Pittsburgh's D hasn't stopped anyone all year.......getting the ball back by surprise and running out the clock was a better option than putting that porous pass defense back on the field. Get up close and start a conversation (you know, how is sheryl in bed, does he still have the GTO that Overhaulin' did for him, etc...), let him get a good look at you in your spandex, then at low speed 'accidently' crash him out. Help him up, wipe the blood off his elbows, apologize profusely, then ask him for an autograph. He and his group will never forget you. The worst that could happen would be the SMU death penalty. But that was a different era......given the huge monetary loss that action would cause today, I can't see the NCAA imposing that on any major school in the future. Well, that could apply to any one of 15 teams or so. I think Bama could play about half-assed (like they did against Auburn and LSU) and still beat Texas. And I don't think Florida wilted, I think Bama just had WAYYYY too much for 'em. Yeah, I'd have to agree with your cynicism. It'll be interesting to see how far the BSU-TCU loser falls in the polls. The powers-that-be don't want 2 mid-majors in the Final Top 5, but they'll have one, and the potential to have 3 in the final Top 10. It's ridiculous that we don't have a legitimate, unbiased, un-political playoff system, and have to go through this same bullshit every year.
