  1. Sounds good, my power bill varies by $40 each cycle so that's within my means.

I understand what you're talking about but this is what he's talking about: Turkey, Russia Reach Deal To Control Syrian Areas Once Patrolled By The U.S. https://www.npr.org/2019/10/22/772387023/turkey-russia-reach-deal-to-control-syrian-areas-once-patrolled-by-the-u-s

    WWIII???

Ok....anyone know where I can find the anti-venom for a Gaboon Pit Viper. Again, asking for a friend.
  4. I wonder if we're the only country thinking about this. You'd think some other country would be the butt of the joke first that they can't even allow their citizens behind the wheel without make sure they're not drunk.

    WWIII???

So does that mean I don't need to kill a human to leave the church? And to clarify, I'll need to know this before sunset today. Asking for a friend.

You're not the authority on what it is to have a relationship with Christ and what it is to be a Christian. What you're describing as a "born again experience" is in your world and in your brain, I've never heard someone describe such an event as you do and do not think it has anything to do with an assessment someone's devotion. I did not "simply attend church and participate in church activities". So to answer your question, no I didn't have a acid trip when I decided to follow Christ and the teachings in the Bible.

    WWIII???

Since I'm the person who is the subject of this conversation regarding how I went from a rather Agnostic upbringing to becoming a Christian and believing in Christ and the religion of Christianity and then ultimately leaving it when I grew older I can assure you that I did not kill any children and swear myself to Satan in order to leave the Christian faith.

    WWIII???

If by child you mean "Kid" and it involved seasoning and shis kabob skewers then Yes, I have sworn my soul to Satan.
  9. I don't like mandatory safety items that drive up the cost but I have a hard time disputing this one considering what we put into drunk driving prevention and accident fallout. But I think we'll have an issue with drivers being OK with sticking their mouth on some tube every time they get into a car. Gotta imagine there will be a sterile "thing" for rentals, shared cars, etc. Or is it just an apparatus you blow towards and not into? Solvable problem.
  10. He's not even trying to hide it anymore. The next thing you know we'll see things like his family members getting Trump brand deals done or real-estate purchases complete with shady timing or on trips conducted at taxpayer expense.

Can you tell me a bit more about the ritual for swearing allegiance to Satan? I want to make sure I'm doing it right but don't believe that was part of the process of excluding religion from my life. Does it look something like this:

It was a Southern Baptist camp so yes, the Madonna/Whore complex in full swing. Sadly, this is where I was indoctrinated into Born-Again Christianity. I recovered at some point during college.

Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? I'm ok inventing replacements for institutions that don't make people feel guilty. I went to a Summer camp that showed us a video about how men should only date girls who had not had sex because they had the "The Glow". The message was "Go for The Glow". It was years later when I realized that the message was also that a girl who had had sex is less worthy and should live in unwed shame. Fuck that place.

So then replying to all three of you I guess I should say that religion CAN be a good foundation of morality and culture. There is nothing you can't accomplish just by raising your children right in a secular world but for many people a church is the center of their family and community. I went to a non-denominational non-theistic church when I was younger (I believe it would now be called a Unitarian Universalist church), I recall more readings from secular authors than I did anything relating to Christianity. There was NEVER prayer in the sense of bowing your head and hoping an invisible magic man was there because there was never any message saying that you were supposed to believe in the magic man, much less pledge your soul at penalty of hellfire.

    WWIII???

Yup. Read it twice and studied it thoroughly in bible studies, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life, etc. My conclusion is that it doesn't hold up to scrutiny. There are great lessons on morality in there but it's better to take those lessons and live with them than to use that book as instructions for how to live your life. Christ never lived and most of the text is Bronze Age storytelling. It's no wonder that religion thrives with people who do not read its text. Edit: That said, I do think religion is a good foundation for morality and culture.
  16. How so? What did he do? Or are you talking about the opposition of fracking and pipelines? That's a different story, more like How we do it rather than If. Edit: Looks like that was addressed above.
  17. Ironically, that describes my belief in God and Christ.

    WWIII???

Bingo. I didn't want to get too elaborate in my response but Russia would love a sympathetic neighbor on the Southern Shore of the Black Sea. It makes their work so much easier without a NATO slatwart eyeballing their movements.
  19. Obama did the same thing and it was called the Obama Apology Tour. I think it's kind of a school yard thing and I'm not saying that we shouldn't correct Trump's actions. We shouldn't be afraid to right wrongs just because the right wingers will say something dumb about it.
  20. They'll call that an apology tour. I say let's just get down to business.
  21. The 1997 HTML look. That code from GeoCities must be cached somewhere.
  22. Both front runners have an economic message of stability and Warren has a goal and proven track record of managing regulations to promote competition. Both are also not fans of the trade wars that have been hampering the global economy. Or there's Trump the wildcard. The tech industry (seeing more and more control by a few players) likes Warren and since the US is a service innovation economy that's a pretty big swing in her favor.

    WWIII???

Russia isn't interested in invading Turkey, they're interested in Turkey losing interest in NATO and becoming more accommodating to Russian. Turkey is a NATO faction between them and their interests in the Middle East and the Med who just received Russia's missile defense system, there's no way they'd let Syria invade.
