  1. These were your sources??? I'm just saying it would have been better to find the facts and the actual sources before making a bunch of public accusations. I would be a lot more likely to take you seriously if you could point me to a credible source for this information. I did find at least one link to a news story that made similar accusations to what you stated above, but it was from a highly-biased, not-so-credible (in my opinion) source, so I'm not going to post a link to that. (I'm sure everyone can do a search and find it on their own if they're interested.)
  2. You started this thread with some very loose, non-factual information that you couldn't even remember the details of, and now everyone is bashing John Kerry's wife without actually saying what she has done wrong. I've done some searching myself and have not come up with anything, so can you please provide some REAL information? From what I have seen so far, her agendas seem to be along the same lines as her husband's, so I am guessing the only people who have a problem with that are the people who don't like John Kerry. If your point is that people need to consider the candidate's spouse when voting, I think most people do that to some extent anyway. And if Gravitymaster's statement is true about how corrupt people become in Washington (and I wouldn't be surprised if it IS true), then I guess we better take a good look at Laura Bush too since she has now been there for almost four years. But the fact that she keeps her opinions to herself more than Kerry's wife does makes it a little bit harder to know what her agenda is. Personally I'd rather see a First Lady who is not afraid to speak her mind (like Eleanor Roosevelt) than someone who plays the blindly-adoring wife role for her oh-so-powerful husband. But either way, I would vote for the candidate who I feel would make the best President (all things considered). Anyhow (sorry for rambling on), my point is that if you're going to start throwing out accusations at someone, please provide actual facts or at least a reference to the source where you got this information. (Edited for spelling.)
  3. Yes, I did hear about that. What does that have to do with John Kerry's wife? No, they are actors, therefore I believe they are acting. I also realize that politicians put on a lot of "fluff" when they are in front of the media, but that goes for all of them, including George W. and Laura Bush. I grew up in Midland, TX, and went to the same church as George W. while his dad was Vice President. I didn't know him personally, but I do have an idea of what he is like as a "real" person. I have no doubt that the President's wife (whichever candidate is elected) will have some influence on her husband and some power of her own, and I do take that into account when voting, but it is not my main consideration.
  4. Just because she has been married to two powerful men, that makes her obviously a woman who seeks out powerful men??? That doesn't seem like a very fair assumption. I have been married twice, and both of my husbands have made more money than me. Should I have purposely chosen a second husband that made less money than me just to make sure everyone knows I am not a gold-digger? From what I have seen of John and Teresa, they seem to have a lot in common and they even look like they're still in love with each other. Are there any facts that can validate the accusation that she only married him for more power?
  5. Ditto. Though I'm actually starting to like Kerry, the more I learn about him...
  6. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/ Guess that won't work if you're using a radio alarm clock though...
  7. "Mad World" by Tears for Fears... though it's the Gary Jules version from "Donnie Darko" that I have stuck in my head...
  8. Shotgun

    WTF ?

That is hilarious! I hadn't seen it before... He wouldn't get naked for me though. But he did dance like a chicken and spank himself at my request.
  9. Oh, well I just have to clarify that I am not a BASE jumper... just playing one in my avatar at the moment. I've made a few bridge jumps and may or may not make any more... Anyway, that's off topic, but I didn't want to be giving anyone the wrong impression... Hopefully I'll see you out here.
  10. That's the spirit! Thanks for letting us laugh at.... er, I mean, with you.
  11. Hey Mel, If you're going to be in Perris next weekend, check with the Square One store at the dz... When I was working there, we had lots of posters left over from the Bluebook 2000, so there's a good chance they may still have some. I think they were around $30, and they were really beautiful, full-size posters of Monica's pics... Good luck, and maybe I'll meet you in Perris if I make it out to the dz while you're around. Either way, have a great trip!
  12. just the funniest thing about this whole thread? That's pretty funny.
  13. To me, they look more like the effects of saving a compressed image in .jpg format, but I guess it's all a matter of opinion... Here is a copy of the first photo posted in this thread that I put into Photoshop and saved with a higher level of compression. The letters are now blurrier. Who knows...
  14. And I think this is the most realistic version of that picture that I have seen: http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=61223
  15. The first photo is 113KB with smaller dimensions, and the second photo is only 103KB with larger dimensions... So I would say the blurriness around the words has to do with the quality of the .jpg that was saved and not how well it was touched up. I have seen a different copy of that first photo that is only 72KB, and as you can see, the lower quality is making the letters blurrier: http://www.cair-net.org/images/lcpl11.jpg
  16. My first thought on that is that it has been Photoshopped.... I mean, how stupid would someone have to be to write up a sign like that and then have themselves photographed with it??? But then I remember how stupid some people are... and I'm not so sure... But I'm still leaning towards the Photoshop theory... easy enough to do, and I'd really like to think that no US military person is that much of an asshole... (or is that just naive of me????)
  17. Just got my "Donnie Darko" DVD in the mail... strange circumstances of why I ended up ordering one (partially to do with this thread)... I'll let you know what I think after I've watched it...
  18. Umm, perhaps your spelling and grammar comprehension needs works as well, in order for others to understand what you're saying??? There is even a "Check Spelling" button if you need help. (Sorry Zen, you know I love you! )
  19. Well, mine has turned into a pretty suckie day too. Got up this morning, feeling fairly happy... saw my kitty and bent over to pick him up when OUCH! - something pulled in my neck/shoulder and now I've have had a nasty throbbing pain down my whole left side all day... from my fingertips to my toes! It is my anniversary today, and my friend's birthday, and I was supposed to go fly in the tunnel with my buddies... but now I've had to bail out because I am in too much pain. It's dangerous to pick up cats! So yeah, I've had a suckie day too... but I'll stop whining now.
  20. Hey, that's great news! Congratulations!
  21. Yes. Cocaine is a plant. (Coca) Heroin is a plant (Poppy) Peyote is a plant. Psyllocibyn(sp) is a plant. (more or less-it's a mushroom) Pot is a plant. Those found in possession of any of these deserve the proper punishment, (be it prison, a fine, etc) per the laws YOUR lawmakers have passed. Ummm, isn't most alcohol made from plants (wheat, barley, corn, etc.)??? I have poppies and mushrooms growing in my backyard... but I don't consume them... However, technically I am in possession of them, so does that mean I should be fined or put in prison (and taken care of by all the lovely taxpayers' dollars)??? Ok, this is definitely a topic for "Speaker's Corner"... so I'm just gonna shut up now.
  22. I will... Though the last time I was in the tunnel with her, she was Pink & Green Chick... wearing a pink JFTC jumpsuit and a bright green SQ1 demo helmet.
  23. Occasionally enjoy wine with dinner...But that's not gonna get me sent to prison. Hmm, I could have sworn I've seen posts from you talking about drinking beer, but maybe you've matured since then and stopped that nasty habit? Not anymore, but it did support them during the brief time that it was illegal... Funny, similar to the situation going on today... take the illegality out of it and all the murderous bad people are out of the picture... Now I'm not suggesting anyone should do drugs. Obviously drugs (including alcohol) are bad for you. It just seems a bit hypocritical for anyone who drinks alcohol to talk down to pot smokers when they are both equally bad drugs.
  24. It's some silly stoner/hippie thing... http://www.420.com/420site/lounge/content.php?aid=3&bid=200 (possibly NSFW) Edited to say: Though it now seems to have become just an excuse to generally party it up on 4/20, regardless of the means.
