  1. Do you have to choose 4 stocks, or can you pick fewer? What about warrants or options? Best bet would be to go for high volatility. This probably means really inexpensive stocks that have a history of moving all over the place. If they allow warrants or options, these will have higher vol than the underlying stocks. Good luck,
  2. Got it! Thanks. No link yet to invite other folks but I will keep checking.
  3. Yup, B&H is great. Profeel www.profeel.com/rebel.htm is also top notch. They have the Digital Rebel for $773.80 w. free shipping.
  4. Pretty funny stuff, from http://cicadaville.com/ QUICK FAQ's Here are some quick answers to frequently asked questions about the Cicada. Check back often because we update this section as our research matures. What do Cicadas eat? Human children are the primary source of nutrition for Cicadas. Are Cicadas poisonous? Yes, Cicadas have a deadly venom that is injected through a small bone like tube known as the "Cicada deadly venom tube". The venom can kill a human being instantly. In 1987, the last time the Cicadas emerged in the United States, over 7 million people died from Cicada injections. Many people escaped but most perished. How do Cicadas mate? The female cicada injects her eggs under the skin of a small human child. The cicada pupae then grow inside the child until they reach maturity. Unless you protect your children they may become host to thousands of deadly Cicada pupae. The government calls this Chicken Pox. See how to protect your children.
  5. Believe it or not, it is relevant. http://www.economist.com/displaystory.cfm?story_id=2647052]link to Economist article

  7. Do you wear freefly pants or a full suit? When I started doing tracking dives, I wore baggy freefly pants and a long sleeve shirt. Pics from that era show me tracking (quite fast) with my arms out at my sides, making a cross. When I went to a full jump suit, I noticed two changes: 1) I needed to "kick" my body into a tracking position more aggressively at the start (i.e. head a little low) 2) I no longer needed my arms out to the side to keep from going over onto my head.
  8. We tried this a week ago with a skydiver. He just kept getting closer to the wire to feel the shock. Even put it on his tongue for $20...
  9. Hi Nick, Johnny Luv was a fantastic human being, and is deeply missed. Several of the Nor. Cal. folks he used to jump with will be in Perris this weekend for a freefly tunnel camp. Come on by Saturday (we'll all be there for orientation at 8am) or Sunday and say hello. In the meantime, here are a couple links: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/norcal_skydiving/message/478 http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/norcal_skydiving/message/913 Best, Evan
  10. One inch tubular webbing makes for good handles. It is easier on hands than rope and you can knot it well (it holds a knot) for grip.
  11. I did my first 600 jumps on original Sabres, 170, 150, 135. They flew great and were super reliable. No particular problems with openings. One of the three had a pocket slider installed by the original owner but it opened too slowly for me and I took out the pocket. Really good canopies, all three of them. Evan
  12. PD143R at 1.5. Nice little surf on landing. Good response to control inputs. My main is loaded at 1.8 and I definitely like my reserve more conservative than my main. FWIW, when I bought my rig, my rigger (a master rigger) said he would not install a reserve loaded much above 1.5 for anyone. Even the DZO, who had been loaded higher, was sizing back up.
  13. from Freedom Jam. Thanks Amy for the pics.
  14. Yeah, I f#$%’d up . I set up downwind, with a moderate breeze blowing down the course. I hung out too long getting back up to the entry point and turned in way low. Attached is a still of the chow (should clearly have aborted) and one of another guy that round. FWIW, my normal swoop-way is asphalt. Never done anything like that here. Thanks to the Oregon folks who dried me out, loaned me gear and, most importantly, caught this on film.
  15. Any type of handle can get snagged. See photos (attached) from the September N. CA freefly bigway attempts. The jumper was wearing a rig with a soft reserve handle. His handle got jarred during the exit and deployed him out of the chunk. Also, last year one of the Guano guys managed to tag (and accidentally pull) the pillow cutaway of his teammate's rig during a dive. Neither knew until deployment time... There is no perfect "snag-proof" solution. I like my mini D-ring. Evan
  16. Hello Tandem Masters - If you could fund unlimited personal skydives, would you still do a lot of Tandems? If yes, why - what about Tandems keeps you going? Thanks!
  17. I just started using Vegas Video and found it super intuitive. Works for DV capture as well. You can download an eval version (doesn't save projecs) from http://www.sonicfoundry.com/download/step2.asp?DID=363 Expensive at list price but < $200 "new in box" on eBay.
