  1. not sure what this proves, since DC has very restrictive gun laws & I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) has an outright ban on private handgun ownership. Hmm, so the major difference between DC and Singapore is avaliability of guns, and the punishment for it? It could highlight that it's not gun restriction, but the enforcement and punishment that causing the difference. About avaliability of guns.. If you really want to, you can smuggle it in from Thailand through Malaysia into Singapore in a car. Unless you're very unlucky, or the police is tipped off, it's doable. 2. I aim to please . Another way of looking at it, being experienced is more of a journey, then a destination. Could it be judged by how much you learn from each new experience? Kinda like how fast you're going along the road of experience. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  3. You're forgetting that Israel would probably get the first nukes in first. I agree about the Arab antisemitism, i don't know wether it's intrinsic to religion, or that people who are that devoted to religion just can't see things from other people's point of view, nor are open to discussion. I suppose it comes down to capability. IThe US have the capability to project force and land troops anywhere in the world. Iran, doesn't have the capability to invade, say Bolivia, if they want to. 4. First off, i don't hate the US, i just disagree with their current foreign policy. And going around thinking that anyone who doesn't wave the American flag hate's America isn't going to do you any good, there's is ground in the middle you know. Saying that people hate America because it the pop-culture of the movement is just trying to ignore the concerns that people have on the whole situation. Nobody is "the good guy", or the "bad guy", that's my opinion. It's all self interest. Call me a cynic... Eugene Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. 5. I concede on the outright ban on firearms. Personally, i'm for gun registeration, along with capital punishment for gun crimes. From the police force, in 2001 in Singapore, there's 32 murders, with a population of 4.3 million. For comparison, Washington D.C., has 35 murders with a population 0f about 500,000 in 2004. http://www.spf.gov.sg/publication/pla/02p04.htm http://www.singstat.gov.sg/ssn/feat/4Q94/feat.html Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. 6. Sorry, should have put a warining on it Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  7. Proactive? How does invading Iraq become a proactive measure to protect the United States? First reason that was given was because Iraq was harboring Al-Qaeda terrorists. When it became obvious that they weren't, it was change to WMD's. When those wasn't found, it was changes yet again to human right's abuses of Saddam Hussein, which leads straight back to whole Guantanamo Bay fiasaco. And before you start talking about the terrorists in Iraq at the moment, they went to Iraq after the invasion to fight the coalition forces there. The way i'm seeing things, there's a loose cannon without nuclear wareheads, and a loose cannon with 9,960 of them. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. 8. Clicky They're onto us... edited to add: WARNING!! Leads to Speakers Corner!!! Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  9. Don't think i'll get past the application stage.. I don't freefly yet, don't fly yet, never been the military, trying to ride a motorcycle would probably be suicide due to personal stupidity..I cycle though, and can fix furniture and hang pictures, does that count? Damn, another one over before it even started... Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  10. Anytime you want, but you're going to be very dissappointed. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  11. Only thing tha comes to mind is in Singapore, population 4 million, there's no gun crime to speak of. Private ownership of guns have been banned since the 1800's, and the using or attempting to use arms during a crime, such as a robbery, is a capital offence in Singapore.. Different culture i guess. Then again, the entire male population over 18 has served for 2.5 years in the military. "The Arms Offences Act[5] Any person who uses or attempts to use arms (Section 4) can face execution, as well as any person who uses or attempts to use arms to commit some scheduled offences (Section 4A)" Eugene edited to clear up some poor wording. 13. Umm....no. But you've inspired me to list HOT jobs: 1. Pilot boys 2. Military boys 3. Freefly boys when they're barefoot and have sexy feet (hey b-rad) 4. Construction workers 5. Guys on crotch rockets 6. Firemen So, what do you think of military pilots who rides motorcycles, freefly, decorate their own house and voulnteer as a fireman? 14. When you realise just how much you don't know? then I must be VERY experienced Well, experience is knowing things. If you know that you don't know something, that's still knowing about not knowing. So, if you don't know a lot of things, and know that you don't know, and you know that, you know a lot. Get it? 15. Did something similar. Was one of my concolidation jumps, just after i finished my AFF, so i was dispatched by an instructor. Went up, did what i was planning, and decided to track one way for a while, then the other way until pull time. When i got back down, the instructor asked me what i did for the logbook... I got "should be aware of line of flight of the aircraft, and should inform the jummpmaster of the planned track." I had no idea what the line of flight was, so i didn't know where i was tracking to. Scares me to think about it now. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."

  18. How full is your hard drives? I don't know about moving files from one drive to another, but i remember being told that you need 10% free to defrag the hard drive.. Or it could just be your other HDD is starting to pack up? Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  19. I think the water content in food counts towards the 8 glasses a day... I could be wrong though. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  20. I've read that book, studied it in literature class in school. Greed takes over him and everyone around him, and his life falls apart. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  21. Food for thought. Iran: possibly developing technologies that could be used to make a nuclear weapon. The Unites States: 9,960 nuclear warheads, of which 5,735 are operational. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
  22. Just thought about it, i wonder what the heat load is on SpaceShipOne? It's flying pretty much the same profile that the post is about, the re-retry is anyway. It goes straight up, up to 100Km, the FAI definaton of the edge of space, then back down again. Not much in the way of heat shield on SpaceShipOne as well, but it still gets quite hot i guess. Also, i reckon a part of the heat generated by the re-entering skydiver would be absorbed(?) by the air around him/her. But forget marshmellows, i'm bringing a pre-marinated chicken to roast, and some potato in foil in the pockets... Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. 23. Nuclear weapons are weapons of terror. I suppose they could have dropped it anywhere and get the same effect, just need people close by to see and report the result. I remember reading about American tests where they get soldiers to watch nukes go off in test, then make them walk through the area to see what the effects are. If it is decided to use a nuclear weapon, for the first time against a real target, it won't be too far a stretch to choose the target that allows bomb damage assestment. As an machine, i marvel at the design of nukes and how it works. As a weapon, i wished it'll never be used again. And as a political tool, i wish that there's never a reason to use it. 24. Say, from 50km, to 1km, roughly opening height, we got 49km to play aound with. Do you think it's possible to spreas the deeceleration evenly across 49km? And if so, just got to figure out if the heat generated is survivable, an the maximum deeceleration is surviavble too. Now, just got to find the drag coefficient of the object in question, and figure out how much heat is generated. Eugene "In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
