  1. It's Green New Deal-e-O-sa, not Deal-e-o-AR.

I just want to know more about the oranges.
  3. I did and to finish the sentence you cherry picked: "A team of climate experts who conducted a fast analysis of the late December 2017-early 2018 East Coast cold snap said they didn't find a link to Arctic temperature or sea ice conditions for that particular event, though the authors noted that their work was a quick analysis and not an in-depth modeling study. They did find that cold spells aren't as cold as they would be in a climate unaltered by greenhouse gases."
  4. Oh good god, I was trying to find a quick description of the fact that climate change has put the jet stream out of whack. No, polar vortexes don't now exist because of climate change, they are occurring more frequently because the jet stream is out of whack. During the winter it usually creates a barrier that holds cold air within the arctic circle. When it oscillates it pulls cold air out meaning more snow in the northern states and frequent polar vortexes. And I'm not sure what you're trying to say about arctic sea ice or temperatures.
  5. No, no, he's right... I just scanned the news and there's actually one outlet (CNN) that even mentions it on their front page. Full blown meltdown.
  6. This isn't exactly the most independent source but it's good enough for the color-by-numbers narrative: https://insideclimatenews.org/news/02022018/cold-weather-polar-vortex-jet-stream-explained-global-warming-arctic-ice-climate-change

I really said both campaigns as an extension of the story-line in my head that I think the FBI should not only be interested in catching the bad guys but protecting the good guys. This is all Monday morning quarterbacking but I'd like to think they could devise a way to provide the protection without tipping their hand, call it a briefing or something and send over a few corporate looking guys so sit down with specific people. That not only could give them insight (perhaps even access to their data stream) but also officially establish the campaign rules for conduct. Then 6 months later when Trump Jr has a sit-down with Russians they can say that he did so with full knowledge that he wasn't supposed to. Campaigns currently offer a unique route for foreign intel as they operate outside of the govt security sector but become more and more privy to secure information. I don't fault Trump Jr. for taking that meeting, he was a clueless civilian as far at gov't affairs go.

I will give one bit of the middle road is that it would've been slightly more proactive for the FBI to go to both campaigns and get them involved in ferreting out Russian influence. As it was they gave Trump's people enough rope to hang themselves.
  9. This is a familiar sentence structure; "(Thing that I don't agree with and isn't valid but can make the argument dismissable), got it." I have to ask, what aspect of the GND do you disagree with?
  10. I've found the "hide for 30 days" or permanently option to be a handy tool.
  11. NOBODY said that the "wiped out" "destroyed" "flooded" etc was going to happen in 2000, 2008, 2010 or whatever combination you want to pick. They said that if we don't reach the goal of X by that date then Y will happen at some point further down the road. We are currently on an irreversible path for several of those things the next question is what other irreversible things will occur, the final question is whether we will hit a tipping point that causes a global warming feedback loop of which we are incapable of reversing. On example of a current irreversible even is rising sea levels that will make many coastal communities uninhabitable or unusable. The US Navy is taking this into account in their construction of bases as they're inherently on the water and in zones where there is nothing we can do to reverse our effect on the climate.
  12. Yup, definitely back in conspiracy world.
  13. Looks like we're back in denier conspiracy world again.....
  14. Only if you think "debunked" means disagrees with. He was a critic of the motivations of those like Gore who he feels are only out to profiteer over hysteria and his various statements and interviews reflect that. He holds no professional accreditation (his degree 50 years ago was in journalism) in climate science having spent his career as a weather broadcaster, not a researcher.
  15. That's why we don't go to politicians for our advice on the environment. This is a pretty good writeup on what did and didn't happen and how several scientists criticized him for exaggerations. https://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/conservation/conservationists/inconvenient-truth-sequel-al-gore.htm
  16. I actually agree with this although I'm open to input. One side effect of our very public border debate is that we've broadcasted very clearly that people don't need to evade capture in order to enter the country. The intent of this was based upon an evaluation of how many we could process and handle and we've seen an enormous spike in this number. I think it's fair to revisit this issue and at the same time determine the where and why of these people as it pertains to our national interests within this hemisphere.

That's from Dana Milbank, WaPo: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/kirstjen-nielsens-attempt-to-suck-up-to-trump-ended-badly-it-always-does/2019/04/08/7d982baa-5a38-11e9-9625-01d48d50ef75_story.html
  18. This is one of those scenarios where your argument relies on someone actually having the argument back at you when they aren't. That basically how Jordan Peterson makes his living. It's fairly firmly established that the GND is a leftist pipe dream that nobody of substance is really getting behind. However, the concepts within it are useful as bargaining chips to get members of the Right to agree to more centrist measures. However, your list of things that haven't happened is both wrong and misleading in many aspects. Many of those things ARE happening or they ARE happening just not were you say they're happening or the fact that they're not happening isn't relevant. An example of each: Desertification - Happening in Australia, India and much of the Southern Hemisphere; Land Masses Lost Because of Sea Level Rise - Many areas on the Chesapeake, many in Florida, many in the Gulf Coast, many more around the world; Cost of Wind Power - The cost is actually less in many areas but it's true that it's not is some, that doesn't matter because while instantaneous cost is a factor, long term cost is more important and that is measured in what it will cost to reverse the effects of cheap and dirty power. Edit: By the way, this was pretty funny. I'm not familiar with the thing about Maldives being underwater but if you google "Maldives underwater" the results are primarily about an underwater hotel being opened there which I guess you could say is someone planning ahead(?).
  19. And the smaller component size of modern reactors makes them easier to isolate from the effects of the natural disasters at those properly located sites.

They don't even have to make it up anymore, Neilsen quite because she couldn't legally do what he wants so he wants someone who will do it anyway.
  21. Alright, finally got there. Here's the text on Pelosi, the only instance in the article: "But not Pelosi, the House minority leader. Even after it was clear that Trump was referring to gang members, the California Democrat still claimed the president had called “undocumented immigrants” animals, declaring at a news conference that his remarks “inhumane” and that “we’re all God’s children . . . Does he not believe in the spark of divinity, the dignity and worth of every person?”" It's clear that she was still speaking in the context of accusing Trump of calling "'...undocumented immigrant' animals". So again, can you cite an example of a Democrat speaking on behalf MS-13.?
  22. Probably, although the number is like 10 and I don't even remember the last time I successfully read one. Anyway, found a workaround: https://ittutorials.net/computer-repair/optimization/how-to-easily-bypass-the-new-york-times-washington-post-pay-wall/
  23. Do me a favor and paste it, I don't have a WaPo subscription. Ironically, got sick of their constant Trump stories.
