Judging by your name you are going to fit into the skydive community just fine. Enjoy the ride.

Continuing after A-License

Do it! -
Wow. Looks awesome. European tunnels seem to be more like cafe's and social areas where as Ifly in USA is just the tunnel with no other amenities. With that said Skyventure New Hampshire has an awesome wave pool and a cafe, but it is the exception.

AFF at the end of the month
Trafficdiver replied to omrig102's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
All you got to do is pull. It's actually harder to wipe your ass. You got this! -
How fast did you learn to pack parachute?
Trafficdiver replied to Sabrekakkonen's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Have you tried sweating on it and swearing at it? Helped me out. Just kidding I pay a packer to do that shit. -
Excellent. I'm from Boston but I go to the st Patrick's day boogie in Fitzgerald Ga every year. I love GA skydiver and the whole scene down there is great. I suggest you hit it up and jump your brains out!

A couple of my friends from zhills have already moved down there to work. Should be soon.

Just curious: how many jumps, how many cut-aways?

German 34yo male newbie :-) !!!
Trafficdiver replied to GermanSKY's topic in Introductions and Greets
You're allowed 7 questions in the Intro and Greet forum. So far you are at 0/7. Ask wisely... ....just kidding ask a million question but keep in mind this is the internet and you have no idea who is answering and whether they are idiots or not (Not saying idiots can't give good skydiving advice). Make sure your instructor is the final word in all of your basic questions. Now never do a tandem again and go get your license it is an incredible trip. -
Don't set goals such as getting your b license. Just set a goal of doing one jump and enjoying every second of preparation for that one jump. Each step of this sport is amazing and setting a goal of getting a certain license or doing a certain job can cause you to rush through the beautiful adventure that is AFF. Every jump is sacred.

Awesome! I'm hoping to hit Carolinafest this year I've heard it's awesome. If you get a chance go to the St Pattys day boogie in Fitzgerald GA. Trust me that once you get there you will understand why I suggest it. Have fun on your sky journey!

Already loving this sport and I'm just getting started.
Trafficdiver replied to Hyde's topic in Introductions and Greets
Advice # 1 . Stop doing tandems. Advice # 2 . Do whatever you can to do AFF and get your license. Sell your body, rob your whuffo friends. Cheat lie steal whatever just get your license because jumping with your friends is worth more than all the cash or material possessions you will ever have. Each jump just gets better and better. Advice # 3. The second job might be a better idea than robbing from your friends but I stick by selling your body. -
A newbie in love with the sky
Trafficdiver replied to Treehopper's topic in Introductions and Greets
Awesome man. I did most of my AFF jumps at Zhills and go back every year, it's a great spot. Just don't let those damn fire ants ruin your day . Oh yeah and tent city is more fun this year than any other year I can remember, which is t saying much cause I don't tend to remember much there after 6 PM in years past. -
Try an keep your elbows pointed down, you will get less lift in your upper body than if you have your elbows facing out.

26 jumps and about to jump a 1.2 wl fully elliptical!
Trafficdiver replied to HendrickVDecken's topic in Gear and Rigging
Would it make you feel better about the situation if you learned I have 3 hours in the tunnel? I'm stable during deployment. But I get what you're saying and I see how a poor body position could be more damaging on a Xfire versus a Nav (the student canopy I started on). What about when you have to land out in a field with fences or trees or a small back yard? How is that tunnel time going to help you. If everything goes perfect the Xfire might be fine. I landed off today. I was so happy I was on my Sabre2 150 and not my Katana 150....so happy. -
It was going to be a dwarf tunnel anyway so no big loss. Maybe this will open the door to another company who can put in a 14' or greater tunnel. Preferably walking distance from me.

Did you ever forget to turn your aad on?
Trafficdiver replied to Dontgetmad4fake's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yep a couple of times. Each time was the First load on Sunday morning of a boogie after having been partying hard the night before. As soon as I realized it was off the "go to sleep you fucking idiot" sign would go off in my brain and I'd sleep in my car for 5 hours. -
Brand new G3 coating peels off
Trafficdiver replied to SICness's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have two. Neither have any paint peeling issues. One was bought in late 2011 (the paint is shredded but that's from the tunnel net) and one was bought in late 2014 and it's still fine. I'd email them and let them know the new one has an issue. They have always gotten back to me quickly and they may not know they have a problem yet. -
It's amazing that you have enough time to worry about a country that you don't live in.

Hello from Maple Valley, Washington
Trafficdiver replied to FlyAddict's topic in Introductions and Greets
Goal 1 is great! Go for it. Take a deep breath before going for goal 2. Keep an open mind. You will learn so much about this sport between now and when you can jump with a camera that it may completely change your goals. If you set a goal that is so far out you tend to just get through jumps to make it to that goal. This is a mistake! Every jump is incredible. Have no long term goals...just enjoy each jump as it comes. One day, if all goes well, you will have tons of jumps under your belt and can do anything. You may find yourself drawn into wingsuiting or RW or FF or CRW long before you get to the point where you can camera fly. Which, for tandems...is probably over 500 jumps anyway. That being said good for you and welcome to the sport! It gets better every jump. -
Awesome. I have taken off in a hot air balloon twice and never landed in one. Sounds like you're on the right track in skydiving. Have fun! It get's better once you're not strapped to someone.

I call it the tube of infinite frustration. Keep going. You'll get better.

I just transferred from an SA2 150 to a KA 150 at 1250 jumps and a 1.6 WL and I quickly realized the KA is no joke (not that I thought it would be). From the moment I pitch it takes quite a bit more concentration to keep it from spinning up where as my SA2 was more forgiving. Then there's the rears which have much lower pressure. And now I know what ground hungry means. . Fun as hell but unless you're serious about canopy piloting I'd stay on the SA2 for a shit ton more jumps than you think...especially with your stated jump numbers. .
