Authorized search of your bags by a theater? Question for you lawyers and cops
DJL replied to DJL's topic in Speakers Corner
This http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090525/cinema_lawsuit_090525/20090525?hub=Canada occurred at a theater in Canada. The result was that the establishment had to tell you about the search before you bought a ticket. So, two questions, who the fuck is going to go through this just to see an overpriced movie with overpriced food. Next, isn't there some law in place limiting who can search your personal property. I don't think the warning is good enough. If a business wants to search then they should have to prove that there is a plausible threat that concealed items can be used illegally, must show that there is no other way to prevent this illegal activity from occurring, and they must be trained to conduct the search. When you go to museums some will search your bag and some have a bag-check. Hell, even a lot of strip clubs have a cell-phone check. But I've NEVER seen a search conducted by some ticket taker working minimum wage. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
I have long browsed the Thrift Store racks for a Wolf Howling at the Moon T-shirt but I guess they go quick. Or maybe they're just the kind of shirt you can never part with until it's in the oil spill pile underneath your shitty car. I'm often tempted to ask the WalMart patrons where they got theirs but I can't get past the expression of "Yuppie Faggot" on their faces when they look at me. But now...THREE Wolves. Holy SHIT! I'm in. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

If someone were holding a weekly gathering at their house that caused parking problems and then we'd be talking about the same thing. But nobody here is confusing a gathering of a few people regardless of the purpose vs. something that causes problems with the neighbors. Anyone who meets on a regular basis to watch the Chargers play baseball is an imbecile. Ouch - how embarrassing this must be for John. From a Frenchie, no less. In the context of the thread, it still would have been humorous had he asked instead, "What about people who are meeting to watch baseball games on a regular basis and support the Padres?" The results would be the same; lots of praying. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

how are they related? Didn't vote in either. Insufficient information on this one. You have to also gauge that polls on this website are usually off quite a bit because of people fucking around. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

That was my first thought. There CAN be a gray area if this guy is filling his house and yard to capacity and conducting sermons but I doubt that's the case. This is more like a coach having his team over for soda and burgers so they can watch a game tape. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I'm never surprised so see such ambivalence on this issue. It's because people want to call these people monsters, mark it in stone, and then be able to say, "That's why this won't happen to me." I'm sorry to say that most of us just happen to be able to identify ourselves with the other side of the WWII conflict and therefore there was only a historical separation from who we are and a geographical separation from who our grandparents were. Basically, we just happened to have not been a German 22 year-old station at a prisoner camp durring World War II. That's the ONLY reason that when we look back on history that those picture are not of you and me and the only reason we did not do those things. The only way this will not happen again is for you to understand that YOU AND I are capable of being monsters. It's inside of you. That ability is there. Once you understand this problem with yourself THEN you can start to say that you will not do something like this. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

NO SHIT! I went there once this year and my most previous boarding had been at Big Sky Montana during one of the best weeks in their history and tickets were about $60/day. I'm convinced that Snow charges that much just to thin the crowds. Yeah, I've seen a bit of resistance on the secrets but it's mostly because you have to be worried about the favorite holes getting crowded. I definitely understand that since because the place where I icefish was completely depleted by the end of the season. It came to a point that I did a full week plus an overnight and hardly caught squat. That's when I hung it up to wait for open water. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I actually did understand that he was offering some sticky but it was funny to hear it called tree. Yeah, there's definitely every sort around Brat; and it was mostly the good-ole-boys on the ice. Pretty welcoming group. I showed up not knowing shit and everyone got me set up with gear showed me how to do it. I ended up hardly even snowboarding since I was ice fishing all the time. Also getting directions is a bitch. I asked this old coot if the road I was on goes to Penobscot. He says back, "Eventually." "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Well, it's a little late coming but the other thread inspired the question. My first question is, how can you ethically sell barbecue with that molasses sauce crap all over it and then charge extra for slaw? That's like charging extra for the bun and plate. Also, I was out ice fishing and these dudes kept asking if I wanted some "tree". What the F is "tree"? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Exactly. I'm disturbed by how stupid they are. Wow, I was even thinking of going to school there. Thank goodness I went to a more open-minded place like Virginia Military Institute. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I think my Solitaire game became self aware. I happen to be at my job at NORAD where we have great computers. I'll upload it and see if I can get the mainframe to work through it. Just have to disable few red tape security measures and....there we go. What's this? I was prompted "Shall we play a game?" Whatever, time to go home. This is not PS'd. Someone tell me what's wrong with this picture. I was just playing and for some reason the 2S wouldn't auto-stack. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Barbecue comes with slaw, it's not an extra. Also you ruin a good barbecue with that nasty molassas sauce. I live in Vermont now and am finding that these truths are not universal. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

So all BS aside is there someone close to Slyde making sure he's doing alright? Or is this completely a CrazyThomas. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I disagree. There are already too many politicians who are too afraid to do the right thing because in the short term it's not popular to the mob. If the only thing that matters is two election cycles then we'll have a bunch of rookies doing nothing but making short term gain election promises. So taking the grain of salt into account, what are the essential elements that occurred and do you think it's acceptable? "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
