footage emerges showing U.S. troops urinating on dead Afghan bodies
Marinus replied to jclalor's topic in Speakers Corner
Then who was it? -
The miracles went on after Jesus made his reversed skydive. For example: Jesus had no problem with appearing to Christophobe Paul with the intention to convert him. And if you don't see that as a miracle, Paul was magically healed of his blindness a couple of days (weeks?) later. Plus: people claim that miracles (like faith healings) continue to this day. Well, always to the people that don't need those miracles because they already believe of course.

No it isn't. No, I didn't. Nice diversion though. -

Don't you know? If you've got a problem with desecration of corpses, you should grow hair on your balls. If you've got a problem random killings of innocent civilians , you should grow a goatee If massacres bother you, a circle beard is advised. Genocides are a lot less troublesome with a full beard Grow chest hair, and torture won't keep you awake at night. Hairy arms will do in case of torture etc. It's all in the Macho Handbook -
Even if you were trying to convert me, if I can't handle that I should get the F out of the SC. So you aren't a Christian but you follow the teachings of JC anyway. Are you saying you believe in Christianity or something? Edit: Ah I see, approximately that plus some hard to define higher power. (?)

Pops Pot meet kettle! Or in other words, it feels exactly the same on this side of the discussion. An most of us are wasting bandwidth because it's in fact fun.

Let's quote Jesus, shall we? So start having faith that Mount S. Helens will move towards the Dutch Town of Nijmegen. When a whole volcano shows up at my front door, I'll convert on the spot and accept Jesus Christ as-my-lord-and-saviour-amen. Not that I don't have faith that you'll talk your way out of this one within 30 seconds.

The Christian God is extremely easy to disprove. If that God existed millions of Christians would be doing spectacular magic tricks like moving mountains, raising the dead and healing the amputated. This simply doesn't happen so that God doesn't exist. But since religion does in fact correct its mistakes, God evolves into something that's less easy to disprove. And if you disprove that, God becomes even vaguer. And in the end people just say that they believe in "something". And you, not even if you invoke Satan himself, can't possibly disprove the existence of "something".

I'm not sure what you're getting at....

I think you're right. They seem rather comfortable with pissing on corpses. This probably means that the habit of pissing on corpses isn't frowned upon too much by their peers or leaders -
Uhm, maybe you shouldn't read too much in it? ChristelSabine and I are on good terms AFAIK. It's not completely unusual for people to joke about stuff that went down 70 years ago or so.

No, he asked a gay, and was told what a Golden Shower was. -

Oh, I'm well aware that people can snap, especially when exposed to the stress of war. Especially when that continues for a long time. That doesn't mean that it's OK or should be ignored. I'll admit that pissing on dead people isn't the end of the world, but snapping comes in all forms and sizes, like supersized if, for example, a group of soldiers going bezerk in a village resulting in a massacre (Rawagede, My Lai) So while the behaviour is understandable, it should be condemned and where possible punished. Also, this doesn't seem to be a result of acute stress, more like "You know what would be cool? pissing on them and filming it LOL" But being under combat stress might as well result in dehumanization the enemy. Or, even stronger, you probably won't be a very good killer if you don't dehumanize the enemy to a certain degree. In contrary to popular believe, humans aren't extremely violent and actually usually don't like to kill at all. But still, you don't want people who behave like this in the army. -
Let's see The second line of the Dutch (that looks similar to, I don't know, the word Deutsch, isn't it?) national anthem: Ben ik van Duitsen bloed literally : I'm of German blood. Furthermore we imported much of our Royal Family from Germany, including the Founding Father of the Netherlands. It's not that love you, it's more that we're like creepy stalkers that pretend to be you. Oh and my first moped, was of course a Puch.

Yeah, bad stuff is bound to happen during war, but some stuff is uncalled for I think, besides you've to draw the line somewhere. Since pissing on corpses isn't strictly necessary, and it upsets a lot of people, you might as well draw the line there. -

It would have been much more practical, yes, but a bit counter productive to the original goal of the mission "protecting the good citizens of M." (If I remember it right.) Also there's some ethical issues surrounding nuking cities. But the whole point was that the desecration of the corpses of US soldiers caused a gigantic outrage too. -

So you were perfectly fine with it when they dragged those dead US soldiers through the streets of Mogadishu? http://www.historycommons.org/events-images/a938_dragged_through_street_2050081722-18027.jpg -
Well, thank you, but personally I don't think about admitting mistakes as that big of a deal. So I read too much in your comment, it happens. My other option would have been to look like a bloody idiot by insisting I'm right, btw. (and in many instances also refusing to learn something in the process.)

Let's say my sarcasm detector had a false positive
-
Because I assumed you were being argumentative. This is the SC you know. And the someone could have been your granddad for example which was involved in the Liberation of Nijmegen. Foreigners usually only know about Nijmegen because of the war. (Operation Marketgarden) But if you say you weren't being argumentative I've no reason to NOT believe you. I even say "I'm not sure what you're referring to", but I shouldn't have jumped to a conclusion. So My bad & I'm sorry

You're thinking waaaaaaaay to easy.

After the Semper Pee video: http://www.news.com.au/top-stories/us-marines-urinate-on-corpses-video-claim/story-e6frfkp9-1226242360095 I'm sure I've less trouble to figure it out. I'm not sure what you're referring too, but I expect it's more of the "But we liberated you" stuff. That's getting really old, in case of Nijmegen: 67 years, 3 months and 22 days old.

Nope, but this ^ is a lame attempt to avoid the point I made. You were taking about marriage in general. And I'm done with you again I think.
-
You were talking about marriage in general. It's tragic if one doesn't understand the posts of others, but it's more tragic if one doesn't understand his own post. Other than that there's of course polygamy (well polygyny is more correct) which is condoned by (some versions of) shariah law, but isn't recognized in many US states. How about that?
