I'm sure you could google calcs for figuring out tangential velocity but you'd have to make a lot of assumptions about the radius of the circle and angular velocity. The advice you're hearing here is not accurate. Talk with the contractor and manufacturer of the septic tank. They should be able to provide you with a system that can take ground up waste but it needs to be specified that way. Edit: I just talked with one of my office's Plumbing Engineers. The main restriction comes when there is a drain field connected to it. But still a disposal can be attached. They're missing something in the explaination. It's not as if he got to the dead seal by pushing on the rope but I'm not surprised he didn't have a paddle for what he was doing. It's just more weight he has to haul and he could probably use something else.
