Absolutely! I spent enough time supporting USAREUR that I sure appreciated it when shippers knew how to handle APO. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

The shop we're using can take just about anything and turn it into good stuff. They made the TimmyD patch (see first post of this thread) from a jpg photo. 9 colours included in base price. Original is visible here http://timmyd.ca and http://aerialextreme.com/stock_photography/undercanopy.html (second page). On a side note, I suspect we met in Abbotsford once or twice. Maybe also if you were in the group that came down to Monterey and Hollister a couple times. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

You axed for it!!! (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

OK, you're down for 10. I'm working the stickers. Got a couple angles already, but waiting for a reply from the patch peeps to see if they can do both effectively. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

That's 195 requested so far... (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

In case the nickname wasn't clear enough for some, please see the attached... (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Apparently, there is no copyright issue with using Tux (the Linux penguin). The creator tells us to "Feel free to do whatever you see fit with the images, you are encouraged to integrate them into other designs that fit your need." http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/ (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Grolsch Heineken (considered minimum standard by some) Becks Depending on local tastes and breweries, microbrew is usually good. Around here, Gordon Biersch is a favourite (even though brown bottles). Non-green, but acceptable minimum to some Corona (I think it's crap, but lots o peeps around here seem to like it. YDVMV (Your DZ May Vary). Wendy Faulkner used to have a list, and even NCB#s (I think I'm 299) but the site seems to be gone. http://www.eco.utexas.edu/Homepages/Staff/Faulkner/skydive/beer_rules.html For those who don't drink, or are underage to purchase/consume, supplying a case of water and/or sodas during the day *is* an acceptable alternative. Many people don't know that. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

I think everyone loves your design - don't worry about that! We're just fine-tuning!o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

First, I think this is really great. Well done! Are there any other submissions? (I'll PM some specific people.) I really like Stevorino's caricature, but the informal count so far is overwhelmingly in favour of a Penguin motif. I agree with the comments on shading and detail. If you look at TimmyD's patch in my original post, while it has some shading, it's done with few colours. I'll ask them what they can do, but we may have to compromise on the shading. I think the base patch should be a single solid colour anyway. I also think we made need to stick to a simple font, but again, I'll see what the shop can do. I think we should go without the tongue, but that's just me. Re: The penguin. This looks like one of the Linux penguins. I have two concerns with that. First, copyright. It may not matter since the whole point of Linux is GPL, but is the Linux penguin actually in the public domain? Second, I don't think GFD's association with penguins (or desire not to) has anything to do with Linux, so maybe we should avoid that. Wildcard451 made a comment earlier that it would confuse the f*** out of people, so lets not have them thinking the wrong thing. However, I'm willing to concede on any of these points. I'd like to let the forum decide, with JankyBob having power of veto on the design. I also need him or GravityGirl to confirm canopy colours/sequence. Colours (assuming Conundrum's design) Purple - text Orange - Canopy Yellow - Canopy, Beak, Feet Red - Canopy, bandana Black - Penguin White - Lines(?), Penguin Pink - Boa Qty - Between posts, PMs and emails, I have specific requests for 174. Some requests said "some" or "a few" (I assumed 3 for those), so it's hard to be exact, and I hope the "bakers dozen crowd are serious! I'm thinking we do 300, so GravityGirl and others can sell locally. Size - 4" (same as Paul Cousins patch) Assuming 50% embroidered area (from the way the web sites describe it), 300x 4" patch, 7 colours $2.71 each with rush service (8 days) from Stadri's, or $1.31 (50%) or $1.45 (75%) each from PerfectPatches in 13 days. I think we want them to hand out at the memorial, so 13 days isn't fast enough. Stadri's includes 9 colours vs. PP gives 7, so maybe that gives more flexibility re: shading. I'd like to get any other submissions in pretty quick, do a poll Monday (unless there aren't any others), then order Tuesday. I think I'll send the current design for feedback and basis for firm price quote. I'll post how DZ.commers can order/pay once I have the pricing including shipping worked out. Oh, and I'm trying to do stickers at the same time. Bluer skies. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Good idea! Everyone keep posting their ideas, then maybe we take a poll on the ones that seem most popular. I'll take care of ordering once we come up with the design, and qty. My idea was pretty simple: Circular patch in the primary colour of her gear (black or blue?). Shannon Dean curved across the top in 1/4-1/2" letters. GFD through the middle, in big letters, or letters contoured to fit the curve of the space between the upper and lower letters. Her dates along the bottom (06/06/71 - 05/29/06) Not sure what colour to do the lettering in. She has purple and white on her rig. Possibly do the border in pink, like her boa (Do I have the dates right?) I'll play with this idea. Any suggestions on this or other ideas are certainly welcome. I saw the thread about commemorative closing pins for Shannon / GirlFallDown, and I think that's a really neat idea. I was wondering if anybody has given any thought to patches like we did for JohnnyLuv, TimmyD and Paul Cousins. I have some design ideas, if anybody is interested. They ended up costing $3-4 each, at the qty we bought. Maybe less since I'm betting there will be more interest from DZ.com. Maybe we sell them at a dollar or two profit, which goes to the shelter. Takers? (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Those controls are getting crowded. I'm shorting out more keyboards. >1/2 the posts I've made here in the past couple years are re: bad stuff. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

So, at this point, do we still send you money, or should we donate straight to the shelter? http://www.bestfriends.org/ (according to Bob's email to NCS) (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

One of my favourite success stories It's great not only to see your students stick with it and reach your level, but even better when they go even further. We watched him do some interesting things as he was learning. Ask him about Ronce Ponce and his pullout... Funny video! (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Is there somebody who went to the service who would care to post how it went, what was said, etc? Also, is there a memorial site in the works? Thanks Peter (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

I only met Kenny a couple times, one of those at their wedding. Like Gareth, I've known Karen since she started jumping. This is truly horrible, again. Karen: Melissa called me after you called her. Talking to Steph, words cannot begin to describe our feelings. For now, I just don't know what to say. Steph and I will send you an email. Kenny plays with TimmyD, JohnnyLuv, and all the rest of our departed friends now. If there is anything Steph, Kira and I can do, please ask. Peter (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

When I was S&TA (actually, I'd still do the same thing now that I'm not), and I was on a load and saw that, my reply would be. "You are grounded. If you land in the plane, it's for a whole weekend, starting now. If you jump, it's permanent." Pretty sure the local DZOs would back me up. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Combat crud, or no-contact? I played in Army Cadets, Militia and at RMC. The only jumpers I ever saw play were Canadian military. (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Anybody out there ever play crud? I'm a little surprused with all the traditions in this sport that originate with the military, that "Crud" has not crept in to after-sunset / bad weather / night on the town jumper activities... (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Edit: This should have been a PM. Peter (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Ummm... well, we already have symptoms of BCS (Big Company Syndrome) like VP creep (the number of VPs grows much faster than regular employees), excessive use of consultant companies, time tracking software, etc. so I'd like to keep that to a minimum! Tempting... (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Woohoo! Congrats! Jeff, now contact me so I can give you a job @NetApp and make your day even better! (Your email and cell don't seem to work!) Peter (>o|-< If you don't believe me, ask me.

Hating Newfies is not a Canadian trait. Making fun of them is. I mean, they have their own "half time zone". 10:00 in Nova Scotia = 10:30 in NFLD!!!! Hating Quebec, if you're not from there, is optional. If you are from Quebec, resenting the rest of the country is almost required. Back in 1995 when Quebec had the referendum, the Newfies thought it would be great for Quebec to leave Canada, since it would bring Toronto and NFLD closer together............
