  1. Safety record for all Cessnas is great - (as far as I know). They are safe planes. As for working on the 500 series - its just a matter of age. 30 odd years of work, rework, mods, aftermarket changes etc etc. It appears to me they were designed by engineers who never spent time under the hood of the Buick with there dads if you know what I mean. But I get paid by the hour so feel free to bring me your plane. On a side note - NBAA got relocated to Orlando (was in New Orleans), we are having a big display at our new maintence hanger. They are going to have the Mustang there (among a few other planes - but the 'stang is the one Im interested in). If I manage to sneak past the armed guards, laser defense beams and barbed wire then Ill try to snake a couple pics for you. D'Bo
  2. It was a 500 series Citation. 500s were the origional Cessna jets. They began production in the early 70s. They hold about 5-6 + 2 crew. On an unrelatied side note - they are a pain in the ass to work on. Sad accident, will be interesting to see what comes of it. D'Bo P.S. Im an avionics tech on Citation Jets at the Orlando Citation service Center.
  3. I would be coming from Florida probably. Some of the people I know going down there for the boogie already have placed lined up - so I have an offer for a place to crash. Also my boys gf is from PR so we have that hook up too. Its just a matter of $$$ anyone wanna sponser me? D'Bo
  4. Im considering it. My crew is going. They arent dz.commers tho. D'Bo
  5. Ill be there. I dont know if I will be competing or doing video or just fun jumping. We will see - havent decided yet. If any of you all need help with anything PM me, or IM me. I live in Orlando, Lake Wales in my home DZ and I will be more than happy to help, I can shack ppl up if they want to come early/stay late and hit the tunnel or tear down O-town, I may be able to ferry some ppl to and from the DZ to the airport too. Just ask. Hehehehe - That was my freefly teammate from last year. Anyways - cant wait to meet you all. Ohh for shits and grins Im an engineering student. What are you guys and gals studying? D'Bo Aim: Derekbox Yahoo: freaky_derek My Space

  9. Something Positive Penny Arcade Quintessential reading for the cynical geek.
  10. I say trance, lots of trance. Hard trance. Ill even take a little House. Loud too. Keep it loud, I dont want to hear all the cranky people whining. D'Bo
  11. I dont mind $30. I will pay that and normal slot (up to twenty). Last 3 weekend skydiving trips I did Ibetween 15-20 jumps over 2-3 days. Lets say it will cost me $140 more over twenty jumps between my normal team slot and the boogie slot. Gas from Orlando will also be a pretty penny too. Id love to come guys, but unless someone wants to sponser my venture... ;) Derek D'Bo
  12. Funny you mentioned that - we were looking for somewhere to jump this weekend. We decided to do the HMB - until we saw that there is a $30 registration and slot is $23. I think Steve emailed them asking if we could buy a block (probably 50 jumps - between 3 people). We will see, Im going to take my ring with me to work and if it looks promising we will leave tonight. But Im not holding my breathe. D'Bo
  13. Jim dry some of that meat for me and bring it down to O town. I like mine spicy. ;) venison jerky *drools* D'Bo
  14. I took these, maybe a year and some change ago. It was sitting right in from of my (shops) hanger. Whatching it lift off was nothing short of amazing. It literally looks like it is floating - so slow. This was at MCO for those interested. She came through a couple times, the first it was dropping off a huge spindle assembly for a crane, and the second time it was dropping off some cooling unit for a nuclear something. Watch the ramp in front of an FBO at a busy airport and you get to see some cool shit... D'Bo
  15. Like we missed you.... It was nice meeting you bro. Next time lets see if we can get the pilot to spot. Derek
  16. Dont take them out man. Take them in. Cook for them. Many a lady met there doom at the hands of my feable culinary experiments. MUWAHAHA. No really though, ask any chick, cooking for them, well they love it. But it is a second date thing. First date - take them to the DZ, teach them to pack, tell them babe - this is what it will be like to be my babys momma. Then she can pay for din din. D'Bo
  17. I have a 92 Ranger. VERY similar problem. It turns out it was a compression/valve issue. I had worked through a few of the same things you did. What ended up fixing it was a $6 can of "Restore: restore engine restorer and lubricant" I dont normally invest in snakeoils but someone at work recommended it - and Ill be damned it worked. Helps reseal valves and piston rings. My problem got progressively worse to the point where it missed all the way through the throttle range. It started as an occasional hiccup and made its way to being a constant pain in the ass. I dont know if it is your problem. Here is something to check - on the aft of the engine, driver side, under the manifoldish area is a vaccum hose that easily can get knocked loose working on your car. Good luck - tell us what works.
  18. Bottom line - dealers and or independent shops can and will fuck you. I have been fucked by both dealers and independents. The dealers ALWAYS ALWAYS fuck you on price by the way. Even if the service is great, nothing at the dealer is great. Its hard to find a good independent shop, but it is possible - best bet - ask a friend who is a motor head who he takes his car to when he doesnt feel like doing the job. Any job I can do on a set of jack stands in my drive way - I do myself. Until my ID card expired I would use the auto hobby shop on base. Cant do that any more. Any uneducated consumer is going to get fucked. Its simple. Just seems there are more predators in the automotive field because of the increased oppurtunity (you said it yourself - you dont know about your car). Trying to sell you flushings and what not I wouldnt even consider a rip by the way. They are trying to sell a service. You need to know better and say no. D'Bo
  19. Last I heard there was about 20 something (low twenty) jumpers there for the event. So you can always make the turns. Plus I doubt they will be doing every other load. You will be able to jump plenty. ;) D'Bo
