Yeah it's compulsory for all workers at one place I know. It's a design and manufacturing place so it makes sense too have better process control. David
  2. I heared about that but that's nothing new. The length of stay of UK troops was debated prior to committing them and the lack of an exit strategy was pretty obvious. Even the plans for post war Iraq were vague at best. What I was suggesting was that the country is in a bit of a shambles right now and the possibility to acquire something in the chaos is there. It could always be buried and collected later after everyone leaves. Therefore, wouldn't it make sense to try and track it down ASAP with all means available? How long did the Russians have to fight in Afghanistan? How long have Hamas, PIRA, etc. been operating? Terrorist groups take a long term view and this could be a good chance to get hold of some WMD for later use so why not get everyone involved in finding them now instead of discovering that we missed a couple of tons later? Intelligence is of best use when it's fresh. David
  3. A couple of thoughts. 1. What are the chances that WMD have been taken by terrorist groups in the chaos that is the current Iraq? 2. Given that 1. is a possibility why are international experts not welcomed to speed up the search for weapons to prevent 1? I accept there is a degree of risk but they can be escorted now instead of facing the old regime and can interview scientists on the list that were reluctant to talk last time. 3. Why were rich intelligence sources i.e. The foreign ministry building not properly secured for their intelligence value but were picked over by journalists who took the intelligence materiel with them? David
  4. Mail man just delivered my fiancee's copy. She won't share though and keeps walking round the apartment with it so I can't start before she does. She was up till 3am finishing book 4 and getting psyched up for this one. David

  7. Are you crying? No. Are you crying? Yes. Why are you crying? There's no crying. There's no crying in baseball... David
  8. I heard that he claimed it was his warm up bat and that he took the wrong one up to the plate. I'm a bit of a cynic so why would you have a corked warm up bat? David
  9. The really nasty thought would be to not think of it carrying explosives but something else. Something it could disperse as an aerosol from a couple of hundred feet. David
  10. There were a couple of articles in the Glasgow Herald as well www.theherald.co.uk and www.sundayherald.com[url] Sorry but I can't link the articles directly but the stories are easily navigated in the news section. David
  11. I'd avoided posting on this thread but the temptation has just gotten too much. I've read plenty here about Iraq's freedom and heeard it in the press but I don't quite believe that they are "free". The country is still institutionalised in the way that long term prisoners are upon release (think the old guy that was released in Shawshank). It would appear that the people are still prisoners of the old institution in that they are incapable of operating in the manner associated with the population of a democratic country. The mindset has not yet adjusted to the change in circumstances. Just a thought. David
  12. Well we might have some pitching since the Hillenbrand trade so maybe we'll win a few more. Pity Shea was traded though. David
  13. It depends on how long I think I'll be stopped but more often than not I just hold in the clutch. I also use the handbrake (parking/ emergency brake) so that's when I throw it in nutral. I did have someone tap me in the same way but no damage was done. David
  14. I've read a few stories about that as well. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/correspondent/3028585.stm and http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,3604,956127,00.html David
  15. Am I the only one that wakes up and then resets the alarm for an extra 30 mins? The snooze is evil. David
  16. Post what your're interested in studying and at what level i.e. bachelors ( 1st, 2nd, 3rd year of studying) or masters. Alternatively a search through the web will provide some rankings. David
  17. 1 I love heights and I'd always wanted to jump from a plane 2 I've been jumping for 4 years now 3 I love the feeling of leaving all my cares behind as I exit the aircraft. Then in freefall I can fly around as I care and when I'm under canopy I'm still a few thousand feet up so I can still fly around in the sky. Sitting in the sky under canopy as the sky changes at sunset is something you can't explain. 3b it would be nice if it wasn't as expensive. David
  18. The initial report (now updated) had stated 7,000 feet (approx 2,200 m). They could have gotten it wrong I was just typing what I had read at the time. David
  19. They're also saying it was 45 minutes into the flight. My initial link was to the first report (which has since been updated and it looks like the Journalists were incorrect). David
  20. I'm wondering if the plane was still climbing and everything slid to the back door. Door falls off, people fall out, some try to grab others on the way down to stop themselves and drag them out as well. David
  21. Just found this story on the BBC webpage but there are reports of bunch of passengers being sucked out an aircraft at 7000. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/3013911.stm David
  22. The funny ones are here. http://www.despair.com/demotivation.html David
  23. I was there Saturday morning. There were a couple of helicopters buzzing around and plenty of people looking at the reinforcing that was left. Pity it fell off but it sounds like the governor is planning on building a replacement. David
  24. Not only are they experts in their fields but they've already started looking. Consider the background that they have of the people to look for the sites they thought were suspect but couldn't search. The US teams will be playing catch up when the experience is already available. David
  25. Well that's an interesting question. As a Brit in the US I get the US and UK version of events and I shy away from the US media in favor of the sources I grew up with. I prefer the style, language and honestly think there's less sensationalism. It's hard to say as I wade through the varying reports. I think that the next few years will tell if Iraq will even exist. Considering the way that Yugoslavia descended into civil war it's possible that Iraq could go the same way. The reports of Iraqi's wanting a state similar to Iran doesn't fit the western view of democracy so it will be interesting to see how the country develops. I've read warnings to Iran not to send in agents to influence such an event and Turkey could also throw the place for a loop. What would be bad is if all that has happened is that one regime has been swapped for another to come in the near future. David
