  1. A friend sent some more info on Top Fuel dragsters. I imagine this rocket powered thing is about as fast. http://www.admit-one.net/?p=1507 Unbelievable. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  2. Holy shiiiit... that's seriously fast! I can't believe how quick it takes off. Do you know how many G's that was? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  3. Correction: the L&B Altitrack cannot be used. Larsen&Brusgaard have not been willing to share the protocol used for downloading information from the L&B Altitrack. Although, maybe if enough people ask them nicely...
  4. Yeah congrats to Toby, amazing performance.
  5. A glide ratio which might be able to be maintained is 2.0. The distance is 25 km. This would mean getting out at 12 km altitude. Jet liners fly at 10km altitude (30,000ft). Soo... yeah you'd need between 30 and 40 000 ft exit altitude to do this. Probably more challenging than Yves' flight considering the -40 cold and the rarified air.
  6. Damn... that was frikkin awesome!! He made it in about 10 minutes. Very cool. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  7. Today Yves Rossy is going to flying across the English channel using his jet wing. You can watch it live here right at this moment: http://www2.jetmanlive.com/nl/WatchLive.aspx Cheers Costyn Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News

  9. He's pulling ahead with 22%, the next picture is 18%. I think there's a definite lead now. Cool Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  10. We've gotten an answer about this: jumping with a 1 year repack cycle is no problem for you Germans. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  11. Here's a link to Google Maps (the club is at the 'B' marker) Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  12. Very nice, they've definately got their shit together. And a huge segment posted to TV. Pretty cool. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  13. The weather looks okay for the weekend, especially Sunday: http://www.meteogroup.com/int/home/weather/world_weather/city_weather.html?cityID=31X3306&tx_mgcityweatherstatic_pi1[cityIDuse]=31X3306 Unfortunately the dropzone is quite far away from Rotterdam city center, but during the climb to altitude you might spot it, if you are next to the door, as it is a Caravan cargomaster without any windows. Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  14. See the help, all the way at the bottom: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=markup_help; You almost got it right, you start with a [ u r l ] and then after the web addres, you put a [ / u r l ] (without the spaces) Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  15. Very nice... that was enjoyable to watch. I like all the ground footage too; only using flocking footage gets boring after a while.
  16. Our German friend Oliver (don't remember his handle on dz.com) jumps a Nitron as well, doesn't seem to have many problems with it. I don't know what size it is, though. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  17. Damn... that's looking pretty good! nice work guys. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  18. Ha, great idea yeah! Now I'm dissapointed that I haven't taken a GPS on more jumps. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  19. Do you have his home address? Maybe pay him a personal visit? Or if he lives to far away, find someone who lives nearby to go visit and ask what the deal is? Or maybe the person who doesn't want to give it back needs some public embarassment to motivate him? You could post personal details online, a "service to others" to look out for this person, "make sure that no one else is conned" Good luck with this. 20. Haha nice! BTW, you American types can order stroopwafels online in the USA. Of course I can't vouch for their quality. They're not a brand I've ever seen before. I'll can bring a bunch in November, but I'm not sure about the food import laws. I'd wager stroopwafels count as bakery items? Interestingly enough, the stroopwafel seems to be a phenomenon in the group of people who work on and develop the software for Wikipedia too. I like their poster too. 22. Jeff's got the right idea here. To say faster flocks are easier is like saying it's easier to control a motorcycle at high speeds. True, it's easier to control the bike going 50mph than 5mph, but at 150mph it becomes difficult again due to the extreme speed. The best flocking speed is in the middle, not even close to "fast" or balls out. Indeed, IMHO, the speed and breathing of the flock are mostly unrelated. What is related are the proximity and the breathing. The closer you fly, the more small inputs people make which are then propagated to the back. Close proximity flying is cool, but it does not make for a neat evenly spaced flock. Additionally, there is not only a burble above and behind you, but there's dirty air around the sides too. I've noticed this flying as a base, where someone is flying very close to my leg wing and I felt my leg wing get bumped around by the bow wave coming off the person behind me. Another reason not to have people flying too close to the base. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  23. Well balloons might be cheap, but a theodolite (angle measuring device) is not really cheap? Or can you rent these? Then it might become interesting. And are the big balloons cheap too? You'd have to follow it with the theodolite until 3000 meters, so I imagine you'd need a pretty big balloon (or a really good (expensive) theodolite).
