leave the hard unpopular changes well alone. 4. So once again its time for the worlds second largest Carnival. Yes once again its time for the scum of the earth to gather with the leftys, Afro Carabeans and the niave out of towners and forigeners to gather in west London on the bank holiday weekend for a festival of ragga 'music', over loud distorted sound systems, Red Stripe lager burnt barbequed chicken rice and peas and steel bands. Mix in gangs of muggers, steamers gunmen and knife wielding crack cocaine using killers and you've got the Notting Hill Carnival. Throw in the possibility of psychotic suicide bombers and it makes you wonder who in their right minds would go to such an event. Yet around 2 million are expected to attend the three day event this year. With its track record I guarentee numerous stabbings probable shootings and several rapes. Its time to ban the Notting hill Carnival. In the mean time what is your forcast for the weekends carnage that is the Notting Hill Carnival? http://cps.gov.uk/news/pressreleases/archive/2006/176_06.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/nolpda/ukfs_news/hi/newsid_3615000/3615686.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/uk/899284.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/900747.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/low/uk/904298.stm http://www.guardian.co.uk/crime/article/0,,2145921,00.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=422340&in_page_id=1770 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=388366&in_page_id=1770 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=474279&in_page_id=1770 http://www.londonnet.co.uk/ln/talk/news/archive/2000/sep/headlines_20000904_420.html http://edition.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/europe/08/24/uk.carnival/ To give you an idea: In total there were two murders, 19 stabbings, 69 injuries and 129 arrests among an attendance of 2.5 million at the year 2000 carnival. Carnival crime has been rose 27% in one year dispite attendance being down by 500,000 people from the previous year. Last year there were two murders although I have been unable to get the crime stats for last year as the government doesn't include them in its crime stats. Its time to ban this abonomation. 5. Two youths aged 18 and 14 have been arrested on suspicion of murdering the 11-year-old boy who was shot dead as he played football in Liverpool last night. Rhys Jones was with two friends outside the Fir Tree pub in Croxteth when he was hit in the neck by one of three shots fired by a teenager on a BMX bike…… Rhys was kicking around a football when the teenage gunman, whose face was covered by a hood, fired his three shots. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article2312504.ece The litany of young victims of violent crime has horrified police and public alike. Jessie James, 15, was shot dead in a park in the tough Moss Side district of Manchester. James Andre Smartt-Ford, 16, of New Malden, Surrey, died after being shot at Streatham. Three days later Michael Dosunmu, of Peckham, South London, was shot dead by gunmen who broke into his home just days after he had celebrated his 15th birthday. On Valentine’s Day Billy Cox, 15, was shot dead on the doorstep of his home in Clapham, South London. Martin Dinnegan, 14, was stabbed in Islington, North London. Three males have been charged with murder. Sam Brown, a schoolboy aged 16, was stabbed to death on a council estate in Blackpool in May. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2311506.ece Girls chant kill him http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article1522408.ece Teen murders footballer http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article2017588.ece Stabbed to death for looking the wrong way http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article1996525.ece Boy shot dead by youths on bicycles http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article2145351.ece Killed for complaining about rubbish http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6948537.stm Special Operation against Carnival Knife crime http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/5278432.stm The problem is that we now have a society where there is no discipline and the rule of law is ridiculed. Children run riot safe in the knowledge that they either won't go to jail and even if the did they wouldn't serve long and it would increase their street cred if they did. They also know that adults won't say anything if they throw litter, bully people, spit at passers by, torture animals and generally do whatever they want because the adults are frightened of them and powerless under the law (for all intent and purposes). Police are afraid to go after the gangs. Sure these street monkeys dress like they just walked out of south central LA and talk like 50 Cents but why? Don't blame America blame ourselves. With no British culture to identify with these kids identify with the gang culture of the US. Gangsta rap in the US doesn't cause violence it is an expression of it. Here maybe its slightly different as the street monkeys are aping the US gang culture. What we need is a British culture and strong national identity which we have lost. We need a police force that hasn't been emasculated by liberal laws and the courts to back the victims rights not the criminals. Patriotism shouldn't be a dirty word and its time we faced the fact that the UK is full. One in four children in this country are now born to at least one foriegn parent, no wonder there is no sense of comunity or feeling of belonging in the UK amoungst the youth. We need something to replace the gangs, a return to the house system in the schools, competitive sport, greater support for sports and athletics clubs, more cadet units (millitary and police and civil) and more support for them from central government too. More and more profesionals are leaving the UK to fnd a better life elsewhere. I've decided to stay and try and build a better community and return these countries to better times. I'd like to know what you think the UK needs to do to recover from its current social decay. 6. Sounds like a unrealistic romantic view of the military. Also the idea of accepting anyone who wants to join sounds like a dangerous one. As for the rest of the idea its not a good one. Some people are by nature warriors, others scholars (a few both) people have different nature for good a good reason, thats how society has a balanced skill mix. Trying to make a person with a peace loving gentle nature who would be a good responsible citizen into a warrior simply isn't a good idea. Better leave war to warriors. 15. So I was pondering the meaning of life this morning and came to the conclusion that the supreme being might be insecure or maybe he doesn't have an inate conscience. I mean why would he make us a) In his own image b) To worship him? Surely if he made the universe/universes and everything within it/them then why would he create us to worship him? Surely we're hardly significant in the big scheme of things. So if he needs our praise and worship then surely that would make him pretty insecure. If worshiping him isn't the point then maybe we're here for another reason. People always ask why does the maker let bad things happen? Well what if he hasn't got any sort of inate moral compass? Maybe thats why he made us, to guide him by mass conciousness, why else give us free will? What is the point of free will? Especially if you know already everything that can and will be? Does (choose a name of you belife) use our prayer to guide his decisions? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 18. if you think that is screwed up wait 'till you hear this. A friend of my mother came home to find her doberman choking on something on further examination it turned out to be a finger. Upstairs she found the rest of the would be burglar who had locked himself in the bathroom to escape the dog. She called the police (of course having made him comfortable with tea and biscuits, as is the custom here in dear old Blighty) and he was duely arrested. He then had her proscecuted for having a dangerous dog and won! The dog was ordered to be destroyed and she was sued for compensation. Honestly I shit you not. This was going back to the early 90's. 19. Don't be silly John, of course you don't invite him into the kitchen far to many weapons there (except guns of course) no you invite him into the day room offer him some tea (only crumpets after four pm old chap) and possibily a biscut. Then you may send a small boy for the local constabulary (provided you have a shilling to give him) Then simply wait until said bobby arrives. Its perfectly simple don't cha know?
