It's a biggie when they stay in the closet and take an anti-gay stance in office. There's no way to resolve the ethical issues. If they vote against gay rights related stuff because their constituents want them to, it's pretty damned likely that their constituents would not have voted them into office if they were out. For a lot of people in this country (perhaps the majority?), simply being gay is a biggie, and they would not likely vote an openly gay person into office. At least that's how it seems to me. As for this guy being a hypocrite, he's only a hypocrite if he voted to make gay sex illegal, which I'm pretty sure he didn't. It's quite possible for him to have sex with another man but still believe that same-sex marriage is not ok (for whatever reason). Edit: Ok, I just read an article that said he also voted against changing the state's Civil Rights Act to include sexual orientation as being protected from discrimination. So I guess that part is sort of hypocritical of him. I'm guessing that his own sexual orientation is something that causes a lot of internal conflict for him... not that that's an excuse.

Good luck. This has been happening to us ever since we moved to Murrieta (a few years now). I tried putting notes on my mailbox (Please leave mail for only "this name" and "that name.") I called the post office and complained several times, and I eventually even spoke with the post office manager who assured me it would get straightened out. Nothing changed; we still get lots of mail for other people. So far we haven't had any important mail go missing , but it does make me wonder if we miss out on some of our mail that we're not aware of. Oh, and we have one of those cluster boxes too. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I've never had this problem before.

I still don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you could post a picture?

I know about the red wings, but I had to look up the other two. The only thing I could find about "pink helmet" was the female firefighting community.
-
I had to look that up on urbandictionary. Gross.

Well, have you? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfYgr4vlH-Q Probably NSFW

Well, for most of this country it does seem to be a biggie. We want good Christian men running our country. You know, the kind that cheat on their wives with other women, not with other men.

There goes America's hope for a better future...
Shotgun replied to Remster's topic in Speakers Corner
Right, because they're perfectly capable of handling that task by themselves. -
Micro was one of my favorite classes. Except that my Bacillus megaterium "unknown" was completely contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus, so most of the tests came out wrong.

I'm sure THAT was the most interesting paper for the teacher to read! Perhaps, but he did NOT have anything nice to say about it.
-
Well see, that's one of the reasons I hate writing them. I feel like I have to put a lot of effort into it, and I'm thinking that they're probably not even reading it. (Except for that poli sci teacher; he definitely read that paper. ) Hmm, maybe I should go back to writing them while drunk... as long as I have time to read them again while sober before turning them in.
-
Well, it's a mixture of topics, but combining how they all relate to each other: the Protestant Reformation, Scientific Revolution, the Enlightenment, the Columbian Exchange, colonization of the Americas, the Catholic Church, capitalism and mercantilism, the African slave trade, and the Industrial Revolution. It's all interesting stuff. I just don't like writing papers, though I usually get good grades on them anyway. I used to find it helpful to get rather intoxicated while writing these silly papers... until that one political science paper that I wrote and turned in while extremely drunk (also an online class)... The topic was gay marriage, and I somehow managed to work in the facts that Clinton got a blowjob and that Catholic priests molest little boys.
-
Yes, it is sadistic. So it's surprising that I don't like it. It's an online class, so our grade consists of a midterm paper and a final paper, each 12-14 pages long and each worth 30% of our grade. But we get to choose four different topics for each, so it's more like writing four shorter papers at once. And we don't have to do the MLA or APA citation crap for these. Then we have to do one formal research paper (at least five pages), which is also worth 30%. The other 10% is from discussion questions, which is similar to posting in Speaker's Corner except that people aren't acting like assholes since their grade depends on it. I prefer math and science classes (mostly science), but I'm only in College Algebra right now, so I might change my mind when I get to the harder classes. But algebra is like working puzzles, so I find it to be sort of fun. Writing papers sucks ass though, and I don't like it because the grades are subjective rather than there being a clear right or wrong answer.

Ha! I'm just the opposite. I'm sitting here writing this freakin' 12-14 page history paper. I'm now about half way through, and the only thing that is keeping me going is knowing that if I finish this class it should be the last essay-writing class I'll ever have to take. (I actually enjoy history; I just don't like writing papers.)

You had that link bookmarked didnt you? Maybe. I like this quote from that page: "The only hope for peace is to teach people who are full of pep and unbound force to enjoy being bound."

I don't know about "hotter," but I probably liked Jeannie best as a kid, just because I wanted to live in a swanky little bottle like she had. But personality-wise, I liked the Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman better.
-
I would have pegged you for the Wonder Woman type, since she's sort of kinky: http://www.castlekeys.com/Pages/wonder.html Edit: I guess that link might be NSFW.

I wasn't counting, but it didn't seem like we had very many, considering how many kids there are in this town. We were having fun with it though - had the fog machine going outside the front door, and the front room decorated and creepy music playing. I would open the door looking "normal," and as I was giving the kids candy, Rich would pop out from the side in his scary mask to scare them (unless they were small children, in which case I'd give him a signal not to do it). The kids all seemed to be having fun, and we gave out most of the candy.

Marijuana growers taking over cottage country
Shotgun replied to Richards's topic in Speakers Corner
Not really... It's a bit easier to hide or dispose of a small bag of weed than to do the same with a plant. -

Apples and oranges really. Tending to a few plants does not seem as time consuming as home brewing. I kept a few herb plants (basil, oregano..etc) and it was no effort at all. Tried making wine and I would never go to the trouble again. I've never grown it, but having a quick look at sites like this (http://www.greenmanspage.com/guides/growersguide.html) makes me think it's a bit more difficult to grow than basil or oregano (which are some of the easiest plants to grow). -

Agreed. Funny, I've heard that a few times, but in a different context. -

I think you're overestimating the ambition level of most pot smokers. I mean, it's legal to brew beer at home and yet most people buy it elsewhere; I doubt that pot would be any different. But yeah, if the only choice is growing it legally at home or buying it illegally elsewhere, then a lot of pot smokers might take to gardening. It still just boggles my mind that marijuana is illegal while alcohol is legal. Not sure about legalizing other drugs, but weed? Sheesh. Not that it's good for you or anything, but (all things considered) it's certainly no worse than booze. -
Well I told you I would just take your word for it, but now you have proven your point with the authority of a dz.com poll. Does that mean I have to share Alycia now?

It's not my fault that you keep whacking off on the one you've got.

Hey, so I've lived a sheltered life, and I didn't know what spinner meant. But I have now been informed.
