  1. Ah ha, someone read the article. You are of course correct, but its still a Islamic place of worship during the services. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  2. Quite right, I was a bit flippant in my post. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  3. There are undoubtedly a perfectly reasonable number of construction workers who see this as a matter of freedom of religion and the ability to use your property as you see fit. Just as a single imam does not speak for all of Islam, and Pat Robertson does not speak for all of Christianity, Timothy McVeight didn't speak for all veterans, and I don't speak for all skydivers, construction workers probably aren't a monolithic group who all think alike . Wendy P. I was refering to the 'pledge' that was mentioned in the artical, you did read the article didn't you Wendy? 4. So you want to stop any mosque being built because of the possibility that it might be linked to terror in the future? Many here want to make this about freedom of religion. It is not. Period In any event it may be a non-issue seeing as they may not be able to get enough skilled labor to build it http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/08/20/2010-08-20_we_wont_build_it_hardhats_say_no_way_they_will_work_on_wtc_mosque.html Yeah what a great group of Americans there... not that those kind of conservatives would think about what is actually IN the constitution of this country Perhaps more classes in civics would have helped them to understand our constitution instead of the Friday night football game and after party. From Wiki The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment refers to the first of several pronouncements in the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, stating that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion". Together with the Free Exercise Clause ("... or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"), these two clauses make up what are commonly said as the "religion clauses" of the First Amendment. The establishment clause has generally been interpreted to prohibit 1) the establishment of a national religion by Congress, or 2) the preference of one religion over another. The first approach is called the "separation" or "no aid" interpretation, while the second approach is called the "non-preferential" or "accommodation" interpretation. The accommodation interpretation prohibits Congress from preferring one religion over another, but does not prohibit the government's entry into religious domain to make accommodations in order to achieve the purposes of the Free Exercise Clause. The clause itself was seen as a reaction to the Church of England, established as the official church of England and some of the colonies, during the colonial era. It won't make a difference, it will get built. there are plenty of construction workers in a country with 260 million people in it. Give them more money and they'll put their hats on alright. 5. This guy is a prick, he's no more a Muslim leader than the head of the Westboro Baptist Church is a Christian leader. He and his very small group have been attacked by Muslims on the streets of Britain for supporting terrorism. If there is one fucker that deserves to be in Gitmo its this piece of shit. http://www.pbm.org.uk/press/20091002islam4uk.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pwy1W0IvnMg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITq7rLG64Lc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srYy996KHhI&feature=related British Muslims confronting Islamist extremists from UK4Islam/Al Majairoun on the streets on Luton (UK) (From 2:13 onwards) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX7Oh7YJMGo&feature=related When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 7. Yet no one said anything. A mosque is a place of prayer for the worshipers of Islam (in case you were wondering.) This wasn't a block or two away but at the actual site of a 9/11 attack. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/19/AR2010081906506.html When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 9. Really? Who has admitted that there have been 100 mosques built to mark some sort of victory? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  10. Are you afraid that Japan will attack the USA again? Or that the Catholic Church will being murdering thousands in persuit of ridding the devil from the world? Or that the USA will nuke another country twice more? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  11. When you say they I guess you are talking about Al Q and their franchisees. Yes you are right they are cleaver and very media savvy. However it is a bit of a leap to lump the people behind the Mosque in with them without any proof. 12. I don't care. It's none of my business. They can put it wherever they want for whatever reason they want. Why do you think it's not a freedom of religion issue? If you dont care then stop posting here then. Because it is not about religion. For the very reasons, links and query's I have posted here today Marc you haven't really given any argument other than you think we're being 'played'. Can you elaborate on why you think this is the case? When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  15. Ok, I read the lot. Being objective I found the article to be biased, emotional, unbaised in fact and content. As for the use of the term Victory Mosque that I just see as inflamatory. The writer is a known hater of Muslims and has been roundly critisied for being so. All in all an artical without merit. 20. Taking into account Bill Von detail that it is some distance away there is no reason at all. Sometimes though graciousness can carry alot of weight. Defiantly sticking to a chosen site regardless of the feeling and protests of a group of people who I imagine are emotionally scarred is not a good form of diplomacy. Would it really hurt to say something along the lines of "We understand the sensitivities and as such we will ensure that our place of worship is x miles from ground zero but please realise that we condemn the actions of those loonies..."? At the end of the day it is a propaganda war and the muslims have lost it on this issue. guys in our office were talking about the audacity of muslims to build on ground zero today (in the UK). Should in Christians Texas have to appologies for the Christians that killed Federal Agents at Wako if they want to build a Church a mile down the road? Secondly, if this Mosque is not built then what next? Should the Manhatten Mosque down the road that has been there since 1970 be closed? Pulled down? Burnt??? Where does it stop Kristallnacht? 23. There isn't a single one of those in this thread. It's a childish slander that those who criticize the government are America-haters, or who criticize the military are military-haters - any more than those who criticize their loved ones to try to make them better people are family-haters. It's also totally silly that a lifelong civilian has no moral right to criticize his country's military. Maybe you should read the First Amendment, toss aside your juvenile slogans, and then re-examine who should STFU. Well said Sir. 24. I have served and I agree with the poster that just because somone joins up doesn't make them a hero and deserving of instant respect above anyone else. I also agree that not everyone who joins up does so for 'Freedom' As for people who haven't served just 'STFU' maybe you missed the whole point of democracy & 'freedom' that the US millitary supposedly defend. Just because someone doesn't agree with your point of view doesn't make them a 'hater', the world is full of shades of grey, not everything is black and white. 25. Oh really? I'd argue that a Dr, Nurse or Radiographer is far more likely to risk their life on a daily basis than a Soldier who is either not in a war zone or is in a REMF job. Getting assulted by patients or even murdered is not uncommon. On top of which getting a needlestick injury from a patient with HepB, HIV not to mention a whole host of other nasty diseases is a everyday risk.
