  1. bump Anyone doing patches? Apologies if I missed this in another thread. Evan
  2. I'm planning to drive out from SF (lower haight). I am happy to drive or could hitch a ride with someone else. Prefer not to drive out alone. PM me if you (or others) still need a ride, or if you have space in a car heading out. Evan
  3. And the Massachusetts Turnpike is the Turnpike or Mass Pike, no matter how many people write "I-90" on their maps.
  4. Ever ordered a Black and Tan in an Irish bar? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_Tans
  5. Pretty fast if you cut out the graphics. Cache is annoying, since it means I have to keep refreshing to see new posts. Overall works pretty well. Treo700p
  6. Hey, anything else you want me to set up for you Damn dirtdive wasn't even started yet...
  7. Definition: Power Break The time it takes to recharge the battery and drink a beer
  8. .. Step 2: sell ads .. Google's gross profit for 2005: $3.56 Billion This acquisition is like Cisco paying $7.4 Billion for *pre-revenue* Cerent a while back. Cisco used their channels to sell the product and got back the investment in a year.

I really like single malts, and a have a pretty good collection. I would love a gift of JW blue. It is the best known high end blended scotch whisky and it would be fun to compare it side-by-side to my favorite distillery releases. Just my $0.02 Evan
  10. I replied to one of his ads and never got a response.
  11. Hall Merlot (Napa) is really good, and not wimpy at all. $22-25 The other style of wine your son mentioned is Chianti. It is Italian, based on sangiovese grapes. An upscale version of Chianti is the "Super Tuscan" (also based on Sangiovese). These are big, tannic wines. If you want to browse, K&L wines has a lot of good info: http://www.klwines.com/domestic.asp Some of their stuff might be hard to find on the east coast, but can give you a bunch to look for. Good luck!
  12. Wendy, I lived in that part of town for 8 years. Guests who didn't stay with us often stayed at the "Lombard Motor Inn." Same block as the one you were looking at, probably cheaper, clean rooms, and also has parking. http://www.lombardmotorinn.com/ Ghiradelli Square is a few short blocks walk. Union St is popular (mostly boutique shops, some cafes) west of ~Laguna. Polk St has good cafes & cofeeshops. Great view if you hike up Francisco St (1100 block) east of Van Ness. Plus you'll be right by OJ Simpson's old high school. Feel free to PM when you are in town if you need suggestions... Evan
  13. Davis (Skydance) is close also. We currently have a slack-line set up and a group of pretty hard-core Yosemite climbers camping out with us. Come visit! Evan
  14. Our standard swoop lane (Davis) is asphalt, but is liberally sprinkled with gravel. It is a fantastic sliding surface, with gravel. Without gravel, the asphalt gets grabby / less friendly. You defintely want smooth-bottomed sneakers (Vans, Simple, etc. not running shoes). Thermals are an issue two ways. 1) you will have more lift over the road than you expect, 2) the transition between dirt and the road is usually home to a nice shear layer on hot days (turbulent). Not so much an issue with a fast crossbraced canopy but might be on a lightly loaded wing. Echo the point about power and telephone lines. Know where they are before the demo. Good luck!
  15. Any high quality printers that use less-expensive ink? Ink seems to cost as much as (or more than) the printer, if you use it a lot...

  17. Tourist day and happy-hour in SF, drunken late-nite debauchery in Berkeley? I might get dragged to Berkeley late, but if folks are in SF, come say hi! A good place for happy hour: http://sanfrancisco.citysearch.com/review/904075 (edited to add Toronado link)
  18. I have Friday parking and lodging available in the Lower Haight, a block from bars and restaurants. PM me if you are coming to town and need a host Friday day and/or night.
  19. No. It is a cowardly, selfish act that often shatters the lives of those around you. your life got much better, not everybodys does though i think sometimes there is something majestic about somebody committing suicide, something so glorius in it's purity. One final act of doing something for yourself, a way of taking control when you may have been out of control
  20. Not sure if MSF do transport but they might make a referral (info below). Also, you could contact the folks who run BASE trips to the cave of the swallows in Mexico. They have probably at least planned for this type of thing. http://aerialextreme.com/cb/leaders.html You can reach the U.S. offices of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) by any of the means listed below. 21. I second this. I inherited a biting cat with my SO and trained her not to bite by gently sticking my finger into her mouth each time she snapped. The cat absolutely hated it but the biting stopped.
