  1. And the current gold rush could (probably should) collapse at any minute. What, exactly, is the intrinsic value of gold anyway? It's only "valuable" because people say it is. Same as paper money. It's a bit more difficult to extract from the ground than paper money is to print, but if the zombie-apocalypse ever came to pass, it would be less valuable than a clean cup of drinking water. Commercial applications. And it takes huge industries to extract and make it useful efficiently. Ah.. No. Gold's use is mostly for cosmetic dentistry and jewelry. Industrial applications is pittance. But then again, you could say you were right, since jewelery is a commercial application . And of course huge industries extract it! With fools willing to pay $1,500 /oz for it! lol Eh. . .ill agree with the jewelry over commercial application stuff. But calling Flavor-Flav jacked up grill as a foolish endeavor? . . LOL!!! Hey Nanook, LOL! Could you tell us anything about a certain kind of serious situation which occured during the early seventies concerning the gold debt and France? Do you know why the Saudis are our lifelong buddies and pals? If you do would you share with the group? Fair Winds, TT I've talked about the collapse of the Bretton Woods agreement many times over the years here. France's actions is an example why the Gold Standard won't work whether politically or practicality wise. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

  4. If you look into it, you will find that is the root of all the problems. Money based on nothing can only last so long, people have a short memeory. Common people may have short memories, but not economists, financial experts and money managers. Remember, the Gold Standard collapsed. It was not just abandoned for "something better". You are talking about pegging something that's value is based on want to something else that's value is based on want. It's the same thing but with a middle-man that itself is subject to fluctuations. Problem now is the dollar would then be based on something that has variable value and finite amounts that can only cause deflation. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  5. If he shuts up with his strange rabble regarding the IRS and FED abolishment and gold standard stuff, he might actually be a real front-runner this time. People have a short memory. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

  9. yeah. . . It's like the Chess club of a high school lost to a rival. The concentration is somewhere else. Basketball, Football. . . _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  10. How? If one thinks about how much Americans pay attention to Football(Soccer), it doesn't smart losing. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  11. Uh huh. Would you like to try and refute any of his arguments or do you literally have nothing to contribute to this thread. Nothing to refute what he said. It's how he said it. We've done what we needed to do. Time to get out. Still makes you wrong. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  12. How inconvenient to you that you would wrongly call out a fallacy. . . It's not ad-hominem. I was never trying to refute any of his arguments in this thread. It's about his trollish posting style. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  13. In the formative years of a child's development they may receive warm fuzzies or cold pricklies. If they are given an abundance of cold pricklies over warm fuzzies they will learn to accept negative attention as normal. I always figured it was from parents just straight out ignoring them and they do anything for attention. Pretty sad. Ad hominem. You're the sad one. Ummm. . .Duh? You really think this thread is worthy of some debate rules? There's no win with a twerpy response to a rule-break. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

  15. Of course! Throughout my adult life I've been very careful to pay every penny in tax I owe and to file every form I'm required , by law,to file . How about you? Did you file fraudulently again? Peace, Jim B Yup, I need people to pay attention to me; any attention. You see, if I act out, the negative response is some attention I can get from someone. . .anyone. It is better than facing the true reality that I am really insignificant and not meaningful to anyone, not even to myself. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  16. Look at the word "urge". sounds more like they are pleading to Obama. The Generals do not tell a U. S president what to do. Look at McChrystal's example. To say that someone who has the ability to get himself into the Presidency will allow some General to order him around is counterintuitive to the leadership and assertive power required to find oneself in that Office. A general may be high up in the Military, but he is just a General Officer among other powerhouses that the President has working for him or with him. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  17. That was the way it was in the past. It didn't work out. It definitely won't work now. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  18. When the Generals dictate to the President what will happen, then the military runs the government. When has this ever happened with these wars? _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  19. Agree big time. If the Armed Service can't do this, no way in hell should some civilian be able to do it. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
  20. Seriously? You're off the deep end on this one. According to accounts, he was given the option to surrender. He resisted. Bad move mother f'er. I shall not grieve his poor decision. According to some reports, he had no choice. I'm not second guessing Obama or some of the posters on here who were so abhorrent in regards to waterboarding when Bush was President. What I don't understand is how they can be so vociferously against waterboarding but so jubilant about a bullet to the brain. I think you were one of them. Can you explain it to me? http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/02/us-binladen-kill-idUSTRE7413H220110502 That article does have me puzzled. I would have thought capture would have been preferred so we would have had a chance to get info out of him, e.g. "Where is al-Zawahiri?" Captured documents in the compound may provide a quicker way of getting info. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln

  24. I don't know the shape of your drive, but it looks like they weren't trying to block you in for a mugging. Probably what happened is they probably thought that you had slighted them in one way or another (cut them off?) and they were playing with you. _____________________________ "The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine" - Abraham Lincoln
