  1. There's simply no ROI for this. You're talking about 3.6 million unmotivated teenagers yearly who need to be transported, housed, and fed just for them to dick around for a year before moving on to their actual goals. As for national service being mandatory for citizenship, that flies in the face of the very reason we fought for our independence. National service via the free market and free will is no less "American" that going into the military, there is much more to our culture than warfare or even government service.
  2. So to be clear (for the 10th time asking this question), do you think that NOAA is a reputable source for issues regarding climate change?

I was thinking the same thing. The XNumber singed letter thing is a pretty dull blade and borders on group-think. A bunch of retirees signing something is on par with a warning from you HOA.
  4. Yes, actually except you're free to say what you want about it and gripe all you want. During the next election cycle you can do your part to change the things you want and get involved as much as you can. I think you know that our subject matter, a catalytic converter, is a necessary pollution control measure (although a poor example of the point you're trying to make).
  5. But you also can't paint this as if a government agency isn't by the people for the people. Edit: and to continue... "Don't take my freedoms or my choices away from me, and we will get along just fine." That's the meat of it and it's been covered above, if we, as a group decide on something it becomes "We" even if you don't like it. We all want things to be cheap but Me individually doesn't want to be the only one paying for the thing that won't work unless everyone is on board.
  6. We ARE the EPA. This is OUR government. We give them the power to make rules for our benefit.
  7. We DID have a choice and we decided we wanted them.

Can you name the faulty information? You keep using the singular tense and now you've said it was anonymous sources and faulty. There was an entire book of information used to obtain the FISA, are you saying that it was all from one single anonymous source? I'm going to guess this is another question you can't answer hope will get lost long enough for you to forget before saying the exact same thing two pages from now.
  9. They started the race to the bottom and now they're mad they got there. They don't even make enough to pay for the quality level of cars that they're required to use.
  10. I don't have a bit of sympathy for anyone involved in Lyft or Uber. The gig economy put the taxi business entirely out on the street and now they're griping because they don't get paid enough for it to be a real income.
  11. I don't doubt that will happen. The reason that keeps coming to mind is that people who switch back and forth between self driving and manually controlled vehicles will simply forget that they're not in a self driving car.

Prove it. First, explain what it takes to get a FISA and next explain how anonymous sources were what got it.
  13. Were they going to shoot the armored vehicle and stop that from happening? Edit: Besides, there are already people in the US driving their cars into protesters and we are legally allowed to be armed.
  14. I mean...they never heard of putting cards in the spokes?
  15. You're talking about bio fuels, I assume. Their economic benefit has just about closed the gap but it definitely occurs once fossil fuels become too scarce. There will always be things that need to run off of an internal combustion engine and those will be in a very specific niche. As an aside, could you imagine a NASCAR race using electric cars? Talk about emasculation.
  16. Yet another logical fallacy. Correct, we don't mind the travel, we mind the landings.

So, nope you can't admit it. Mic Drop. Boom goes the dynamite.
  18. Or we could use the much less expensive renewable energy sources we've created and hold onto those consumables for when it's economically advantageous to use them. That's a reason that has answered the inherent question posed by your second statement and doesn't even mandate attempting the GND. Simply put, we should just do the thing that is becoming more economically feasible both in the short and long term.
  19. Those making statements that are not based upon scientifically verified information.
  20. Are we trying to figure out who's lunatic fringe has the biggest penis?

And thanks to things like Planned Parenthood that rate is declining. https://www.usnews.com/news/data-mine/articles/2018-03-21/abortion-rates-where-and-why-theyre-falling https://www.guttmacher.org/news-release/2017/us-abortion-rate-continues-decline-hits-historic-low
  22. Ok, if you're still alive we'll see what you say when the roving hordes of climate refugees are attacking our borders.
  23. There are aspects of this that will certainly take money out of people's pockets. Think about the fire on the Cuyahoga. Yes, it costs money to not simply dump your waste into a river. Also think about almost every commercial fishing regulation, in many of those cases we were headed towards the entire fishery collapsing. The flip side of that is that if you're concerned with people coming into the country from 3rd world shitholes now just wait until you see what happens when a cycle or two of crop failures roll through Central America. I hear you but that's actually an example of everyone agreeing on a long term issue. It cost people money but we solved it before it came back to harm us. Except that every knew scientist (singular human) going into the field would also have to cook the books. There is absolutely no way for all of the global independent research in the world to be able do such a thing.
  24. I'm not sure what body of claims you're referring to but the spectrum starts with scientific data and recommendations on one end and people who only read Mother Jones on the other. I see where you'd take what the GND wants to do as an exaggeration of what we need to do but that's just a discussion of bargaining position. The body of research that has been peer reviewed and independently verified may not be perfect but it's far from dishonest and false (I don't think you're saying that, just clarifying my words out loud).
