where exactly would you swipe your card at the titty bar? A magnetic strip in the ass crack? what if you're a breast-man? Tell her to push her boobies together then slide the card down her cleavage. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Illinois: Driving alternative fuel car may be a felony
nanook replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I think the issue is that the Revenue Dept is making it impossible for anybody to privately distribute their own fuel. the $2500 is the smaller problem: you still need at a bare minimum 30,000 gallon bulk store ect. ect. ect. They want a commercial vender to give you fuel only. Maybe it's the only way they can prevent an individual from getting away from paying a tax. Or they have absolutely no type of infastructure in place to receive a rare private tax payment. In that case, I don't think any govt will rewrite a complete different box or line in their accounting paperwork to include a barely used tax collection. It might cost more to keep an "eye" on that sector than to receive payment of tax on. Pure speculation here. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
Nononononono. . .that's the Storks fault. How dare they deliver and complicate this very important matter. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Easter has been around longer than the Christian observance. It's another solstice holiday that didn't have anything to do with Christ till the church decided to oberve his death on that date. Personally, I think both holidays can exist together and shouldn't be made as complicated as people make it. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

It seems like what's going on is: since they are not paying the "fees" (taxes) for using the public govt built roads, they are violating the law. even if they are not buying gas, they are still using the roads. (from what I understand on Farm fuel; you are using it on private/coporate property mostly, and rarely on public govt funded roads so it's not going to be taxed in that way.) If this is the case, then that story is a spin on the reality of what's going on. It's too bad Illinois laws are not alternative fuel friendly. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln -
I promise you this isn't the U.S. military. We don't control opinions or thoughts, we control responsibility and accountability. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Personally, I like billionaires. They have created millions of jobs, make cars, wines, cigars, libraries, huge tax sources, stores, resorts, airlines, banks. . . Why can't billionaires spend all those billions in one lifetime? Most spend billions in cost of doing buisness quarterly. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Okay, just so I can get on the right page. . .you are saying: The govt "contracts" out all aspects of health that involves any concrete entity (buildings, personnel, businesses) and processes only paperwork that involves the who, what, where and how much and contractual agreements? Or: Total govt ownership in all aspects healthcare at Tier One? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Here's where I am not getting it. If you go to a socialized health plan, how would it be cheaper than now? The new beaurocracy would consist of layers of filing, claims, processing for each city, county, state, federal sector, extra costs such as the cost of maintenance of all the buildings needed for each sections, the cost of paying people according to their GS-rating (you probably will need at least 2 to 3 million personnel overall), their insurance and full retirements with benefits that include Their TSP matching retirement programs , the cost of contracting out medical supplies, buying the supplies, and associated costs of requisitions on that side, govt vehicles that have to travel much further in fly-over states, retention programs for Doctors and Nurses (they will need them). The lists go on. I don't know how other countrys' beaurocracy works, but I know how ours works. There is only one way to structure if a program is on a purely appropriated income, such as the govt. Looking at your proposal, it's not a bad idea at all. The only problem I see is I think the total cost of the lower tier would be way more expensive than intended. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

I cannot agree to a slippery-slope of heading down the path to evilness as written here. In the 200 plus years of constant warring, we have always found a way to prevent this preversion. I am pretty sure one guy in office will not have the ability to convince a group of Generals formed by a couple hundreds years of tradition and service to walk that way. Don't forget that the Buck (economic impact) was one of the main-brace in previous wars. Namely WWI and II and Civil War. May happen way sooner than most think. The rest of the world does not need us too much anymore. That's actually may be good news for me. Once the other powers contribute more warships out there to keep the peace, I can be home more often. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Pre-emptive strikes can be considered defensive. What difference does it make, really? Defense vs. Aggressive stance can be assigned by both sides. It depends on how far back you want to take the chicken or the Egg-esque who-started-who argument. Whoops, Okay, you got me there. Huge mistake. It did "sink in". I think you may be hung up on words. Defense is just a word for Military. Just because something has a label on it doesn't make it any sort of mission. I seriously doubt that any realistic subdivision can be made for "Defense" and "Offense" This is not a Football Game. There is not offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator. No doubt about that. But health care is not an entitlement. More than likely, that money will go to education or land management/reclaimation, veteran Affairs, Raises, ect. ect.. . _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Even when Pearl Harbor got attacked we didn't have to start a pacific theatre. We could have said, "Sorry for disrupting your country, We'll leave you alone now." France allowed Germany to waltz right through. Nowadays, wars of "defense" are not the only type of war out there. Defending the Borders isn't the only way to protect a country. Economic stability is extremely important to a country. It's the foundation that allows it to exist. I don't think a "Blood for Oil" campaign is any less honorable than an old-fashioned yesteryear Nation Building war. You are still up-keeping the Country and keeping it in existance. Maybe ol' Jorge is doing things the wrong way. Maybe the conclusion will be one of the most important wars to have to happen. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Has there ever been a war that was not "optional"? Even the Revolutionary War and Civil Wars were optional. History has told that those wars were way more "optional" and disliked than this current one. I can't help you on the "NEED". It's a Fallacy. It's based on opinion. It can't be answered. There's no wrong answer. Present-going war rhetoric is useless until the resolution and fallout of the war has been completed. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Sounds like the way to fix it is to reform healthcare-related lawsuits rather than a change in infrastructure. I'm more for trying the easier way first. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

-we are at war -we war every 10 years -our interests are spread out over the globe more than most countries. -protecting other countries' borders/seaways gives us secondary (and sometimes primary) economic maintenance. -we are a lot bigger _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Another reason those other countries can provide the decent care is also because of their smallness and nearness to other countries. They don't have oceans between them. unlike us, they aren't on the opposite side of the world from the next superpower. A lot do not need the Navies or other military that we have to have. If we drew back and let those countries take equal responsibility for the world trade lanes, they definitely will not afford the healthcare. Kallend just posted a piechart that correctly tells us the amount of military spending we do relative to other, much smaller social countries. That chart tells me a complete different story though. It tells me that we are not only the second largest country on that chart, but the one country on the far side of the world. We have to at least be responsible for the protection of our merchants. Also, socializing requires a considerable amount of eminent domain claims on whole or part of a whole industry and businesses , putting up a government beaurocracy in its place, thereby increasing the govt size while decreasing its tax source. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

Mahnah-a-nah (do-do,do-do-do,do-do-do, do-do. do. do. do!) That was on the Pilot episode if i remember correctly. My favorite is Animal and that new shrimp guy. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

AAHH. . .one of those. I'm thinking you Toastie Coasties are the same with the Navy in protocol with classified stuff. In the Instructions, there is always a two-man rule. I say, check to see if this is legal, or you do not have a prayer if something goes down. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

You can get an intelligence test from two minutes of observation? That's better than the best psychologists out there. How do you know they aren't judging you after you have ridiculed them? What makes them from not thinking: "well, she got her laughs from my mistake, but that's all she probably has." After all, most people are not too worried about the credibility of opinions from someone of a near-minimum wage job. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

There Was a punchline there actually. Free enterprise is definitely not free if it is upheld by weapons. This is a true statement. But also a true statement, free enterprise cannot exist without any type of defense against anything that will stop it. So Free Enterprise is definitely not free. Ask any Naval servicemember who has been deployed to defend a sealane from piracy and hostile governments. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
