Riddle me this riggerman~ ~If you don't/can't cutaway a static-lined round...is a pilot-chute in the reserve a good idea? Well, on jump #11, I had a AA bra-sized Mae West line-over. A no pilot chute reserve, but then again, no way to cut away. Spinning rather noticeably. Pull, and reach in, grab, and throw in the direction of the spin, pray, and then breathe a sigh of relief. Get down and then puke. All I can say is: It Worked.

Crystal radio. Hooked up to a chain-wire fence. No batteries required, but you had to build it yourself. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Tonka Trucks! Now, I'm not talking about the sissy-ass plastic versions that are passing themselves off as Tonka. I'm referring to the real, metal ones that we used to send off down the hill with a cherry bomb on board. They were solid enough to withstand the explosion, and be retrieved to be abused again and again..... Holy crap, our parents let us do some stupid stuff! lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Maybe a simple note stating that I owe her a tandem and that if she wants she can transfer it to someone else? Quote The note idea is a great one. Maybe expand it to make it transferable to an activity that she has always wanted to try, if skydiving doesn't appeal

My dad used to load his own ammo, too. My sibs and I used to play with molten lead on a regular basis. All of which was unsupervised, too! Soldiers, bullets, toy cars, etc... None of us got hurt either, beyond a minor drip of lead on a finger which we just shook off. I do remember a neighbor kid getting a pretty nasty burn from an Easy Bake Oven. Those light bulbs were pretty unforgiving edit to add: Every time we would stop for gas, one of us would be tasked with the job of getting out and scouring the gas station for lead tire weights that had fallen off vehicles. The reward was first melting rights. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

WTF is THAT? 2005 Chevy SSR. It's basically a Corvette with a hardtop convertible truck body.

It's a rattle snake. At one point early in US history it was an iconic animal representing the colonies. This particular representation appears on the Gadsden Flag, sometimes known as the "Don't Tread On Me" flag. It surprises me that you wouldn't know that. See post #67 lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

Quade, I can't prove squat. That is because you-all hold all the cards. But, I have seen posts on here that the mods have deleted (obviously before the mods read them). I read more than I post. It seems to me that is is usually one of a few ways: 1) Nasty, name-calling, 2) being a complete a-hole, or 3) Making a too cogent point in a direction a mod didn't approve. I can't speak to the banning issue, because I'm not in the know. It just seems to me that moderators shouldn't be part of the active conversation. If they participate in that way, it "elevates" them to bully statis. lisa lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

The comment (John's) was still valid: why do "Moderators" participate? Why can they post scathing editorials/rants with impunity? It seems to me that they cover themselves with the "veil of impartiality" when it suits and then say something that rivals darn near anyone they have ever shut down? lisa btw, not all moderators lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

That's okay. Its not like the secular world hasn't been way, way behind at times either. My favorite example is the OT command to wash your hands after touching something dead (as it was unclean) and modern medicine (19th cent) making fun of the idea saying, "You can't catch death!". These were the same people that would perform autopsies and then deliver babies right after (and wondered why mortality rate was so high to boot). And then, to top it off, when a guy got the bright idea to actually try washing hands and proved it was effective (death rates in mothers plummeted) , he was ostracized by his "enlightened" peers. Many rules from the bible (especially dietary and other health) have many real world reasons to be, and have been recognized by science. Before antibiotics were given to animals, beef/lamb was a "cleaner" meat than pork. Washing hands before and after meals was/still is a good idea. Quarantine for contagious diseases etc..... lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9

No. They generally die young and still stupid. Some of us make it to old.... and still stupid? Although, if you (we) make it to old, and are still stoopid, it must mean luck is on our side. lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB 9
