Before you pull it out, download a copy of the owner's manual from this here hazy place called the webernet or some such. That way when you have it out you will know what you are looking at. You know what it looked like 3 or 8 years ago when you put it in, and probably, the manual is available now. Oh, and if it turns out to be something you still can't figure out, you will save yourself a pretty penny, because of the labor of pulling and replacing it (so the repairman doesn't charge you for that bit of labor) Check in the back of the space and see if what you are smelling is the manual burning. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Old Timers, How many sport static lines did you make?
oldwomanc6 replied to captain1976's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
When you say "classic" do you mean 550 cord with the guts pulled out? Or 5/8" binding tape (which was easier on the hands)? I ordered one of the first Racers in So.Cal. and almost immediately converted it to leg strap. I just begged some scraps of parapack, took it home and converted it(velcro was widely available). A little PVC pipe to take the place of the "pud", a longer bridle and good to go. Never had a problem with the mod. Maybe a little ignorance is bliss? lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9 -
Old Timers, How many sport static lines did you make?

I've been waiting all week to post this. It may be the end of the world as we know it, but, 21 May, 2011 is the 33rd anniversary of my first jump ('78). It was out of a DC3 in Elsinore. It was also my first airplane ride! I had quite a few takeoffs before any landings. I made 6 s/l jumps. My first FF was a hard pull (how many of us thought that, and how many really did have a hard pull at that point?) Things went well until my 11th jump when I had my first mal, but that story belongs in another thread on another day. lisa p.s. anyone remember the coolness you felt when you could walk around with the rented ripcord? Or when you could proudly walk around with your pull-up cord firmly attached to a belt loop? lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9 -

When I read the thread title, I thought "That's silly, most people grow out of the fear of the toilet by about the age of 3." Now, after reading about it, I think I'd be a little freaked, too! What happens if you just unplug it? lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Mine is very crackly, and for some weird reason is too small for my head. Mine is too...we must have gotten big heads with all the experience! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Hi Lisa, I believe about the time the cadaver arm came up out of the pea pit with the ripcord in its' hand back in the day at the Gulch. 'Couldn't have been much before then??? Bill, Mine's real French, are there many still existing out there? lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

But as the Biblical account has him already out of the tomb at dawn when the ladies arrived isn't it more likely that he was gone during the night of the second day? He may have even left the tomb Friday night or during the day on that Sabbath as no one would approach/ inspect the grave on the Sabbath. Peace, Jim B Who cares? Jews count a day from sunset to sunset, not as we do, so dead on Friday (day 1). Friday at sunset a new day starts (day 2). Saturday at sunset starts a new day (day 3). So, even if Jesus rose on Saturday night it would be the 3rd day. lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

That may not fly in court, but in 1985 I saw with my own two little eyes, a car coming down a (steep) hill with left curve. Many cars at the bottom at the light. Low and behold, much smoke, screeching of brakes/tires. I looked up and saw a man wearing shorts and no shirt (not relevant, just one of those moments trapped in time) cartwheeling through the air over the embankment. The car followed him. Given the trajectory, I find it hard to believe the car didn't land on him, but even if it didn't, the catapult and abrupt deceleration surely killed him. I thought skydivers got that basic fact. lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

If you wanted to know my line of work, all you had to do was ask. Instead, you made something up based on your erroneous perception. This fits your modus operandi perfectly. Because being called on it doesn't help you divert the conversation in your intended direction, you throw a hissy fit like a little girl and stomp off. Typical. Feel free to admit you were wrong and take back some of your credibility. I'm kind of new here and don't know what your line of work is, so I can't make any assumptions as to the lucre. Please edify. Thanks, lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

The generational explanation certainly applies in my case. My dad started installing seatbelts in his cars in the '50s. I remember in the mid-'60s he bought a Ford Falcon with the understanding that when he came to sign the paperwork and take possession of the car, it would have the seatbelts installed. The family got to the dealership, and the seatbelts were nowhere in sight. Dad refused to take the car until they were put in. I don't know why (at that time) he was so adamant, but maybe the fact he was an aircraft engineer had something to do with it. We were never allowed to ride without them fastened, and I have only ever once ridden w/o them. I was driving my convertible in a parade, and the whole time it was slightly uncomfortable, even though I knew I was perfectly safe lisa BTW my grown kids always use them. Habits are a powerful thing

If He wasn't dying quickly enough, they break legs. The stabbing was just to see if he was dead ( blood and water indicates the blood is separated due to lack of circulation= dead, which at the time was the definitive way of determining so) lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
