Galt designed the generator, Reardon was the steel guy. What's interesting about the interpretation of that book is that everyone who sees it as a dogma of conservatism wants to reference ONLY the aspects of a government thwarting innovation (as if that means all government involvement is bad) and not government supporting and funding innovation. Remember, all of this stuff stays on the free market. Sure, you'll have a county owned installation here and there but that's it. The three characters (Galt, Danneskjold and d'Anconia) were equally students of science AND philosophy. They weren't looking for an economocracy, in fact the world they created in the gulch supported each other's innovations. I wonder what they would say to how politicians try to prop up the coal industry or stop innovation in the renewables sector. Or how about how industries don't think they should be on the hook for environmental issues and instead think it's the role of society to accept that as a part of them providing for the greater good. I doubt they would sit there looking at a destroyed ecosystem saying, "It couldn't be helped, not our fault, we're not to blame."

You said the costs pale in comparison. The cost is what we need to do in order to reverse the effect that using fossil fuels has on the environment. This is a price that you've stated time and time again that you're unwilling to pay. -

If you're unwilling to bear the cost of combating global warming then you're lying by making that statement as you're admitting that the cost is greater than the benefit. -
It IS happening, there is proof all over the arctic circle that's it's happening. In addition, the feedback phrase doesn't only refer to CO2 but to other greenhouse gasses and the fact that the Arctic Ocean will absorb heat without the sea ice over it to reflect the light. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/03/190321092226.htm

We're really talking about a feedback loop but I agree. Compounding would be a feedback loop but a feedback loop doesn't necessarily mean compounding. A feedback loop could be compounding (run-away system), self sustaining or decreasing. What people mean by the feed-back loop isn't the effect of CO2 as a greenhouse gas but that even if we eliminate all of our own sources that the CO2 released from melted permafrost and the loss of albedo from lost sea ice will cause global warming to continue.

Give Gowdy a break, ever since leaving Hogwart's he's been on the defensive.

So what you're saying is that two guys who tried to funnel a Russian donor's money into Trump's campaign have been arrested and are now being represented by Trump's lawyer. I'm just gonna grab some popcorn.

Unfortunately, that's also an understatement of how well an unrestricted economy works and Adam Smith can go fuck Ayn Rand in the ass. To provide you with your own arguement, I (and most of the global population) needs a gas fueled car to get work (that's your fossil fuel bridge). The gross majority of the planet cannot and will not move to EVs without a combination of incentives and regulation. We KNOW that those people will pay less for fuel once the transition is made but people will always use the cheapest or most profitable thing in front of them until the well is dry. That's why we with brains on our shoulders plan ahead and make the move before using the cheapest thing paints us into a corner. If we went with what Adam Smith said we'd still have $10 sneakers and jeans made by child labor, we'd still have rivers that caught on fire, we'd have cities full of smog, slavery... all of those things were OK in the world of Adam Smith, John Locke and their mantras of economic liberalism. -

You speak as if there's not other way to economically support ourselves through the costs associated with closing the fossil fuel market besides burning fossil fuels. That's simply not how national and global economics work because fossil fuels are not the only market out there supporting the national global economy. AND renewables stand on their own profitability. -

Yet you consistently ignore any concept of our products improving so that they are cheaper to make, cheaper to use and produce fewer issues in the long run. You are willfully ignorant. -
Amen. The joke is that if Trump doesn't get impeached the Democrats will actually have to get one of these people elected. I don't have much faith in any of the candidates to win and that has little to do with whether I agree with them although I'm having trouble getting behind any of the three front runners. The candidate needs to be able to win, that is the most important ability that a good Presidential candidate must have or else they will NEVER be a good President.

Plate and enthalpy wheel heat exchanges can and are used in Hospitals. Desiccant wheels can transfer contaminants between the exhaust and entering air but there are other enthalpy wheel heat exchangers that don't. That must have been pretty expensive. It's no wonder we had so much work renovating hospital systems.

No, they don't, the system brings in more outdoor air and exhausts more indoor air, sometimes with the use of an energy recovery ventilator. There's no "scrubber", it's a system of dampers on the inlet and return/exhaust ductwork or internal to the HVAC unit. I know this because I designed those systems for about 10 years. It's really not that complex of an issue and I'm not sure why you feel there's a conspiracy but those systems do operate that way. And yes, I'm familiar with the idea of unscrupulous building owners disabling a building automation system. It's a dumb idea that in a modern system doesn't save them much money and during certain times of the year actually wastes money.

I actually had a serious response written out but decided to be an asshole instead. The 1981-2000 set of temps is used as a benchmark and it doesn't matter why, it's just a point to use for comparison. Some publications use the 20th century average. That doesn't have anything to do with an overall record, the graphic says nothing of the sort, it's just showing the difference between Sept 2019 data compared to that average. Kallend states "September 2019 tied the record for the hottest September ever globally, and broke the record for the hottest in a non El Niño year." I don't know where he got that info from, I always use NOAA data but they publish in land and sea temps and that has shown slightly lower temps because sea temperatures lag a bit more and are affected by ice melting. Land air temps is kind of like recordings in your oven as you turn the heat up and down, sea temps is what you see inside the turkey. Today at 11AM NOAA publishes its updated state of the climate info for the last month: https://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/ See the NOAA article regarding comparisons since 1900, they use the 1981-2000 data point in the graph about halfway down the page. https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-global-temperature -

You are correct, someone has massaged the data. They formulated an average and stated a difference between a current set of data and that average. That's what sneaky liberals do to pull the wool over your eyes. Here's a liberal explaining math. Note how she smiles and is a woman. That's how you know she's a lying liberal. Also, she's showing her shoulders so she's probably trying to seduce you so you vote for her husband the Kenyan. Here's another liberal, note the funny accent, that means she's a socialist. Notice how she uses lots of words and numbers, that's also known as "massaging the data". -

Digital altimeter or Audible altimeter 1st?
DJL replied to Rsaaronson's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
First priority is a visual altimeter. As for your turns, you should think of it as a range in which you turn, not an exact number but yes you want your visual altimeter to be accurate so that your range is accurate.
