  1. So... tell us the whole story then? Sounds awesome at any rate.
  2. Very nice! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  3. To be really impressed, check out our home dz's tracking guru Luc on trackingderby.com; he flies a regular RW suit with normal booties, flying an amazing 1.42 glide ratio: http://trackingderby.com/en/trace_view_4339_meters.php He did a FFC with us, but wasn't that impressed with the glide ratio of wingsuits for some reason and has gone back to just doing tracking. He even gets his own jump run to make sure he doesn't overshoot the dz. I still think he should get into wingsuiting... he could kick some serious ass if he tried a little longer. 4. I'm not sure whether to be horrified or really curious. I guess I'll have to try it out myself. BTW, DarkZero, whats that Ferrari F430 part doing there in the pic? I can't identify where on the car it goes, I only recognize only the logo. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  5. Agreed, but the suit itself is pretty good. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  6. We have a second hand Bird-Man Impact for sale on our site (not ours, selling it for a friend): http://www.flylikebrick.com/forsale.php Interested? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

  8. The database error messages are bit ugly... I'm gonna fix those soon. The database server (which is a different server than the webserver) sometimes gets a bit fritzy... just try again a minute later and it should work. 9. Indeed, Amen! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  10. On last sunday's episode of Top Gear, there was a section where 2 Frenchmen with speedflying canopies race an Audi RS6 down a mountain. Pretty spectacular. http://youtube.com/watch?v=BcVWQ985Wyg Youtube has a high quality version available as well: http://youtube.com/watch?v=BcVWQ985Wyg&fmt=18 Enjoy! 11. Tried it when Hardy Heron came out, but there's something wonky with my PC. I can't install Ubuntu or any Ubuntu based distro. It hangs somewhere during the setup, and I can't get past it. I've tried the alternate CD and many many different startup options. So, I went back to Debian, which is okay but not very exciting or new. 12. I would hope they would be more wind IMpermiable than the older stuff. I thought the permiability was not the issue, but the durability, as parapack is more durable than balloon zp in the long run. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  13. Try VideoLAN. It will play almost anything you throw at it, without having to install extra codecs. Plus it has a bazillion features and is open source and free to boot! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  14. Sounds lovely, I really wanna see the pics and video! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  15. Very cool... damn you guys do a lot of cool stuff.

  17. I have the same backpack, you wouldn't be able to fit a helmet in there. It is nice for all your electronics though, although the bottom pouch for camera's isn't very big. I'm kind of dissapointed with it, considering the price. It also wears out pretty quickly. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  18. I tried to find bolts with rounded heads, but my hardware store didn't have them. Make sure you use a nylon locknut on the other side of the bolt. Yes, although the cable ties are not enough to hold it in place. The yellow cable is very smooth/slippery and slips out of the cable ties, so I'm going to add some glue (2 component epoxy resin) to make sure it all stays in place. Alternatively you can use a piece of metal folded and clamped around the 2 yellow cables. Put a piece of heat shrink tubing around it to make sure it does not have sharp edges (I'm describing what everymansaved has on his helmet in the picture a few posts back). See the Cookie Composites site for an example of a similar cutaway system to mine: http://cookiehelmets.com/shop/helmetaccessories/38/index.htm Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  19. I'm not sure I envision your solution properly, but some people replace the bolt in one of the 2 chinstraps by a piece of closing loop, which is held fast by the cutaway cable in the back. Bonehead uses a system like this on their Flat Top Narrow (only the latch is in the back, so less pressure to contend with). Maybe McCordia can post some pics of the cutaway system here? He has the FT narrow. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  20. Yeah I had that problem during testing, and I think I've solved it by moving the riser slightly back, but I'll try it again when the setup is complete (glue is still drying). So far no problems finding it and grabbing it... This is kind of difficult: you don't want it to let go too easily (no premature releases), yet it has to let go easily when needed. 21. Here are promised pics. The most difficult part is actually getting the helmet side velcro for the release cable to stick to the helmet.
  22. There are reports of these not working under load. The pin thats supposed to be pushed out by the spring doesn't come out because it jams. I've also heard that exactly this type of system is not allowed in France as a cutaway system because of it not working. I don't have any references at the moment, sorry. I'll see if I can find some. I've recently built a cutaway system by recycling some old risers I had lying around and using the 3-ring system on there (I only use the 2 rings on the riser itself + the loop). I'll post some pics tonight when I get home. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  23. Very cool video Tristan. Well done on the editng and camerawork. Man I need to go jumping in Switzerland... those are some awesome views! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  24. Wow... cool... thats my old S3S! I sold it to an Israeli guy... is that him or did he sell it to someone else? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
