  1. Welp, here's a fresh one from 5 minutes ago. Our receptionist is a total clean freak to the point where I'm suspecting actual OCD. Out of boredom and just because I'm an asshole, once I was done making lunch, I sprayed and wiped down the kitchen counter, removed one crumb from my plate and placed it on the counter. About 10 minutes later, I heard "OH MY GOD DISGUSTING" from the kitchen, and a few minutes after that a department-wide email went out complaining about it cavete terrae.
  2. Interesting. I suppose for someone who doesn't need to do team training and just needs 1 v 1 coaching, these newer, larger tunnels are a harder sell. Yes and no. I think if you compare the first generation (Orlando/Perris) 12 footers with the next generation recirculating 12-footers (SF Bay, NH, CO, UT) there's a noticeable difference in quality. But yeah, do you really need a 14 footer vs. a 12 footer for 1:1 training? Probably not. But if it's a choice between hitting the 14-footer in your backyard once a week (for a higher rate) where you can play with your local friends, or traveling to a 12-footer every so often for more intensive sessions, well, then you just have to figure out what works best for you and your goals. (And of course, do the math on whether better rates at a smaller tunnel offset the travel costs you'll add to go to one). Yeah for me currently it's a choice between: Fly to Sydney and use their tunnel at $1,600US/hr (hahah get fucked greedballs). Fly to the US, and pick between Hollywood, SF Bay, or Colorado. I've never flown any of them, but each has compelling arguments. …but once I move back to the US, I'll be in the midwest at first, almost equidistant between Colorado and Chicago. On-season I'd probably just organize a trip with my locals to SDC + tunnel, but off-season I see no compelling reason not to go to Colorado unless I were doing team training. cavete terrae.

  4. I wish more golden parachutes would end in a double mal, if you get my drift. cavete terrae.
  5. Any idea if that includes coaching? Also, what size tunnel is this going to be? cavete terrae.
  6. …and of the remaining 0.1%, most of them can be found in the Kerbal Space Program user database cavete terrae.
  7. According to my password manager I have 174 unique passwords in active use. The only one of them I know is the master password for said password manager. cavete terrae.
  8. I once called a government official a dickhead to his face, in front of my boss and entire department. Wasn't fired either, my boss never said a word about it. The government guy actually tried to be more courteous after that. Yeah there were no consequences for this, which I expected given the informal nature of the work and the client had just made a request he KNEW was insane. He laughed at my reply :) The worst I ever did with consequences would have been when I was dating a subordinate. I couldn't treat her better for obvious reasons and I decided that treating her the same would be hard so I just treated her worse than her coworkers. No consequences at work but boy did I hear about it after cavete terrae.
  9. Did we REALLY have to pick a word that is one letter removed from something else? cavete terrae.
  10. Kinda like all the people who have no idea whether there's a core demographic who doesn't know this answer, but are proud of themselves for blaming religious fundamentalists. There's plenty of ignorance to go around. So much so that we have no idea who the fuck doesn't know the answers, but boy are we all apt to act like we do. All the better to bask in our own ignorance to laugh at others. I'm not blaming you, grue. You lot in Australia have a tought enough time just hanging on to the earth so you don't fall off, it being upside down and all. Oh there's plenty I'm ignorant about, but I'm proud of none of it. Also dammit I've only been here 1/3 of my life cavete terrae.
  11. Didn't you mean to say they're for one of your there(s), or did you really want to say "there there". It's all too messed up if you ask me as we interpret two or more ways to skin a cat. LOL Haha yes, good catch. Fairly ironic that I'd flub that in the post, but thank you for pointing it out so I can fix it. cavete terrae.
  12. The religious fundies. I think it's pretty clear cut. They're doing "god's work" via the Texas Board of Education and its revisions of textbooks. We're essentially heading back into the dark ages with some of these folks. These guys, flat earthers, creationists. Strange that people seem to be getting less well educated over time People are starting to take pride in being ignorant. It's the same as the people who smile when they say "Oh I don't know how to use a computer". That's like not knowing how to cook yourself a meal: it's not cute, it's pathetic and you should be ashamed. Further, just like the computer analogy wherein everyone around them has to pull their weight, those of us on the right side of the bell curve have to work that much harder to compensate for the scientifically retarded segment of the population. Frankly I think that the educational system needs a bit of a revamp, because there's no way someone who thinks the sun goes around the earth or can't reliably differentiate between know/no, your/yore/you're, their/there/they're should be allowed to graduate from high school in the US/UK/AU, LET ALONE a fucking university. That's not even touching on the math side of things… cavete terrae.
  13. When I was working in film and TV postproduction, I once told a client to get a running start, do a flip and jump up his own ass. That's probably the worst. cavete terrae.
  14. I can tell you that of the rigs I pack at our DZ, most of them are 300s, one is a 285, and one is a 364. The 364 is very, very rarely grabbed by choice. cavete terrae.
  15. I'm told that WD40 fixes squeaks. cavete terrae.
  16. I'm 6'3" and 100kg, putting me in with 4 other people who are small and light might technically be safe, but it'd probably be more cozy than I'd be willing to put up with in my old age. cavete terrae.
  17. That's funny because my Key Lime Pie is the BEST in the universe!! http://heahea.org/img/389-Impossibru.jpg cavete terrae.

  19. I could totally serve that and she'd be happy, but I felt like being faaaaancy cavete terrae.
