  1. Damn... I would've paid to see that! But... have you taken a GPS with you on a rocket-fueled run yet? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  2. Agreed... it should be measured over range in altitude (2500 to 1500), not a range in time (105 seconds fixed). Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  3. But don't you agree that glide ratio is a good measure of pilot ability/wingsuit performance? If you want to compare those, I say you should use glide ratio, not distance covered over time. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  4. Thats very impressive, and shows exactly what is wrong with Tracking Derby. This jump should be at nr 1. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  5. But for which part of the jump of the tandem do you calculate the windspeed from? Freefall or canopy? (and if so, how?) And if you calculate the wind speed from the tandem, do you use that speed for the entire day, or only for that load? I actually find Tony's 2.9 glide ratio a little unbelievable, considering the best glide ratio on trackingderby.com is 2.7. Is it possible to get uncorrected scores from the competition? With the wind factor taken out? I'm just curious to see how it factors into the scores. Yeah this is indeed an interesting point. I heard from several people who got a much longer freefall time during the distance challenge than during the time challenge. I'm guessing its because of the forward speed, you actually start getting some lift, instead of just trying to cup air and almost stalling the suit. It's too bad Tracking Derby is time-based instead of altitude based like we had at Marl. There are some issues with using time which you do not have with just altitude. I really liked having a 1000m window in which to perform. Also, it makes it more accessible, as you can also participate if you jump from 10,000ft instead of 13,000ft. 6. Uhhh, Jeff shot it?? That's not what I remember. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  7. Absolutely, which is why I like the distance challenge as they had it at Marl because it directly equates to glide ratio, which is the ultimate performance measure of a wingsuit and it's pilot, if you ask me. Of course, there are still some kinks to be worked out, like having a consistent jump run (preferably at 90 degrees to regular jump run, with contestants only having to make 1 90 degree turn to be flying back to the DZ), working GPSes (maybe with the help of a GPS repeater in the plane), and figuring out a way to deal with the wind variable (ideally a streamer of some sorts with a gps attached which could give you some reliable data on winds at altitude). 8. Thanks Skyjester! We had an awesome time and we will be back next year, actually having practiced beforehand. See you soon at Spa! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  9. Very nice, Scott. I'm sure it'll fly beautifully. On a side note, I can't believe no one has spotted/mentioned Miss July on Scott's right! Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  10. They're more likely to make you chubbier seeing as they're just sugar and butter, but they are very very tasty. We'll bring more stroopwafels to Spa, seeing as they're so popular. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  11. All the pictures have no .jpg extension, so they don't really work. Maybe you could try re-uploading them? Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  12. Wait... you mean you weren't born knowing how to wingsuit? I mean, seeing you fly it often seems this way. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  13. So... where was this second AN-72 then? Or was it stuck on the ground in Moldavia too? Anyways, yea it was a pretty good boogie considering that the big plane never showed up. Thanks to all the organizers for going all-out in figuring out how to make it all work. I can't really add anything to what James and Jarno have said.
  14. BM Classic 2 in 2005 somewhere. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  15. Very nice... I like the colors and the dynamic range is good too. How many skydiving pics have you made with this camera so far? BTW, you guys coming to the Cochstedt boogie? Cheers Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  16. Agreed: Skill is by far the largest factor, that there is no way to compare suits in this way. You would have to have 1 person test all different suits on the same day at the same dropzone, in the same wind conditions. Even then, you have issues with the person getting tired after a couple performance jumps. Another issue is that not many people have GPS's. And besides, why do you want to make a database here on dz.com when there's already TrackingDerby, which has the same information? 18. Welcome to the flock... I'm missing something in the pictures though... they seem empty somehow without a good Campos. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  19. I shoot without a wide-angle for outside video, and with a Raynox HD 3030 for inside video. I do not turn off anti-shake or auto-focus and use the conv lens option when using the wide-angle. I've gotten good results so far. I've looked for AME II tapes, but couldn't find them. The regular Sony tapes work fine. 20. I think the Zkulls quick release is probably the flattest: http://rcb-lab.com/product1.htm The space left between the helmet and mounted object is less than 1mm (1/32 inches). Yes, you do have to drill a 50mm hole into your helmet, but hey, it works beautifully. Highly recommended. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  21. Congrats Tristan... nice achievement! So... enlighten us on your technique. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  22. Yes, but Rotterdam airport is an international airport, and to be able to enter the airport apron, you need to go through a passport control. I guess its all to do with the terrists and such. And yes, it gets annoying after the novelty of the 1st time. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
  23. It´s 17.000,- $ . . . for me it´s too much to do it every month, but only at the right moment bet 500 $ on one of this 37 numbers (roulette) and it´s tango ! Ouch... I guess I'll have to save up a long time. Costyn van Dongen - http://www.flylikebrick.com/ - World Wide Wingsuit News
